- paperhat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4In theory, this is fun. In practice, it is very boring.

It's really wierd when you realize you physically MOVING something 5,000 miles away and watching people drive to work in japan. - Flex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yep... I always get a kick out of these.
Flex. - homer23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks cool, but I don't really get it. why are these available to mess with?
- .Steven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dugg down?

I wasn't aware that there was an expiration date on news. - aqualung, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I found one of monkeys in a cage...
- cheese06, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@masterzora it might have been "out" 6 months ago, but people dont keep track of everything on the internet, and unlike you, many dont visit digg.com every single friggin day.
- Soniti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I wasn't aware that there was an expiration date on news."
Hate to burst your bubble, but it's called NEWS, not OLDS.
News has a very quick expiration date.
~Soniti - danmanx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They are supposed to be controlled like this.
Poster, you are not familiar with intelligence are you? - Spazkake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg effect ALL of them!
- systemghost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol internet is fun.
- nate263, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kind of fun. The comtrols are weird but then again this isn't an FPS, its a camera.
- bitjunky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0would be nice to tie this in to google maps.
- DJPandemonium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Rather fun.
So far I've found cameras in Japan (couldn't figure out where it was until I got a shot of a Japanese flag) and Australia (did a whois). Plus a couple random mall parking lot cameras.
I'm amused. - silent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fun controlling the camera and watching someone else control it too. Probaby other diggers at the moment :)
- INHUMANITY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0fun :)
- Skitzo444, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How do you control the camera?
- panoptican, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What I like about this is that I am god. Well, not really. But I like to move the cameras around as much as possible and try to get someones attention. Like once, I had a cam in some Japanese laundromat and I kept moving it and the lady noticed. It was funny. I laughed. You should laugh too.
- NiX0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Perhaps some of these camera are for genuine security and should be left alone or take off the 'internet'."
None of our concern. That's the job of "Security" professionals. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love this stuff. I saw a thread on a forum for this a little while back. I had fun all night screwing with camera's in asia.
- ironbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The government sychrotron intense light source camera is quite fun...also amazing it's not secured.
- beaversit.com, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I controlled the airport one for a few seconds, but I lost control of it before the timer ran out - and whoever re-gained control put the camera back to the plane it was on before I moved it.
Makes me wonder if this is someones air traffic control camera and they don't want it screwed with. Now I understand why this is "scary". Perhaps some of these camera are for genuine security and should be left alone or take off the 'internet'. - I-Train, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is pretty much the ultimate time waster. and i mean that in a good way.
- viday, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did you see this one? you can watch people go in and out of the *****.

- antiwmac, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"most of the links go to unsecure cameras that you can take complete control of. The fact that this is possible is quite scary."
hah??????????????????????????????????????
Liveapplets are set for purpose of let everyone control, and it is normally used in viewing mountains, resorts etc.
they are all made to let everyone control the camera from the inet, does this made you feel like "look!! i found something vuln!! omg im hacker wahahaha!!" ?
nice joke! - masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@trip9:
"The thing is, while this is old and many people have known about it for a long time there are just as many people, if not more, who didn't know about it. I remember spending tons of time doing this and not everybody was reading hackaday that long ago. So if you don't like it don't dig it, but don't post a comment saying "OMFG OLD!!1!1!11"."
Hardly sounds democratic... It's like saying "if you don't like my candidate, don't vote, and don't campaign against him."
Because, you see, the thing is, it doesn't matter how many people haven't seen this, the fact that it is so old automatically disqualifies it from being news, and Digg.com is about technology news. - trip9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0While digg is reffered to as a news site, half of the things on it are more 'sweet check this out' than actual news. A flash game was one of the highest dug articles last week. I submitted this story not because it was new, i had known about it since last year. But because i searched and there was nothing using this technique that was submitted, and the ones using a diffferent technique were never promoted. I though it was cool and thought that other people might agree with me, I never intended for it to be news. And I find it scary that anyone can have unrestricted access to cameras that were obviously meant for private or business use. I guess everybody is so used to reality tv that this doesn't seem creepy, but it's a tad to 'little brother' like to me.
- sheldonwilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0One that might be worth watching:
havasuwebcam.com/sample/LvAppl/lvappl.htm - Kruncher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not 2 minutes after I posted that someone came in and shut off the lights :(

Pan to the left wall, there is a computer rack. On that rack are some papers under the mouse. The left paper (the one with the pen on it) has a password written on it (you can tell because it says "password"), I can't make out the password. Can any of you? - rewritable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I found one in a closet with a light on, there were a bunch of pipes and then all of a sudden the camera fell and died.
- Nerfdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"but it's a tad to 'little brother' like to me."
...big brother...
i found one of a wheel showroom (walls covered in chrome wheels), panned all the way to the right, and found a sign displaying the name of the store. searched for the store on google, found their website, and on the main page was a link to the camera. - Lesli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@masterzora
"Because, you see, the thing is, it doesn't matter how many people haven't seen this, the fact that it is so old automatically disqualifies it from being news, and Digg.com is about technology news."
Don't get me wrong here, I agree that this _is_ a technology news site and as such, it seems a bit ridiculous to have something quite old appear on the front page. However, it just seems a bit more constuctive to just report the story and go on with your browsing rather than comment on every single one of those stories with "Lame!/Old!/Dupe! No digg for you!" when five other people have already said it.
I'm not flaming you, so don't get the wrong idea. You seem to be one of the few who isn't screaming "omgwtf old, no digg"... I hate having to sift through tons of stories like this and "OMG WHICH FAMILY GUY CHARACTER R U QUIZ??!!11" just as much as anybody else but it gets just as tiring to see people leaving the same lame comments. - unknowndomain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Why are u all bitchin who cares if its old, new or OMFG just put cool comments of thins about the post not that its been dugg 100 times before who cares, not me and im sure most ppl dnt. It was promoted to the front for a reason so let it go.
- striker1211, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This was cool last February... but now... not so much.
- XsolidusX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0this is cool
