- Gundam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The images have been updated since then but you used to be able to see WSU playing in seahawk stadium of Google maps.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dave,,, that is the coolest. do you think google would hide something like this? try to see if we can find it?
- misterpony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They have "photoshopped" listed next to the White House link so I did some comparisons...check out the Whitehouse on local.live.com with the Aerial View and then switch to the Bird's Eye view...many of the trees suddenly disappear. The local.live.com Aerial view and the Google Maps view seem to be similar. Anyone else see this?
- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0misterpony: "Here's a link to the Whitehouse on local.live.com (didn't see the "permalink" right away): [...]"
Last I checked, Google Earth (and maybe Maps) show the House and the side buildings unmodified.
In any case, Google Earth, Google Local and Live Local all show that Naval Observatory pixelized out:

Oh, that is _so_ silly! Telling people not to show things you want to keep secret. (Wanting to keep them secret is silly enough.) JUST HIDE IT YOURSELVES! mgrmbmmmgrmmm! - pointlessaudio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is cool
- grieks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the White house just looks like they blanked out what's on the rooftop...
- meangene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google maps is the best.
- nuclearpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lol "Dave"
- gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Google Earth (and maybe Maps)"
Nope, not Google Maps. - Emaze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Trinity Nuclear Test site was in St. Louis? Wow, that explains a lot.
- spd214, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Needs updating. Busch stadium is no longer standing....well at least the one pictured.
- jk_baller23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like the Nude Beach as being an interesting location.
- staticten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0maps.google.com is from the 60s.........
yuck, i still can't believe I actually liked this.........not until local.live.com - YoctoYotta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0government buildings, differnet locations, transportation, bridges and waterways . . . sounds like the list of stuff the government is worried about terrorists hitting. brilliant.
- vinko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The location for "Apple Headquaters" is incorrect and the link for "Apple Campus" is point to that of Microsoft's
- TheVetos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did you see the blurred Gov't Buldings? At the bottom?
Really......Interesting - DukeUsul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I disagree with the one titled "Iowa Class Battleship at Philadelphia Naval Yard." There's an Iowa class BB (the New Jersey) right across the river in Camden, and when you compare the sizes at full zoom, what's linked to at the Phila Naval Yard is obviously smaller.
USS NJ: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Philadelphia,PA&t=k&hl=en&ll=39.939093,-75.132408&spn=0.005331,0.011212&t=k - Bromskloss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0grjeks writes: "the White house just looks like they blanked out what's on the rooftop..."
Silly as well. Btw, I remember some security guy (secret service or something else) saying that is was probably better not to blur out the snipers placed there. They were _supposed_ to be seen to let everyone know the place is heavily guarded. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love that the Trinity nuclear test site is also downtown St. Louis.
- ladyflux6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This topic has 2 things that i HATE and find often in digg.com.
1st is:
*The 20 top blahblah of last year* The 10 top blahblah of all time.
waste of time, these are not *news*. These are not *feeds*. These are useless remix that shouldnt be reposted in that manner. If you wanna know the best tools for X job, go in a forum about X and ask the array of tools. Its that simple.
2nd is:
?/$" LEAVE GOOGLE ALONE. So many things happen in the technology area, and you guys mainly start topics and DIG google stories. fanatics i say. This is driving me quite crazy. I liked the search engine named google because it was simple, effective, convenient and light, but i dont care about the compagny named google. So please pssshh stop your fanatism of google, blinded for no real reasons. - Snarfy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The white house and the two buildings beside it probably have anti-aircraft weapons on the rooftops. It's understandable after 9/11...
If you zoom out from the white house, you can see the upside down pentagram in the street layout. The white house is at the bottom point of the star. Let the conspiracy theories abound...
- jenseng, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0differnet... like the internet, only different
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Local live doesn't seem to work with Safari... Think I'll stick to google.
- Phaid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dukeusul is correct. The "Iowa Class BB" is actually the USS Des Moines (CA-134), a Des Moines class heavy cruiser. It's much smaller than an Iowa class.
If you move south and to the east a bit, you can see what's left of the USS Coral Sea (CV-43) moored at a pier. Evidently that part of the image is much older, because scrapping of Coral Sea completed in 2000. - kakapu4u, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you click on the Area 51 link in the article, then go southwest a bit, what are those circle shaped mounds/pits for (besides alien ritualistic burial mounds)? That's kind of interesting eh?
Here is where I mean. Area 51 is at the top right, and the circles are in the bottom left. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Las+Vegas,NV&t=k&hl=en&ll=37.191502,-115.928078&spn=0.17203,0.31105&t=k - randomtask, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ha! Buried nuclear warheads right next to crops and housing. Now there's a smart idea.

- jobeats, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow, didn't know Wrigley Field was at the airport
- zopheus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.sightseebyspace.com This site is much better.
- joerao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is why I prefer local.live.com:

For those of us who have never been to the Playboy Mansion... this is as good as it gets. - JOSHDAVE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man I love google earth.
- edgecurve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Double True meangene.
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0kakapu -- It's the Yucca Flats Nevada Proving Grounds. Your burial mounds are craters from nuclear/high explosive test blasts. Mostly nuclear blasts. Check out the very big one to the north, it's called the Sedan Crater. HUGE.
- Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Some of the links are wrong, like the Apple campus pointing to Redmond.
- jsh1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why don't you just call this "Terrorist, click here!" ;)
- proverb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Has anyone noticed that the "Apple Campus" link points to the Microsoft campus map. Coincidence, I think not. - MrFisty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Roof of the white house is definitely missing an antenna or 40.
And it's definitely part of a pentagram. - Awwzm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Those SR-71's look awwzm.
- Nerfdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Google maps is the best."
true that. - someguyinajar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&t=k&ll=62.408026,156.63311&spn=0.068378,0.278091&t=k
The island in the middle of the lake looks kind of like a face. Maybe it's some sort of bald Jesus... - frankthomas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet it should only take me about 2days and 2 hours to get from my house to playboy mansion...HERE I COME MISS NOVEMBER 1984!!

- ghelton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I tried the area 51 lat long in google and it crashes google earth every time, more conspiracies?
37.191502,-115.928078 - setabs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like how the blurred govt buildings aka The capitol, supreme court are the real white house according to one person that left a comment on that site.
"Yeah, the blurred building is the real White House; the other one is Photoshopped in, it says so next to the link."
also, it a cross. the washington monument is the intersection. - mongrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Long line at the airport... http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=39.843253~-104.68708&style=h&lvl=17&scene=2687370
