- jtwyrrpirate, on 11/06/2007, -7/+931Argh, I'm going to have to bury myself as inaccurate. The real site is http://whyfirefoxISblocked.com not http://whyISfirefoxblocked.com (Dyslexia kicking in). Still a very amusing page ...anybody want to work on rigging up a redirect? :-)
- Blazeix, on 10/10/2007, -6/+379The site that got on digg last week was whyfirefoxisblocked.com, not whyisfirefoxblocked.com.
http://digg.com/software/Why_Firefox_is_blocked
Unfortunately, whyfirefoxisblocked.com is alive and well. - colonelpanic, on 10/10/2007, -8/+260dugg for submitter being honest about his mistake.
- ToastedZergling, on 10/10/2007, -28/+265Thank you for using whyisfirefoxblocked.com backed by the same security used in making Internet Explorer.
- jtwyrrpirate, on 10/10/2007, -22/+256oops, here's the link to the screenshot: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1223/1173362432_6204dc240a_b.jpg

- submitproof, on 10/10/2007, -4/+68what a pity it's not the actual site
- mmockett, on 10/10/2007, -4/+68You silly billy!
- willisan, on 10/10/2007, -7/+69I hacked it. You can paypal me the money. Thanks!
- kurtwinter, on 10/10/2007, -2/+55God, I think the douche who owns the "real" ***** site must have taken a small business startup lesson from the RIAA. First, alienate your customers, treat them like the criminals they are because of the actions of the few, and then stand in the way of reality.
- senatorkevin, on 11/06/2007, -4/+50Remember when stories actually got flagged as inaccurate? Those were the days...
- khail250, on 10/10/2007, -4/+49sh4rkb1t3 owns whyisfirefoxblocked.com and is pissed
- manitoba98xp, on 10/10/2007, -5/+48It wasn't hacked. The original domain was whyfirefoxisblocked.com, not whyisfirefoxblocked.com. Marked as inaccurate.
- lcmatt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+43O'Reilly has replied to whyfirefoxisblocked:
http://www.oreillynet.com/xml/blog/2007/08/dear_whyfirefoxisblockedcom.html - fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -13/+52Well no it's not really.
- oldhick, on 10/10/2007, -3/+41What a ridiculous statement. Its my computer, my OS, and my browser. I can do with it what I want. I can block ads with Firefox just like I can change the channel on my TV during a commercial, or like I can record my show and fast forward through it. There are any number of ways to avoid advertising on TV and radio and the idea that doing it on the Internet is theft, is just ignorant.
- s1mph0ny, on 10/10/2007, -2/+36YELLOW ORANGE GREEN WHITE BLACK!
- TFGeditor, on 10/10/2007, -3/+36Well, I contend the advertisers are going "too far" in using MY BANDWIDTH that I PAY FOR to downolad their ads. Further, all the ad loading slows page rendering.
Label me an unrepentent AdBlock user (as well as NoScript, FlashBlock, and BugMeNot). - Myonosken, on 10/10/2007, -1/+34Stick on a few google ads? Awesome, we both win. Stick on "FREE SMILEYS LOLZ!" "ZAP THE WASP" flashing soundfilled banners and then I turn on Adblock.
- honeymustardn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+33But it wasn't hacked... this is what the site has always been.
- twentytortures, on 11/06/2007, -2/+34Well doesn't it redirect people with firefox browsers anyways? So doesn't it make sense that the majority is firefox?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+35Dear dumbass.
The internet existed before anyone used it for ads. - EvolvedAnt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+31How do you block a browser whos user agent details can be changed to look like Internet Explorer or any other browser? Heck we can even mask our browsers to imitate the google web crawler bot, and we all KNOW these guys who rely on ads and search engine ranking would never block google!
The original webmaster is wasting his time, his complaints are nothing more than disgruntled wastes of bandwidth that will make no difference on the web. - InetRoadkill, on 10/10/2007, -5/+36Cry me a river, asswipe.
Adblock wouldn't exist if it weren't for webmaster's love of shove-it-down-your-throat, pop-up, pop-down, screaming animation, just-how-annoying can-we-make-this style of advertisement.
Most people are tolerant or even supportive of ads financing a website. But there's a limit to how aggressive you can be before people rebel. If you insist on using obnoxious advertising techniques, then expect to be blocked. It's your own damn fault. - DanAtkinson, on 10/10/2007, -1/+31Would have been nice if it was the real thing!
- crushfan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30I can help. I've NORTON!
- Snakedal337, on 10/10/2007, -9/+37buried inaccurate
- Lyght, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28Have you met my friend, the period? "." You can use it to end sentences!
- Paroparo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27Publicly burying oneself -> massive diggs? This site loooves honesty.
- dondara, on 10/10/2007, -3/+29***** you. Nobody ever claimed theft if I turn the channel on TV when a commercial comes on. Thats a ***** argument. Who cares if they make money? The interweb was great back in the day when nobody showed ads then scumbags like you infested it with mortgage, penis pills and other ***** ads for ***** that nobody needs. I'll block whatever the ***** I want and no marketing ***** is going stop me.
- Disillusion, on 10/10/2007, -10/+35Whoever it was didn't want to be too anonymous since they put their spreadfirefox affiliate link in.
- Ouze, on 10/10/2007, -5/+29sadly, also buried as inaccurate since it's the wrong page. But that would be awesome, srsly.
- KingBabi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23Obviously uberfu is a victim of some Pac Man-related rampage.
All his periods were eaten. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25bah... not really hacked... URL is different.
- InetRoadkill, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23I am curious. I'm assuming that the whyfirefoxisblocked is a redirect from the actual ad-infested website. What's the URL of the original site?
- kodek, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22Whoosh!
- pbaehr, on 10/10/2007, -4/+25Damn, I feel kind of bad undigging it, what with you catching your own mistake and all.
Still, with all the attention the original site has been getting lately it's only a matter of time... - manitoba98xp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20The original site was whyfirefoxisblocked.com, not whyisfirefoxblocked.com (which this one is). The site wasn't hacked, someone just bought a similar domain name.
- klick37, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20That site has a great section on Firefox myths. My personal favorite:
"Myth - "Firefox is spelled 'FireFox' and abbreviated FF"
Reality - Firefox is spelled F-i-r-e-f-o-x - only the first letter capitalized (i.e. not FireFox, not Foxfire, FoxFire or whatever else a number of folk seem to think it to be called.) The preferred abbreviation is "Fx" or "fx". - Source"
Man, he really goes right for the balls. - cinder, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Epic disappointment right there. Too bad it's not the real site.
- CatalystGhost, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Right, there's plenty of sites that I go to that I know have ads, and they're the kind of ads that just display a picture. Or, if it has animation, it's slow-transition, easy-fading, and good on the eyes. I can tolerate that. I can't tolerate swarms of porn ads, pop-ups, those stupid "swat the fly!" game ads, flashy, bright ads, and most importantly, ads with sound. ***** those ones. Get rid of ads like those, and I will get rid of ad-block in a heart beat.
- francisew, on 10/10/2007, -6/+22Why firefox is blocked? See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_retardation

:) - Zhay, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16Have you noticed how about 99% of all websites aren't valid (X)HTML?
- LoudNoise, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19I though I had to click on an ad for you to even being to get revenue. Funny, b/c even if I'm on a computer without Adblock, I still never click the ads. Ever.
You aren't getting money from me either way, so quit whining. I run my personal site by paying for it myself, each month. Get over it. - takeda, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Actually I agree with you, people who have AdBlockPlus most likely know how to bypass this. Other people most likely don't block ads unless someone installed it for them.
- joeleslie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14What, tolerate the opinion of a guy who thinks blocking ads is stealing?
- shortarabguy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Wouldn't really matter, none of us could see it since everyone on Digg uses firefox, lol...
