Are you kidding me? Because a book is old I should believe that Moses parted rivers? Are you retarded? Homer's book, the Illiad was freaking dated back to 7th century BC, that's right, BC. Does that mean it is fact? Does anyone consider that to be true? NO.
Your ignorance is laughable if you consider the bible to be a book of truth because it has "lasted so long" - stuffedstich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I will take the higher ground and not flame discloke. But I do have to make one comment.
Actually you cant learn from a book that has "lasted" so long. The book has soooo many contradictions in it, its not worth reading. Also if you read the bible and beleive in it, let me refer you to deuteronomy, 22:24. - geedubber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0did anyone grab a screenshot?
- gklitt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0search is working normally.
- AOLis1337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Why do atheist need to tell us their atheists! Weirdoes. And why would we care if you burn some book, you can burn every bible and you can't stop the idea of a great being. You freakin' book burner don't you think you can learn from a book that has lasted so long."
Your grammar explains to me how you can be so blatantly ignorant.
ninja edit: I'm an atheist. :) - stuffedstich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@gunnaf
you are my hero :-) - stuffedstich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@xamox
you make a good point. Don't force religion onto people. Don't try and repent them. Ive heard more times from alot of my friends that street evangelists will go to them and say "You must repent NOW or your going to hell!" What if i wanna repent tomarrow?
its nice that you have a beleif system and you made your life better on it, but dont think it will make someone elses life better. Some recent news has been about the bad things christianity can do. Like the man who killed his 3 year old child because he thought he was going to grow up gay. - pietistic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Deuteronomy 22:24 (Contemporary English Version) :: "If a man is caught in town having sex with an engaged woman who isn't screaming for help, they both must be put to death. The man is guilty of having sex with a married woman. And the woman is guilty because she didn't call for help, even though she was inside a town and people were nearby. Take them both to the town gate and stone them to death. You must get rid of the evil they brought into your community."
Please note that this was in the Old Testament. The Old Testament laws were very strict; there was no forgiveness for the sin of man until Jesus came to die for us. Only by the shed of his blood were we able to be forgiven as sinners; confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and
believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Amen. - tuartboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^^ Yeah, according to the Christian religious beliefs, @pietistic is right. Never pretend you know more about something than someone else. Listen with an open mind and learn from them. That doesn't mean you sold out, or are now some kind of "drone" or something. It just means you have respect for your fellow man and tolerate his beliefs.
I'm sure a lot of people have bad tastes in their mouths about Christians, but the a lot (if not the majority) of them really are good people with good hearts. It's the bad few that people see. It's the same with the terrorists. Nearly all Arabs are good people. It's the bad few who we see.
PS. I am deist (for context), so you can't pin me. I'm just standing up for them. - xamox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The problem is a lot of Christians and catholics have a dualistic view of the world. They assume if you do not worship their god then you must worship Satan or that you are a sinner. I was raised catholic for almost 20 years, pretty hardcore ass well. I have attended Latin mass more than I can count. I am no longer catholic or establish my beliefs in that system. The problem always is that no matter how much I argue with my father or grandfather they normally have no base of logic in their reasoning. I'll ask them to explain something such as wisdom teeth, why we need them removed, and how that fits into their religious views but they can't ever answer my question. It's great if Christianity has changed your life and made you a better person. The problem comes when I'm in town or at school and someone walks up to me and hands me a pamphlet that the cover is something like a joke and then you open it up and it starts talking about joining Christianity. God should not be used as propaganda. You should not be tricked or scared into joining a religion. It should be something that you want to accept.
- SilentSpyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I never been to a WalMart and don't plan to ever go. I'm happy with my Gap clothes and sturbucks lattes.
- mutant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^dagyo:
There *was* a problem.. I went to Walmart.com (not clicking on the story), and tried searching for things 7 ways from sunday and always got the bible page, using thier form, and thier submit. - fugitivALiEN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0stuffed, what about 22:24? what about context?
- Macizzle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1JESUS ROCKS!
*looks around*
..Oh. - GarySZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wierd - at first I thought they fixed it, because searching for "TV" actually takes me to televisions - but then I tried searching for "ipod," "vcr," "dvd," and "bike" - all things that I know Walmart carries, and what do I get? Bibles, of course!
Strange - maybe the "hacker" thinks televisions are OK? - Florian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Jesus needs all the help he can get.
- SilverRocket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Look at the bright side - getting a Bible before an iPod means that God will think its totally cool for you to steal music!
- habu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh my god...
- techmonk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey... i want a quran.

THIS IS NOT A HACK
******************
Sorry, folks. I hate to be the party pooper, but this story is nothing more than a clever manipulation of the WalMart search engine. Look:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=416096&redirect_query=this+is+clearly+faked
What you are all missing is the cat=416096 part of the URL. This category ID is specifically the "Bibles" category (Home Page > Books > Bibles).
ANYTHING you search for in this category will bring up the default listing, which (in this particular category) is (you guessed it) Bibles!
So... though it appears it was submitted here first (and subsequently submitted to Fark), it appears that the Farkers have discovered the fraud first. Here's the thread:
http://forums.fark.com/cgi/fark/comments.pl?IDLink=1639251
Have an excellent day! Wooooot digg! - DiscoLoke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I never said the bible is 100% truth idiot, I said we can learn from a book that has survived the test of time. Especially for learning moral lessons. We can also learn from Homers book... so I don't see the point of your worthless comment Gunaff. Besides from what I see the only ones pushing their views are the Christian bashers... at least here anyways. SO you guys blame christians because you can't get laid and nobody likes you... well maybe they don't like you because you bash views you don't share. Look at how aggravated you guy's get at the first sign of Christian beliefs or even the word bible. That's hilarious!
- redzombi2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you type in "tv" it will go straight to tv's, that's the only one that I found so far that will bypass this. just FYI. :)
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"great, this will probably turn into more Christian bashing on Digg... great"
I hear you, majority of people will never have respect for others. - b00ts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'll second mutant's sentiments...it was hacked. try the link now, it does not work.
i also tried hitting the site directly - stuffedstich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want the pastifarian bible finished so i can read it.
RAmen - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want that new iBible that holds like 10,000 verses.
- smackfu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No, "koran" still gets you bibles.
- bvaughn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha
- wildjohn999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0probably not a hack, most likely bad indexing of their site, or developer error.
wal-mart rules - keep rolling back those prices! - alexwitter, on 06/11/2009, -0/+0meh its been fixed
- Chiablo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's working now.
- sparty1969, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It only does it when you search for certain items like iPod and fish. If you type in video it gives you video's. But it's still funny.
- dentz1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i was looking for porn....
- HydraulicToast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"or this is what we've come to..."
What does that mean? - Choadsy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, stuffed needs to calm down. I don't see anyone stuffing anything down anyones throats. You knew what was coming when you clicked on it. Otherwise, you wouldn't be commenting on here.
- cyberbuddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0search for "inmotion".. bibles dont come up.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0HAleluia !
AMen!
Good NOght! - DiscoLoke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why do atheist need to tell us their atheists! Weirdoes. And why would we care if you burn some book, you can burn every bible and you can't stop the idea of a great being. You freakin' book burner don't you think you can learn from a book that has lasted so long.
- adamzap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dang, that was awesome while it lasted
- Choadsy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh, no...now it's a debate....please....stop....no more religion talk or lack of religion talk. Please, no! It does no good on either side! I liked stuffed's reply. I understand now. Thanks.
- Andir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Honestly though, even if it was just a play on the URL, I wouldn't have been surprised if it was true. They've been pushing what they think you want. They only sell censored CDs, "clean" books, and whatever they feel is good for the "community". I've always thought Sam Walton was a peddler of their ideas, not products.
- bvaughn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not what you're looking for? View a list of items that match your search for "camera".
- Tenchi-kun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks like it's back to working normally now. :( I think it would've been funny to have all of the people that search on walmart.com during the day be stuck thinking that walmart is saying they need bibles now.
- Gofast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's ***** up
- Gregd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What Would Walmart Do?
- zone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It only worked the first time, then it brings normal results.
- cohagen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hmm... meat grinder works too...
- FzArEkTaH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they fixed that fast :(
