- gab00n, on 01/07/2009, -2/+32Still got the second leg at United before I would call it a shock. United played like *****, it's the Carling Cup so who cares. Chelsea this weekend is more important and that is where everyone's thoughts are.
- IamNOTmrT, on 01/08/2009, -0/+18Great result for Derby. I hope it stays like this.
Unfortunatly for them, I think they will have managed to piss Man U off enough for them to actually bother playing in the return leg. I can't see Derby making the final - EnderMB, on 01/08/2009, -0/+15Although it's a fantastic result I cannot say I'm surprised. All Man Utd fans will know how Fergie feels about the Carling Cup and what happened last time Man Utd played the Club World Championships. Derby have it all on in the second leg to not get their asses handed to them at Old Trafford.
- Danltn, on 01/08/2009, -1/+13Still gonna get hammered by Forest in just over 2 weeks time. :)
*Prepares for Derby Fans to bury him* - keepdiggin, on 01/07/2009, -3/+12well done rams!
- RLovell, on 01/08/2009, -1/+9To all the ***** and idiots saying 'Who are MANU?!!?!'
I kindly googled this for you "http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off& ...
Please try and refrain from being a retard in the future.
Regards,
The UK - soccerman90, on 01/08/2009, -0/+6Yeah its a good result for them but Rooney, Giggs, Ronaldo, and Fletcher didnt even start the game (rooney and ronaldo subed in at 63 minutes) That shows how serious they were taking the game. If derby can hold them off in the second leg then i will be seriously impressed
- Kmap, on 01/08/2009, -1/+7Great game by Derby and credits go to the new man in charge.
- Acronym, on 01/08/2009, -2/+8soccer on digg? what did I miss
- harpoongill, on 01/08/2009, -1/+7I heard CRonaldo dove out of the vehicle before impact, rolled around feigning injury but when he realized nothing was to come of it just dusted himself off and walked away.
- ftx437, on 01/08/2009, -1/+6Good point...
- billjimbob, on 01/08/2009, -2/+7in before "omg it's football not soccer"
- ftx437, on 01/08/2009, -3/+8WOW! another article about soccer made it front page!
@iamnotmrt-I agree, the same thing happened vs roma a couple years back in the champions league, then man utd creamed them in the return leg.....I give derby much kudos for beating man utd. but like you said as well the won't make it to the final...
(and yes I am a Man utd fan.) - pirlok, on 01/07/2009, -3/+8now, this is a shocker! well done Derby!
- inactive, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4Derby won a game, doesn't happen very often.
- Tron007, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4amen brotha
- metaperl, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4'twas a fine shot indeed by the laddy commons.
- FreddieD, on 01/08/2009, -1/+5I think this is a concept that americans just aren't used to: Playing a tournament *while* in the middle of your normal season. Major League Baseball team owners threw a major tantrum prior to the first World Baseball Classic about what would happen if their players got a major injury, and that wasn't even at the same time as the regular season.
- acidix, on 01/08/2009, -1/+5once the second leg rolls around and they're done w/ the chelsea game, they'll field a stronger team, at the theatre of dreams, and it will all be over.
- Zidave, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4Great result for Rams and a top class goal. Fair play to them. As for Man U they will I'm sure come back at them in the second leg and for the love of god please go to the final and beat the Spuds. Tottenham deserve nothing this season let alone scraping for a UEFA Cup qualification through the Carling Cup again... I'd like to see how they handle bringing in the usual piss players with a bottom half finish and no UEFA Cup qualification. LOL at them. I hate Harry Rednobb....
- DeadlyFish, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4Any american that leaves a negative comment on this article is A) either jealous of the popularity of Football(Soccer) or B) has nothing better to do than to try forcing their view that their sports are somehow superior. Im getting fed up of seeing these type of comments on any story related to Football(soccer). Dont try making it into a popularity contest of who has the best sport because most of the world wont agree with you!
On a side note Commons' scored a brilliant goal but i think theyre gonna find it difficult playing at old trafford, nevertheless great effort from Derby. - theg3neral, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3Rock on Derby!
- renilative, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3How come there is usually no soccer on Digg until today cause Man U Lost...haaaaa
- project46, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3still got the 2nd leg where derby will get pumped! tottenham-man utd final hopefully bring a bit of entertainment to the cup
- TrickyTree, on 01/08/2009, -3/+6It's not even a story - it's half time and Man Utd will murder them at Old Trafford.
Just like Forest will murder them in their own backyard in the FA Cup.
SHEEP, SHEEP, SHEEP SHAGGERS!! - kronix2, on 01/08/2009, -4/+7How about showing some respect to the greatest club manager of all time?
- michaeltime, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3He wasn't actually managing the team - has not taken over yet.
- aaron4, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3yeah sheepies!
- Chewy110, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3front page! ftw!
- JakeyG14, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3And where do you torrent games from?
- Wawin, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3I don't think Derby will be murdered, surely Man U will win, but after the tough game with Chelsea Man U will put all of their attention on the Premier League; therefore after a 2 v 0 difference they will likely just chill out.
- coldfusion1970, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Errrr, there is no chance of a draw/shock at the Theatre of Dreams.
We'll play a stronger team and win by a couple of goals. - nicc, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3more entertainment than Burnley knocking out a full strength Chelsea?
- Praystation, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3you missed the most popular game on the planet. =D
- viper001, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3It was hilarious to watch, being a Gooner myself. Still, Derby are going to be absolutely murdered in the second leg. If they have any sense they'll park the bus and waste time, with tackles flying from every direction.
- Danltn, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3Lol @ FC United of Manchester being 3rd on the results page for me. :)
- Tron007, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2like 1 goal down going INTO old trafford for the second leg is a huge obstacle for united...please...ronaldo scores 2, rooney 1 in the second leg....to shush!
http://tinyurl.com/8kcu9y - project46, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2If you remember many of them didnt start the full game... would be a very very different game if they started my friend
- Wawin, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2I agree, it's hardly a shock when only the first half of a 180 minute match has concluded. Anyways, Alex must properly administrate the minutes he gives to each player after comming from the Fifa Club Championship in Japan, it makes perfect sense that he kept his team in first gear before such an important match against chelsea.
- lakeeriemonster, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
- theheyes, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3I'm pretty shocked that an article about a semi-final (which we haven't even lost yet) in a cup that is the least sought after of the lot managed to make it to the front page of digg.
Meh, dugg. - TrickyTree, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2YOOOUUUUUUU REEEEEEEEDDDDDDDSSSSSSSS!!
- 8300dvo, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2that's the first time I've ever seen where I'm from ever even being acknowledged... I'm amazed
- nicc, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2the game was Wednesday afternoon and was on TV (Setanta)
- Po0py, on 01/08/2009, -0/+2This makes it sound like they are through to the final. Derby are gonna get hammared when the go to Old Trafford for the second leg.
Spurs, however, beat Burnly 4-1 so I'm a happy bunny. Looking like a Spurs vs Man Utd final. I'd be glad if Derby can scrape a draw and sneak in through, though. Spurs already the holders. I think we can do it again. Why the hell not. - IamNOTmrT, on 01/09/2009, -0/+2I'm gonna being singing 'Who the f*ck are Man United?' with about 35,000 other people at Upton Park next month. I confess to actually knowing the answer, but I'm gonna sing it anyway.
Cheers,
East London - nicc, on 01/08/2009, -2/+4SAF made it very clear in the post match interview that ManU were VERY lucky not to have lost by7 a bigger margin. if you watched the game, ManU was outplayed in every conceivable way, even with Rooney, Ronaldo, Carrick, etc (their stars) on the field.
- flowingsphere, on 01/08/2009, -3/+5Cristiano Ronaldo crashed his Ferrari today, now there's a real story!
As for this, United didn't play many of their top players so it's not as big of a story as it's made out to be. The second leg as at Old Trafford. They will bury Derby there. - Table16, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3Man U is going to slap them around at Old Trafford so why does it matter.
- Ramenhood, on 01/08/2009, -1/+3Not a huge shock, it's not the premier league and no one really cares.
