- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1YAY.... Hey if you use flock you might want to map your self over at http://frappr.com/flockusers :D
- TrueSatan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@arudquick...and others.
Flock benefits by having its parts tailored to work properly with one another a tailoring you won't get by adding extensions to Firefox. Speed, stability and reliability will also be better than a mish-mash of extensions could offer for the same reason. It's not likely that anything even close to all of Flock's functionality could be ported to Firefox by way of extensions.
Before you gainsay the project why not let it have a reasonable chance to show its potential including letting it get past the developer preview stage? Firefox is Open Source after all so there can't, surely, be anything wrong with another team using that code to try to give users something extra...especially as Flock are intent of giving code back to Firefox. - ForbesBingley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been using Flock since its somewhat premature birth.
It's a hive of bugs and while looking quite nice, it's hideously unstable... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice. The more competition, the better for us.
- TrueSatan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ MySchizoBuddy
Remember, please, that the current Flock is only a developer preview and thus treat it accordingly. Import of bookmarks can be done easily enough...I won't give the full process here but it's a well-known workaround. Furl, Spurl etc will come in good time once the core functionality has been refined (why add extra until you've got all the basics sorted out). The point is that each system has a representative service to use in order to get the functionality as good as possible but when it comes to a full roll-out you can expect to see more services per system (or at the least soon after a roll-out). - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i havent found it to be unstable at all
- ados, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I digg this, because I spent 1 minute and now know that I'm not missing anything I need.
- Singee15, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it shold just be an extension, and make a theme too if you want the look.
- navtiidia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i like it... if it were more fast like opera... and looked like dos... cuz i dont like flashy interfaces... i like simple 16 color icons and black text with white outline... with a black background...
- quasipalm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Flock is great for del.icio.us alone.
- rmccabe916, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Would you be happy if Flock could do everything Firefox could and more? Or do you just want to keep using Firefox no matter what? ;)
- zelig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Flock is cool.
- VoodooRock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not too big on FLock. I tried using the whole del.ici.ous thing and flickr, but I just like Firefox more. Maybe I'm one of the few people who don't need all that.
- rmccabe916, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I use Opera and don't blog that much, but it would be nice for those who want to stick w/ Firefox to have the same functionality. However, like the reviewer's page says the creators of Flock want to have a complete end-user experience. Sort of like an Opera v. Firefox kind of thing. Do I want to completely customize everything myself or do I just want it all fromt the start and whittle down?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it would be nice if someone made a flock extension for firefox
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1id like flock more if it were just an extension- but whatever. it's still fun to use
- cdmarcus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good ideas, but definitely better as an extension.
- jjtechno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have been using Flock for a couple of weeks and have not found it very buggy at all.
- goldrake70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Flock is great
- jiminoc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I prefer to have as many browsers as possible. I code websites and I like to see how different browsers will render the pages I code"
I dont even know what to say to that - MySchizoBuddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It doesn't automatically use my firefox bookmarks and isn't able to import either.
I tried exporting from firefox to opera and then import in flock but it doesn't show my bookmarks. del.icio.us doesn't have file import either.
any idea, flock should aslo support furl.net as well - arudgick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0been using it for almost a couple months now. would be nice to see some of it's features implemented as firefox extensions. as far as stability, i find it just as stable as firefox for my useage. it should definitely try to incorporate more social web sites furl, at least a small handful of the million or so others..
the blog and flickr stuff is nice, but i can live without it. what i like most is how it integrates del.icio.us and how you can have several different bookmark toolbars. - Seaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't give a Flying Flock!
- Seaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ummm Flock is a bastardized version of Firefox. That's it. Avant Browser is a bastardized version of IE. That's it, nothing else. When I see people comment about this "new application" or this "new browser" called Flock...I look at them like they are crazy.
Hi...we're Flock. We are going to tinker with the underpinnings of the Firefox browser and then let you beta test it while it craps all over your computer.
I just don't get it. - arudgick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0just wanted to add that during the couple months i have been using flock, it has been my primary browser. as for stability complaints... i haven't a single one.
- darkteb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0goog idea but need more works..
- cjbanna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i installed it, there a couple bugs i found when posting to my blog. i also find it odd that you cannot import bookmarks, but hey it's still under heavy development so we will see.
this browser is really geared toward the blogger/social networking/myspace/photo sharers. i can see this being a hit with people who use del.icio.us/flickr or blog a lot. it's not a browser for everyone.
cool idea. - jamesyeang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Firefox with a good pack of extensions seems to be able to do everything flock can do... One thing I don't like about Flock is that there is no "suggested" or "popular" tags which is really a great feature by built into del.icio.us to avoid duplicate tags, and to improve relevance to other tags.
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0TrueSatan, you sound like your work for the Flock team or something? Maybe you don't, it just wouldn't suprise me considering how much money they have spent marketing this thing through events and such.

"TrueSatan, you sound like your work for the Flock team or something? Maybe you don't, it just wouldn't suprise me considering how much money they have spent marketing this thing through events and such."
Nope, I'm just an interested party who has been, and continues to be, involved in helping the paid staffers of Flock in the development of their product. Admittedly I've probably had more interaction with the paid staff there than most users would be likely so to do but I'd still claim to be impartial as I gain no financial advantage from the product. - Seaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Quoted from the review:
"The features that set Flock apart from Firefox probably won't appeal to people who don't maintain a Weblog, Flickr collection, or del.icio.us bookmarks."
I don't maintain Weblogs, Flickr collections, or delicious bookmarks. No Flocking way I'm downloading another browser. - jasonhazel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i've beeen using flock for a few months now and it has it's ups and downs.
it's buggy as hell, but i've still been using it over firefox, opera and IE. - Crazyguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"A first look at flock"
I downloaded Flock I while ago - kabigon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Flock, more like *****, am I right?
- Vasto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Flock is great, except it doesn't integrate with enough web 2.0 sites.
- stijn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm translating Flock into Dutch, but honestly, I don't use it. I just stick Firefox. Maybe (probably) in the future, when I'm blogging some more than I do now,... The whole concept is unique though.
- jiminoc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I can't take anymore browsers
- kherrick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0yeah, flock on xulrunner...
- stark23x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I just installed it. I uninstalled in 15 minutes later. What a mess.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0awesome, dugg! http://fyad.org/6cgn
- TheAttacks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I prefer to have as many browsers as possible. I code websites and I like to see how different browsers will render the pages I code. Although, I usually only use Firefox, Opera, and Internet Explorer for debugging layouts.
