Marked as spam, the link is totally useless, 1 paragraph with a link to the real site. - NinjaDuck12, on 10/12/2007, -8/+88That's because someone else dugg it after your page loaded and before you dugg it. First time digging?
- jtizzle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+48If you have 17 new XP machines, you really should consider a WSUS server.

http://digg.com/tech_news/AutoPatcher_XP/who
This is the article I just dugg.
Why does these people think we want to read their blogs!?!
Just link to the tool. I don't care about your ***** blog! - jlunski, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36Yes... Special... That is one way of putting it.
- BuZzBuZz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27SP420: "Pointless. Most Updates are absolutely useless to begin with"
lmfao guess you like being vulnerable to hackers and virii - je12u, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24There are a few goot tools out there for an automated setup including updates, servicepacks, and add-ons:

to name just a few..... - stuf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Or, even better, make an installation image.
- airquotes, on 10/12/2007, -12/+31O RLY? All updates??? By the time you download the CD there will probably be a new critical update not on it...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23You experienced Digg's Quantum Entanglement Effect. Sometimes you digg a story and the entangled particles of yourself in an alternate timeline impact ours, digging the story twice. We've hired a team of physicists to fix this in the next version.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19By "virii" I'm sure you mean "viruses"
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Everyone point and laugh at the dialup users. Poor bastards.
HA HA
Oh and autopatcher is NOT new. - OmegaNine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Its just a fast, easy way to get all the updates for windows in one place. I don't understand what there is not to get about it....
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Don't they know that 80% of us don't even *see* their ads?
- diggimator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Just you wait... I'm busy downloading the all-in-one AutoPatcher CD from my 56k modem.
- HardSide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Been using autopatcher for a while now, its very good if you know what your doing, there are so many updates that you get lost very fast.
- BigJuiceMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10IMHO, laziness is an essential quality for IT. 'cause you don't wanna have to the same job twice...you'll find the quickest and most efficient way to do it the FIRST time!
- sannm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10They got this new thing...its called Windows Vista, so they don't really care about xp anymore
its sort of a forced upgrade if you will, they don't want to make xp support easy so therefore you simply switch to vista - OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Why won't MS release SP3 already? Is it some sort of devious marketing tactic by Steve Ballmer?
- cquilliam, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Haven't you heard? Virii are new viruses for your wii. They're so devestating that they come in through your unpatched windows xp install.

- OmegaNine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8@ stuf
That works for your first install, but after that you are downloading each update 17 times. Plus you have not control over what updates are downloaded and what ones are not.
Imaging a drive is probably not the best idea in that situation.... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Now we know the dupe accounts!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i use ryanvm's but just so nobody forgets about this find:

Norton? ack! No wonder you stayed in pre-SP1! Too stupid to update! - OmegaNine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Thats what digg is all about, every guy with a blog, blogs something, then runs and submits it to digg (even if its just a link) in hopes that people will click on their ads

"AutoPatcher is totally customizable. You can add your own modules, or pick one of the ready-made modules found here. "
Go on pick one. :) - SanTe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You can slipstream hotfixes but it's harder than slip streaming a service pack, especially if multiple hotfixes have to be applied in a specific order.
- uownedge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Blog spam, buried as such.
Autopatcher is really nice though. They release updated versions often enough to keep up fairly well with things, and sometimes there are even some nifty extras tossed in there (Royal msstyle was offered for a while). It's particularly handy if you have a decent sized flash drive to toss the most recent version on to every once in a while.
And really, even if you are on a high speed connection, autopatcher is still faster. - btgoss, on 10/12/2007, -10/+13It's funny because it is true....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Not anywhere as easily as just downloading autopatcher and running it immediately after your XP installation.
- malkir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3F me, those are 2000 links.
- Scotty87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4this is OK for average user, I'll stick with my monthly slipstream. For people who fix like one computer a week or a month sure this is fine. but if I'm doing 3-5 installation in one night. Its a lot faster and easier to throw in my CD who has all the update up till 1st of March and install XP and once its done all updates are already there.
Even if your not comfortable in slipstreaming. there is usually a monthly Windows XP image that floats around torrent sites that is already done for you that you can download and burn
Again. point being I rather have everything install together than having to install updates after wards.
Hail to laziness - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"How many times have you had to reinstall a someones Windows OS onsite?"
Loads.
"How many times has that person only had a 56k modem to download the Windows updates?"
Hardly ever in the 21st century. - EricTheGrey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is an amazing idea. I've read about slipstreaming, but my attempts at doing so have not fared very well. Having one tool to update a fresh install of XP or 2000 would be wonderful.
It's also pretty good timing, considering I'm going to be formatting and doing a fresh install of XP within the next few days...
EtG - M2Ys4U, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or you can order it from autopatcher.com for the price of the CD + shipping... and soon to be on a USB stick as well.
Oh, and there's a torrent mirror too:
http://torrent.autopatcher5.mirror.ineedhosting.net - weaksnyc, on 08/14/2009, -4/+5h00paj00 - Is that .01 cent or $.01
- M2Ys4U, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Often "enough"? They're released every month
- SealandRes1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Don't know why people are digg you down, but as I understand it, Autopatcher was a project on Neowin before it had its own site.
- M2Ys4U, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There is no more up to date full release... You'll have to wait for the March releases (Then the core will be upgraded to 5.6 from 5.1)
- M2Ys4U, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not true. Microsoft release updates on the second Tuesday of every month. AutoPatcher releases happen the same week or the week after, usually, so unless the release is 3-4 weeks late in being released then... no.
Stop trolling. - popapiska, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool! Things never change.
