- fenix25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I still haven't cleaned that blasted virus. Stupid Norton!
- bradford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In celebration of the 20th Anniversary, a new Internet worm has been created named "Pinky". Pinky is designed to search for instances of Brain across the Internet for purposes of possible World Domination.
- Skrolnik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Computer Viruses existed before Brain on the PC. Apples had viruses back as early as '81. And before that you had virus-like worm malware on the big mainframes.
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just found out that all the people I was talking to on aim was some stupid virus. )";
- DewayneSmith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ah the joys of avast! antivirus on my laptop and Linux on my desktops and servers.

- TheDarkTipper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They shall call it Pinky and the Brain!
- MikeKnoop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lmao. This is really ironic, because only 3 years ago in a computer class I had, the teacher forced us to run all floppy discs by her, so she could scan them with an antivirus before we could use them in our computers. I always wondered wtf? Now I know :-)
-Mike - blingfinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love you and I hope your here to stay.... Viruses, Oh how I love thee! You keep food on my table. You keep my wallet green. Long live the virus! and, somebody, somebody with nothing better to do. Somebody with a will to annoy. Please, please I beg of you, make some nasty virus for Mac's....... It's only a matter of time. Water erodes even the strongest of materials.
- TheDarkTipper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heres to another 20 years (raises mug).
- Inferny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it can't be extinct... Somewhere.. there is a computer or floppy disk that has the virus.. Probably in a data-bank of past viruses.
- jumjum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In the early 90s viruses absolutely killed your system. A friend of mine even showed me a simple BAT file he wrote with three lines of text that could erase your entire hard drive. However the virus I feared the most was Michelangelo.
http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/michel.shtml - CaptSnuffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't fool yourself, Unix, it's variants, and the assorted Mac OSes have all had vrisues too; they just had a better track record than Windows. Nothing's perfect, but something is better than nothing.
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yay!! Virus....Best computer invention of ALL time!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Please dont use Norton products, THEY are the virus'. :-/
- njbair, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hmm... i'm afraid to click the link!
- link470, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what kind of tool was smart enough to stick a floppy with a virus into theyre computer and load an exe file...floppy drives arent even autorun lol
- kblowers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can write a .bat file that would wipe your entire drive in one line, big deal (format c: /y), that's not a virus, it has to replicate itself, in fact that's all a virus has to do is replicate itself, destruction is not part of it's definition
- achew22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@link470: This kind of virus (propagated by floppy) were spread via computers improperly configured to check for floppy disks on boot up then load them. There was no .exe even, just some low level program that cleaned out your master boot record.
- egbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 Wrong!!! The first known circulating computer virus is about 24 years old.
quoting wikipedia: "A program called "Elk Cloner" is credited with being the first computer virus to appear "in the wild" -- that is, outside the single computer or lab where it was created. Written in 1982 by Rich Skrenta, it attached itself to the Apple DOS 3.3 operating system and spread by floppy disk."
And, "The first PC virus was a boot sector virus called Brain, created in 1986 by two brothers, Basit and Amjad Farooq Alvi, operating out of Lahore, Pakistan. The brothers reportedly created the virus to deter pirated copies of software they had written." - humayoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow In Pakistan eh. They had computers there back then??
- zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone got a copy? ;p
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah but the real question is...
What kind of logo will Google do for it? - mstankovic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"propagated by floppy" just like
http://digg.com/software/20_years_of_Windows_3
Coincidence? Naaah!
