- Lite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wardriving is fun just to see how many hits you get
- Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seeing as I managed to find 20 networks without passwords and 30 networks overall on a drive from my friends house to mine (about a mile), using just a dashboard widget on my iBook. . .well, I don't think I need any tools to wardrive, its just too easy where I am, anyone, no matter how inept, can do it.
- xVern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the best software doesnt mean every piece they can find.
annoying, but it'd be alright for someone starting out. - ooooo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if anyone can see my base station they are free to use it! ( just a hidden name no wep (it won't alow you to do anything bad only port 80 access to only whitlisted domains)) lol
- modeps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The "Best Software"?? This list is way too long to be a best of list.
- stanswx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It'd be better if they were sorted by operating system and ranked by viewers. Oh well, I guess that's what the control-f key is for. :)
- NeedPass, on 11/29/2007, -0/+0Nice
- thecapitalizt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Meh. Wardriving is so 2 years ago.
- JooMommy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wouldn't put too much faith in this site. They failed to list Whoppix, PHLAK, and many other great Linux distros for penetration testing and wardriving.
- frankietears, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It would be nice if it was split up by OS.
I splurged on an expensive Linksys PCI card that has awesome range, but has no Linux compatible drivers. (Don't tell me about ndiswrapper, I'll strangle you) My internal is too weak to even work with. I guess there's just not much you can do even after installing WinPcap.
btw, I don't see "best of" anywhere. Just looks like a list. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1^^^ why because you think WEP and WPA will save you?
- jambarama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Save yourself some time and get the Auditor LiveCD. It has brilliant hardware detection (including wifi card, thanks to NDIS wrapper), and has nearly any security tool (including wardriving and nonwardriving security tools) you would want. http://new.remote-exploit.org/index.php/Auditor_main
We'd play a game at college a nearby apartment and mine, to see how long our wireless routers could go without being comprimised by the other team. The longest anyone went (when the other was using auditor) was 1 day. - zbeast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you war drive be nice.
If you use someones open wi-fi don't suck up all the bandwidth,
I like file trading and traiders but don't torrent across someones open wi-fi.
it works poorly and it tends to flood network the network.
If my machines sees that happening it will ban your mac!
I run all my open wi-fi connections through a firewall Proxy and sniffer filters.
So I can see what your doing and surfing. So think of that next time you think your being slick. someone could be reading your mail and laffing at your bad sexy party photos.
Some of this stuff is better than TV.
To the guy with the Doc Martins a nice tan and nothing else, your hot. I'm keeping your /pictures/cannon/ dir - dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Auditor is good, as is WHAX
Also, where are the comments about it "being to long to be a best-of list"
"Best" isn't mentioneded :S
Anyway, usefull enough..
Links to guides on setting up/using them would make that list a lot more.. pointfull (New word?)
- Ben - boscorelle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great list
- randylovin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1People still Wardrive? I can't walk 6 feet without having some sort of wireless network access.
- richhand, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There used to be a program that allowed you to watch who was on your network. You could mark the allowed hosts (MAC addresses) and it would alert when an unknown MAC connected.
Does anyone know this program's name and where to get it? - eric123abacus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow zbeast is a loser
- nuclearpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At my store I get notified if someone I don't know starts sniffing around my connection. I don't want you leaching monkeys sucking off of my nice network that I pay good money for.
Go ***** yourselves if you think this is a good thing. Remember, some people have to pay for the bandwidth you pirate. - eN1X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome....illegal activities are so stimulating!
- zbeast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I set up my AP for my use and I leave it open for my open for my convenience
some person or group of persons decided they were going to try to take advantage of my good will and attach my machines and flood my network.
I used tech knowledge to mitigate that attract, while at the same time teaching my how to write AP control software and have a little fun.
If you don't things like this stay off other people nets mister eric123abacus. - zbeast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My stuff is home homebrew, It outputs just log files and data files for control.
Not what your looking for.
Look here. http://www.tech-faq.com/wi-fi-software-tools.shtml
You kind of have to proxy you connection AP to Detect that kind of thing. - chrisbudden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can't seem to get on the site!
