- laughtears, on 01/28/2009, -0/+42one idea to retain anonymity: don't digg or comment on this story
- peheimbach, on 01/28/2009, -0/+35Do they really think bosses aren't going to be able to figure out who's kvetching? My rants are DEFINITELY going to sound a lot different than the two other senior staffers in my company (mostly b/c one just kisses arse all the time), and VERY definitely going to sound different than the average office worker in our 30 person company.
Yeah. I'll be using that REAL soon. - selfprodigy, on 01/28/2009, -1/+31One boss mandated a talk like a pirate day....
And people complained? - BristolMyLove, on 01/28/2009, -0/+27I'm the only employee... he's never going to guess who told him he's fat and ugly.
- inactive, on 01/28/2009, -1/+22"The new viral site will officially launch during the Super Bowl on Sunday."
Shouldn't we wait until after something has been launched to declare it viral or not? - dehmann, on 01/28/2009, -1/+20Wait, laughtears is your real name?
- ahawks, on 01/28/2009, -3/+22Or don't be a passive agressive prick, maybe.
- Arock66, on 01/28/2009, -0/+17How is this any different from making a random gmail account and emailing them?
- lelebelle, on 01/28/2009, -1/+14Yeah...That doesn't have the potential to backfire or anything.
- getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -1/+13Oh, the boss can always tell. I know after I've kvetched I always get really verklempt and start shvitzing.
- psion01, on 01/28/2009, -0/+11This is so awesome! I'm my boss's only employee, so I don't have anyone else I can gripe to who understands what I'm talking about.
Now I'm gonna get it all out of my system and tell her off anonymously! - Zoshchenko, on 01/28/2009, -0/+9What could possibly go wrong?
- benbrooks101, on 01/28/2009, -1/+9Self employed?
- inactive, on 01/28/2009, -0/+7this site is essentially worthless
- HoneyHamilton, on 01/28/2009, -1/+8this is really immature.
- had3l, on 01/28/2009, -0/+6America was founded on the values of freedom and equality. You can't force people to like pirates, what if they are into ninjas or robots instead? Thomas Jefferson would frown upon such behavior - While keeping a hundred slaves locked in his basement of course.
- inactive, on 01/28/2009, -1/+7yarrrr... take yer pink slip and walk the plank!
- PaperJesus, on 01/28/2009, -0/+6A badger in a garbage bag also works.
- OrangeTide, on 01/28/2009, -0/+6If you get some ***** letter from someone it's not that hard to figure out who sent it. The tone of the message can usually narrow it down.
Plus antagonizing your boss is not really going to put him/her in a great mood, you have to work with this person. Even if you hate their guts it's not going to help things to have them pissed off all day too. - veriix, on 01/28/2009, -0/+5Pro Tip: Don't sign it
- BonJoevi, on 01/28/2009, -0/+5viral comment just went viral
- grbruner, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4gmail doesn't have talking alligators...yet
- ridd1e, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4In this scheme, the author will blackmail your ass one day. ;)
- Jsmuli2, on 01/28/2009, -1/+5Oy and don't get me started with the ulcers! What a pain in the tuchus!
- lisaawesome, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4I didn't tell off my boss. I just quit.
- xtmno3, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4Viral is the new fad. Everything is viral, everything is a meme, etc etc. Ignore it until the general population loses interest.
- linagee, on 01/28/2009, -0/+3Everyone gets fired, lots of new job openings, Obama gets to keep his promise of creating "millions of new job openings".
- maxlightz, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3i drew a huge picture of a penis and scanned it to a guy in a different building - it was awesome!
- publiclurker, on 01/28/2009, -0/+3But firearm purchases require a cooling off period in this state.
- edqd, on 01/28/2009, -6/+9definitely NSFW!!
- Pasaris, on 01/28/2009, -0/+3I'm no tech wizard, but couldn't you just set up a phony email account and send them a message?
- b33fj3rky, on 01/28/2009, -0/+3Dear boss: I am sending you this anonymous e-mail because I am so freakin' sick of your inability to handle even the most basic computer tasks, such as opening files, creating new folders, or reading your e-mail.
Oh, wait... - spritom, on 01/28/2009, -1/+4What if I'm my boss' only employee?
- aolshove, on 01/28/2009, -0/+3Not the best timing for this tool given the global economic status. Maybe roll this out after the recession? I'm in more of a lay low/kiss ass/be productive mode right now.
- dhoneywell, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2People should grow a pair and talk to their boss. Show your boss that you have some self confidence. For some reason I think anonymous bitching isn't going to help anybody get what they want. Besides, how is this any different from making a fake yahoo address and sending harassing emails?
- Ubersmush, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2When I'm the head of the company every day will be talk like a pirate day. Those who do not obey will walk the plank right out the window. YARRRRRRR
- inactive, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2There was a Canibus remake of the song in Office Space.
- inactive, on 01/28/2009, -1/+3Uhhh, more like a David Allan Coe and/or Johnny Paycheck reference.
- maxlightz, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2Why can't i have the boss that mandated the "talk like a pirate day" ?!
That would be absolutely hilarious working in phone sales! - linagee, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2That does not have a marketing campaign behind it.
- BonJoevi, on 01/28/2009, -1/+3I know you are but what am I?
- WaldoX, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2Grow some balls and tell them off personally.
- dixieleopard, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2"In the survey, reports of real-life bad boss behavior included stories of one boss who used a taser on a subordinate, one who tap-danced on a worker's desk, another who showed everyone a kidney stone that he had passed, and another who mandated a "talk like a pirate day."
All I saw while reading that was Michael Scott's goofy face and Jim giving the camera the "Ehh" look. - ahawks, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2OrangeTide basically put it in a nicer way.
If you have a problem with someone, sending an "anonymous" passive agressive note like this will just agitate them more.
Man up and deal with it in a mature way, resolve the issues. - Topher06, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2I don't know how many bosses I have told off to their face, its like I have a new one every month.
- peteyb1313, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2hahaha getting the guy to say "***** you kindly sir" in a British accent is amusing
- jamaster06, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2If you piss off the boss he or she is just going to be a bigger ***** so why bother?
- bg2500, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2I guess I am lucky to have an intelligent boss I can be honest with face to face and hash out problems. So, I would never use something like this.
Also, if you have ever looked at your digg profile from work, the URL string is in a log somewhere and someone might know who you are. Example: http://digg.com/users/bg2500. So, think before you say something here about this.
I guess one last thought is that this might be a good way to clue someone in on something but they have to be the kind of person who would be receptive to criticism and actually understand what is being said to them. Most people who would require that kind of wake up call probably would not be receptive to that kind of thing so it would be a rare chance this would ever be effective anyway. - defektiv, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2I'm waiting for one (or both) of those hot chicks across the building to anonymously tell me they love me.. I just hope it's not the overweight, balding facilities guy that stares at me when I'm on my way to the bathroom.
- VeritasAequitas, on 01/28/2009, -0/+2Hmm better make sure you have another job lined up and don't need that reference from your current boss in the future and in this economic climate I don't think I'd want to risk it. And if I were you I wouldn't do this on your companies network. Especially if your work has a proxy or anything of that nature in place. Just saying, this might not be as anonymous as you think.
