- idc5, on 11/21/2008, -10/+81The government's allowed to legally wiretap our *****, why doesn't CNN cover that? Oh yea, they're just another puppet of the government
- kajoob, on 11/21/2008, -11/+82I seem to recall that when somebody went snooping around Palin's email account, it was a big laugh. Now that somebody is looking at who Obama called, Digg shouts "OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!".
- masamunecyrus, on 11/21/2008, -0/+51Obama voted to give the telecoms retroactive immunity to spying on the American people. It's all fun and games until it happens to you or someone you know, eh?
- noupsell, on 11/21/2008, -37/+88Don't you just love how Verizon is trying to downplay this ---- fta: "In the e-mail, McAdam said that employees who were permitted access to these records will be allowed to return to work, but employees who accessed the account for "anything other than legitimate business purposes will face disciplinary action, up to and including termination." || AND HOW ABOUT FEDERAL PRISON SENTENCES FOR SPYING ON THE FUTURE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES YOU TRAITOROUS *****!
- subigo, on 11/21/2008, -2/+42No? People who make $9.00/hour and hate their job looked at the records of someone famous? That never happens.
/Had a list of famous people's numbers when I worked at MCI in 1998. - noupsell, on 11/21/2008, -6/+40okay maybe that was a bit harsh motivated by my dislike for Verizon, their ***** service and evil early termination fees.
- tman84, on 11/21/2008, -2/+36Should have voted against FISA like you originally said you would. Sucks doesn't it.
- post3r3r, on 11/21/2008, -0/+31Can you hear me now?
- Barackalypse, on 11/21/2008, -5/+35No no, it was simply a warrantless wiretap, just like the kind that Obama voted to grant the telcoms immunity for in the 2008 FISA bill. Now maybe he knows what its like to be spied upon with.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -6/+30It's like I always say about joe the plumber. ***** joe the plumber... and he's not a plumber.
- EarlOfLade, on 11/21/2008, -1/+24It doesn't matter who the victim is. It was wrong then, it is wrong now!
- coltonfrancis, on 11/21/2008, -1/+23It's just awesome how it's ok for them to tap us, but not people of power who need to be kept in check...What a backwards world we live in...
- jeddyftb, on 11/21/2008, -2/+23Shouldn't they be protected under the FISA bill he voted for?
- Hetman, on 11/21/2008, -1/+21Spy on them as they spy on us. That is what you deserve for passing FISA.
- nullcodes, on 11/21/2008, -1/+21If he's not doing anything bad or illegal he has nothing to worry about.
That's what the pro-FISA wiretap people say before spying on the rest of us right? - Sherman901, on 11/21/2008, -1/+18um hey, how about US? who gives a ***** about whether obama is getting tapped or not, what about the american citizens?
- remotehuman, on 11/21/2008, -1/+18i think he needs MORE security
- iancgi, on 11/21/2008, -1/+17So its ok they can tap all our phones but no Obamas?
- LanceUppercut, on 11/21/2008, -1/+16yeah AT&T has a bad-ass track record in regard to privacy and information confidentiality.
- Samurai77, on 11/21/2008, -0/+13The truth stings!
- diggit83, on 11/21/2008, -1/+14I bet it was that red headed ***** from the Alltel commercials....
- mrfoos2, on 11/21/2008, -8/+21How dare you compare a lowly baby birther to the Messiah of Hope and Change?
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -4/+17That pretty much describes every major corporation. lol
- browe07, on 11/21/2008, -0/+11I think this is the first time I've ever seen people be able to say anything remotely negative about Obama on Digg and get dugg up.
- Hetman, on 11/21/2008, -1/+12Obama did not through the little baby off the cliff. He just granted immunity to the man who threw the little baby of the cliff.
- vtnerd, on 11/21/2008, -1/+12How about a federal prison sentences for all of the people who passed the FISA FAA (aka. telecom immunity) while we're at it? It's only fair. Maybe we could get some worthwhile politicians into their spots.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -5/+15Obama is all for illegal wiretaps, check out his FISA vote. And before somebody links me to his NO vote for the telecom immunity amendment let me say that I've seen it and it's nothing more than a smoke screen.
If he were so dead set against the wiretaps he would have voted NO all together.
Oh the burning Irony. - alecks, on 11/21/2008, -3/+13Except for the ***** service part
- DemiRonin, on 11/21/2008, -0/+9that employee is so screwed
- theonlybradever, on 11/21/2008, -9/+18HURRAY for proving you don't know what a socialist is!
- Speed, on 11/21/2008, -1/+10It's just some kid getting minimum wage who found out that Obama uses Verizon. I think we all would be tempted to do the same if we were in his shoes. Only difference is we have enough common sense not to snoop the President-elects private information on a computer that's always monitored.
Really, he only found out the same information any other CSR would've found if Obama called to complain about dropped calls. Dick move? yes. Terrorist plot? Hardly. - PopcornDave, on 11/21/2008, -0/+9Yes, MeatMountain?
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+9LOL
- nullcodes, on 11/21/2008, -1/+9Hey aren't they covered by that great idea for national security -- telecom immunity?
What's the problem? - SuperMoses, on 11/21/2008, -0/+8It wasn't even wiretapping.. it appears it was ONLY his billing record.
So let me get this straight.. accessing Obama's billing records requires disciplinary action, but warrantless wiretapping of regular US citizens is fine and companies are granted immunity??
What a joke. - Akairenn, on 11/21/2008, -1/+8Verizon just became awesome.
Hey Obama, how do you like teleco immunity now? - SuperMoses, on 11/21/2008, -0/+7After immunity, AT&T sponsored the DNC. Corporatism is nice when you're on the receiving end.
- pintomp3, on 11/21/2008, -1/+8dan the painter and joe the plumber? it's like a bad gay porno.
- dustyshadow, on 11/21/2008, -6/+13voting for immunity is the same damn thing you idiot
- LastVisibleDog, on 11/21/2008, -4/+11What next? A political hack illegally using government computers to dig up dirt on a citizen whose only crime was asking a political candidate a non-softball question?
...no, wait.... - pauldy, on 11/21/2008, -1/+8I think it depends on what was in these records. If they were just point A to point B billing information type stuff then firing is sufficient. If however they had access to listening to private voicemails and reading private SMS message then I think they belong in prison and they can sit right beside the fool that hacked Governor Palins e-mail.
- KDelphi, on 11/21/2008, -2/+8Bummer....maybe Obama shouldnt have lead the way in allowing telelcoms to spy on us....
- dustyshadow, on 11/21/2008, -15/+21The wiretapper becomes the wiretapped!
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -1/+7The iPhone is a GSM phone, unlocked or not. Verizon is a CDMA carrier.
You can use an unlocked iPhone on T-Mobile, but taking it to Verizon or Sprint would involve hacking the antenna drivers and firmware to transmit and receive on the CDMA frequences (which might require hardware modifications), rewriting the networking libraries to use whatever protocol CDMA uses for data instead of GPRS/EDGE/whatever 3G protocol GSM uses (HSPDA?), and rewriting the phone application to suipport CDMA signalling instead of GSM. Given that the source code isn't public, that would mean he'd have to either have a man on the inside or be one hell of an assembly hacker.
Somehow, I don't think Obama has the time for that, much less the level of technical knowledge required. - remotehuman, on 11/21/2008, -3/+9hey some guys just get curious.
- talonstriker, on 11/21/2008, -0/+6Why do you even bother posting such a long post? ADHD people have longer attention spans than diggers.
- d3dm, on 11/21/2008, -1/+7Joe the Plumber will soon become "Joe the Plaintiff" in a lawsuit against the State of Ohio. The investigation uncovered a number of searches into his private information that should never be allowed, all initiated from within the state government.
The woman (Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Director Helen Jones-Kelley) has been suspended for one month for her wrongful actions. She should have been fired, but it's damn near impossible to fire people entrenched in civil service. I suppose that it's only a coincidence that she donated $2500 to Obama's campaign.
Joe will make far more that $250K next year if that lawsuit pays off. Get ready to spread that wealth, Joey! - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -3/+9Then you aren't one of the people kajoob was talking about.
- roctimo, on 11/21/2008, -0/+6Long post is stupid.
