- talonstriker, on 05/06/2008, -9/+125Haha, you read the EULA
- Haidoken, on 05/06/2008, -7/+118I was going to install Hyperwords, but I read the EULA, and it states no modifying or copying of code. Firefox is open-source. Plus I read one of the reviews that said you couldn't delete the Google search and then re-add your own custom Google search. Sounded kinda fishy like a referral was going on. I'll pass on that for now. Installed NextTab though.
- MykeXX, on 05/06/2008, -6/+87Most are not compatible with the beta version of firefox.
- HonoredMule, on 05/06/2008, -0/+68Thank goodness SOMEONE does.

- craighoxton, on 05/06/2008, -1/+33Is there one where you have to think in Russian?
- Snakedal337, on 05/06/2008, -1/+32Its called Beta 5, check it out! RIght now with 4 tabs open in digg im using 52mb :)
- snoopduggydugg, on 05/06/2008, -4/+28Starting to use 3 out of 6 isn't bad. I really like the social networking one.
- nights0223, on 05/06/2008, -2/+24Just use the Nightly Tester Tools extension to make them compatible.
- Raptor007, on 05/06/2008, -1/+21Both of these are accomplished by Tab Mix Plus, as well as other features.
- heathuff23, on 05/06/2008, -0/+15ummmmm...reply button....anyone?
- HonoredMule, on 05/06/2008, -1/+14Different users, different needs. That's kind of the point in them being optional, open-ended extensions.
- TheThirdLevel, on 05/06/2008, -3/+16Reply button is there for a reason. Use it.
- shankarganesh, on 05/06/2008, -2/+11Hyperwords just rocks! Makes every word interactive, you can fetch meanings, translate and do a lot of other little things.
- freakydingo, on 05/06/2008, -1/+9I was excited about the Hyperwords feature, but I've installed it and am now a little disappointed. The options you get when you right-click a word are impressive, but once you choose the specific site you wish to use, you have to type in the word in the box that pops up. I expected it to take me straight to the page using the exact word I selected, instead of manually having to type it in after already selecting it. Anyone know of a to way fix this, or am I just being nit-picky?
- JudgeMonkey, on 05/06/2008, -0/+8Yes, google can.
- asssa3000, on 05/06/2008, -0/+7well everyone has got his own time savers. I totally understand you.
- ubuwalker31, on 05/06/2008, -1/+8Advanced Dork has almost the same functionality without the sketchy EULA.
- inactive, on 05/06/2008, -1/+8Not nit-picky; or, at least, if you are, I am too. I was considering installing it, but based on your description, I'll give it a pass. I have already installed multiple reference engines in my search bar. If I have to retype the word, I can do it there.
- Ploppyplop, on 05/06/2008, -0/+7The only problem with Tabs Open Relative is that I've gotten so used to it now when I have to use a browser without it, it's a nightmare...
Bah. Wrong reply button. - americamatrix, on 05/06/2008, -7/+14If you download the extension and save it to your computer and rename it from a .xpi to a zip - you can extract the contents of the extension.
After you extract the contents, you then need to look for a file called 'install.rdf'
Open this file in something like notepad, and look for the following lines:
minVersion>1.0
maxVersion>2.0.0.*
Change the max version to something higher than the beta you are currently running.
Save the file
Zip the folder back up and rename back to a .xpi
Then open firefox and go to file - open file and you can now install your extension....
Yes I realize its a pain....but if you want your extensions with the latest version.....its the only way to go :) - WallnutBoy, on 05/06/2008, -0/+7I think ReadItLater is going to be VERY great for me with digg... If i'm at college and something is NSFW, but the title attracts my attention or I have interest in it, I normally digg it anyways without viewing the article/whatever.. Digg needs a 'Read Later' feature, but this addon is going to be my new best friend.
Same thing applies if the article is blocked because its about file sharing. -_- - ecarver530, on 05/06/2008, -1/+8dammit, can't install tinyurl on 3 beta 5
- cr4ft, on 05/06/2008, -0/+6Anyone know how to stop hyperwords from bringing up a menu when I highlight something with the mouse? Why can't it just show up when I right click instead? Sometimes I just want to copy+paste something and I have to close the menu...
- Zera, on 05/06/2008, -0/+6Ctrl-Click is crappy compared to Middle Clicking a link. I do use Ctrl-Click on my laptop though when I don't have a mouse handy.
- Zera, on 05/06/2008, -2/+8#5 is far Inferior to "Tabs Open Relative" which eliminates the need for the unnecessary step of a context menu, and lets you specify exactly where all new tabs open.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/195 ...
I also recommend, "Unread Tabs" which puts tab titles into italics until you click on them.

- sumeshpremraj, on 05/06/2008, -1/+7I use Read It Later, Next Tab and TinyUrl extensions - they're all useful.
I don't think I'll use the others, because too many extensions will slow down Firefox terribly (but Firefox 3 Beta5 is quite good even with multiple extensions, so I hope the future's bright for the fox ;) ) - ZugZugDaBoo, on 05/06/2008, -0/+6Go into hyperword options, then the pop-up tab and under activation then select anything other then pop-up when you select text.
- sadatoni, on 05/06/2008, -0/+6Try Tab Mix Plus https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/112 ...
- Doji, on 05/06/2008, -0/+5They missed the best time saver of all. Autofill forms. It does exactly what the name says.
- geobay, on 05/06/2008, -1/+6I believe there is an extension for that. With IE it comes pre-installed.
- iamafatguy, on 05/06/2008, -1/+6amidoinitrite?
- cr4ft, on 05/06/2008, -0/+5Dude, thank you!
- Raptor007, on 05/06/2008, -3/+8That extension is called "buy more memory". I have it, and it works great!!
- TheThirdLevel, on 05/06/2008, -5/+9Reply button is there for a reason.
USE IT, *****. - acero47, on 05/06/2008, -0/+4Tab Mix Pro should be there instead of NextTab. It allows opening new tabs next to the current one and so much more.
- shadowblade989, on 05/06/2008, -0/+4If you go to their website (google hyperwords) it will let you install it there
- tomgibbons, on 05/06/2008, -0/+4Save the XPI to your hard drive. Open up the install.rdf and edit the maximum version. Package it back up and install it. That's what I did and it works perfectly fine.
- leerayIG88, on 05/06/2008, -0/+4pefect for digg.
- nestafett, on 05/06/2008, -0/+4Zotero. For every college kid writing papers. It makes citations, bibliographies, stores notes,etc... saves me literally days of work..http://www.zotero.org/
- KiraDnote, on 05/06/2008, -0/+4I prefer 1-click-answers over hyperword because it works with all windows apps, not just firefox. Same thing for Texter over paste-email. Tab-mix-plus for tabs. The other suggestions aren't even interesting.
- HonoredMule, on 05/06/2008, -0/+4Tab Mix Plus has everyone one of those features as well, with the exception of the "Tabs" menu within Options merely having a button to open the TMP options (which is in my opinion better, because Options would be way to cluttered/full otherwise, and the TMP options is a full panel in itself, similarly designed and well organized within its own tabs).
Tabbrowser Preferences may have also matured since I tried it last, but it was always unstable for me and conflicted with more extensions than TMP. - themisanthrope, on 05/06/2008, -0/+4Personally, I think yours are a much more "must have" list than those in the featured article.
- nebari, on 05/06/2008, -0/+4Ctrl+Tab works as well for moving between tabs.
Actually,
ctrl+tab moves between tabs left to right.
ctrl+shift+tab moves between tabs right to left.
I much prefer navigating with one hand (and don't take that out of context! :) ) - Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -0/+4Sure you can, just click on the link for 1.0.4 (the current version)
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/ve ...
You can do this for any extension, just click on "See all versions" from the add on's main page - aflaks, on 05/06/2008, -8/+12how about an extension that enables firefox to maintain its functions without eating up 3/4ths of my memory.
- elshizzo, on 05/06/2008, -0/+3Does anyone know if there is an extension or option so that I don't lose my open tabs whenever I close firefox? Every time I close it the normal way I have to remember what I had open, which sux. Btw, hyperwords and nexttab are great
- ecarver530, on 05/06/2008, -0/+3lol wow i'm smart...
