- inactive, on 04/10/2009, -4/+17America still thinks the world revolves around them.
- broncfan23, on 04/10/2009, -1/+13Really? Bayern is 4th and we can't even afford to buy depth on this team to at least somewhat compete with Barca when we have injuries.....
Effin a, we need new management. - WaveyRavey, on 04/10/2009, -0/+11More than you could ever dream of earning.
- duniyadnd, on 04/10/2009, -0/+11Soccer came from "aSOCCiation" football. Thus, therefore, and in conclusion - football came first.
- Ruch182, on 04/10/2009, -0/+10...no it really couldn't
- beck5, on 04/10/2009, -1/+10champions cup? you mean champions league, if you get that wrong you clearly don't really know what your talking about.
Chelsea were a big team before the russian revolution, there two best players (JT & Lampard) were there before the money, granted they are bigger, but there were no bristol rovers. - CACuzcatlan, on 04/10/2009, -0/+8Australia and Japan (sakka) call it that.
- bilbohicks, on 04/10/2009, -0/+8troll detected.
- Ruch182, on 04/10/2009, -2/+9United's value doesn't mean anything thanks to the Glazer *****. We've got a debt of almost £700 million thanks to them.
- FapCommander, on 04/10/2009, -2/+9Uh... no it wasn't, football is the first name given to the sport
- pensivewombat, on 04/10/2009, -0/+6Yeah, but if the submitter is American why wouldn't he say soccer? If he submitted a news article on the Beijing Olympics would you expect it to be in Chinese?
- EndouOuto, on 04/10/2009, -2/+7Ebbsfleet United?
- jamesey, on 04/10/2009, -0/+5Calcio?
- Vital8, on 04/10/2009, -2/+7hmm... anyone else that thinks its odd, that barcelona is only 7th? hard to believe
- behavedave, on 04/10/2009, -0/+5Haven't seen a hand oval story in a while.
- Daniel591992, on 04/10/2009, -1/+6Here are the slides on one page:
http://allonapage.com/?http://www.forbes.com/2009/ ... - gatparker1, on 04/10/2009, -2/+6fyi it's called football and soccer.. let it go.
- lump1, on 04/10/2009, -0/+4Also, they don't have corporate sponsors - the only team on that list who refuses these.
If you look at their jerseys, it says "Unicef," and they put it there pro bono. - exhume, on 04/10/2009, -2/+6The word soccer is a colloquial abbreviation of association (from assoc.) and first appeared in the 1880s. The word is sometimes credited to Englishman Charles Wreford Brown, an Oxford student said to have been fond of shortened forms such as brekkers for breakfast and rugger for rugby football. (See Oxford -er)
- inactive, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3Accrington Stanley?
- paulb323, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3When the allies shot, the German Ducked. when the Germans shot, the allies ducked. when the americans joined and started shooting, EVERYONE ducked.
Get out of your yankie no passport owning uncultured arrogant bubble. The world is a bigger place than America and REAL Football dwarfs the following of any American sports. - zombiecarlin, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3That makes no sense only 8 of those teams are in the Premiership and both Everton and Aston Villa are behind the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle in terms of value but well ahead of them in the real league.
- FapCommander, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3Chelsea were a champions league team before Roman came along
- lump1, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3How old is this? I mean, look:
"[Bayern Munich] missed the Champions league but made it to semifinals of Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Cup."
Funny, I just watched them play in the Champions league quarterfinals against Barcelona on Wednesday. Forbes is not a very good news source about soccer.
But if we're talking about money, what I'd like to see is a rundown of player salaries and transfer fees. I've always been curious about which teams can get good results with affordable players. - Parallacks, on 04/10/2009, -1/+4Aresnal's at ***** #3 but Arsene won't by a damned defensive midfielder. :[
- CACuzcatlan, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3Don't feel so bad about the CL loss. This years Barca is the greatest club team ever. However, you still need to do something about those domestic results.
- whazdown, on 04/10/2009, -1/+4Going around in the a circle for 100+ laps..,yeah must be fun being a poor, inbred redneck. Enjoy your future :) lol.
- FapCommander, on 04/10/2009, -0/+31999-00 season saw their first appearance in the champions league
- KaiserArny, on 04/10/2009, -1/+4It was called Association Football to differentiate it from Rugby Football. So it's trivial to say which came first. Both name is O.K. In North America the name stuck to differenciate from another Football that evolved separately. Same thing for Australia.
- gooddeepbad, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3Erm yes, yes they were.
The season before the Russian took over they got a champions league place without the money. - FapCommander, on 04/10/2009, -0/+3Yes they were, how about you check your facts first. Chelsea first appeared in the champions league a few years before Abramovic took over
- whazdown, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2Yeah fair enough then, you are the best team in the world at the moment!
- Twelvevolts, on 04/10/2009, -3/+5What's soccer? Is that the same as football??
- JakeyG14, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2We'll see that when they meet some English opposition.
I'm not English by the way, I just have a huge amount of respect for the top 4 teams in the EPL. - salop, on 04/10/2009, -2/+4wow in seems like you have a real in depth knowledge of the game. im guessing you have followed them for a long time
- larrimer7, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2Its called the beautiful game for a reason
- Vital8, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2yeah but i mean the team value should not be affected by this. I don't know how these figures came about, but to me "team value" is the total value of the players of the team and not the balance sheet.
- whazdown, on 04/10/2009, -2/+4You failure of a man
- jhoogy, on 04/11/2009, -1/+3Rugby comes from William Webb Ellis picking up the ball so therefore it was called just football before that.
- hakluytbean, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2Neasden FC?
- inactive, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2I thhink this post is pretty funny!
- FapCommander, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2Never said anything about being a top champions league team, just saying that they qualified for the champions league before Roman came along
- zombiecarlin, on 04/10/2009, -1/+3Pretty good rant that, considering you are a ***** retard and full of *****.
- walgman, on 04/11/2009, -0/+2i know i was talking total and utter *****. apologies.
- zombiecarlin, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2They are last in the Value vs Debt table, you can thank the shiny new stadium for that one.
- ManUnitdFan, on 04/10/2009, -0/+2Maybe, and I hate the Glazers as much as anyone, but give them some credit. Everyone was concerned they'd strip the team of quality and use it solely as a money making venture, but United have had a lot of success since they took over. The ownership is really only disgusting in principle, but in practice it's worked out quite well.
