seriously - Dradis, on 02/08/2008, -3/+31Personally I use"site:" (as in "site:example.com") quite a bit. It limits the search to a specific URL. Very handy for sites with crappy (or no) search features.

- Tanath, on 02/08/2008, -0/+5Why is it none of these things ever mention the "~" (tilde)? I find it very useful at times. It searches for synonyms. Can be really useful if you're looking for help on something, for instance: "linux ~guide" will search for linux along with guide, help, tutorial, how-to, faq, etc. Putting it in front of "linux" will search for linux, ubuntu, red hat, freebsd, etc.
- sdellboy, on 02/08/2008, -0/+3Haha that is v v funny...

- 405994, on 02/08/2008, -0/+4Specifying only .edu sites is a great tool for research projects.

I followed the incorrect link below. - reiger90, on 02/08/2008, -1/+4I use google to download music
-inurl:htm -inurl:html intitle:"index of" mp3 "Name of song or band"
Also there was a trick where you can watch webcams
inurl:view/index.shtml - MovieBlog, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2Anyone notice that he was trying to calculate sin(90°) / cos(90°)? That would have been 1/0. His other mistake was not realizing that Google works in radians instead of degrees, by default. He should have typed something like 'sin(pi/2)' or 'cos(90 degrees)' to get the intended results in Google calculator.
- Tanath, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2If you really want to know... It's a bit long and boring at first, but I found it interesting overall...
Human computation:

- TrinitronX, on 02/08/2008, -0/+2CPU Quota?? That hosting plan must suck... they're probably serving it off of an over-filled shared server. That, or the server contains vacuum tubes.
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -1/+3 Yeah,I found out about that the other day...Funny.
- bowe, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1SOA is State of the Art where I come from.
- nitinpai, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Hey Guys,
I am the author of this post. I read the flaming comments and I accept it whole heartedly. Prior to that I was shocked to see my article on Digg homepage. I did not intend to be on it because I agree that these tricks are old. I am not sleeping either. My sole intention to put this article was to make the sleeping people aware of them. I have given some situations in my post where to use the appropriate keywords just with the intention that people realize them and use them. There are many more such articles but they just list out the tricks and people get amazed by them and again forget them.
You can call this ***** and flame me even more. It is not I who made you to digg my site. I don't care whether the CPU quota error is shown because my intention is not attracting massive traffic. I post articles to educate people. Even if my findings are old they are not much in common in my surroundings.
If you flame me, then you probably have much more knowledge than me, but think of others who don't yet know it. For them it is something new.
Anyways, thanks to you guys for digging! - Zaggynl, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1*Were

- molcles, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1limiting your Google search to .edu sites is not the same as searching Google Scholar.
