- tribalsun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I will never hold a Paypal account ever again. They have the worse customer support (non-existent) and screw people out of their money. They essentially can do whatever they want with your money and you have very little recourse of action to take against them. Paypal needs to be investigated by the feds, seriously.
- fugitivALiEN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1paypayl = ebay = paypal = i hate them... i used them for years and years...until i got hornswaggled by a buyer and long story short my paypal and ebay accounts are suspended, and after my account was suspended everyone in my extended family had their accounts suspended as well.. now ain't that some sh*t...

please please please tell me you know those emails are nothing but spam scams and have nothing to do with PayPal?
fwiw, we've been using PayPal for about 5 years now with no issues (knock on wood trim), and many of our customers and suppliers use PayPal as well, and I haven't heard of any complaints by them either. - kensavage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I do $10,000's a month of transaction through PayPal and they've never been a problem for me.
- Brightstar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thank god this came out, my friend was about to do himself in so i passed this to him as soon as i saw it.
- MannaPC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0PayPal is a rather neat site... But it is sorta like the popular site Neopets.com. Needs to be upgraded.
- BASK1104, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Paypal has some security issues. For example changing the price to whatever you want.
- dandiemer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they froze my friends account because he went from doing $3,000 a month on average to $60,000 a month, which they said is inconcievable without doing somehting fraudulant. all he really did was figure a way to list things on eaby effectively, in a 100% legal manner.
- nuclearpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have never used paypal and I never will. I'll trust my financial transactions to real banks/companies and not some 3rd party internet company.
- eilorux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just closed my account. I'm sick of eBay/PayPal and their off-the-cuff way of handling things. They messed with Newzbin.com one too many times too.
- zwilliams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So basically its just Paypal continuing to suck? I hope PayPal dies a horrible painful death, they screwed me out of $50, and one of my friends who was taking a donation drive, they screwed him out of $8000.
- brettotte1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I got my paypal acct frozen & had to prove I mailed something when the guy NEVER PAID. Ebay said I had to PROVE I mailed it, yet he gave me 60 neg's 2 minutes after used BIN 60 times. Then ebay suspended me cuz my ratio of +'s to -'s was out of whack. Tons of calls & threats to them finally got it settled, then they suspended my brother, my mom & my dad cuz we have the same last name....um...WHY?
Then PP said "we'd like to being the process of parting ways" cuz my PP acct is a 100% FREE PERSONAL ACCT & that they're not profiting ENOUGH from it. - imtigger2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no problems here
- silho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Since everyone has so many problems with Paypal is there an alternative? Is there any other web site that offers what Paypal is supposed to offer without all of the drama?
- ebob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't have a PayPal account and from what I've been hearing about the service, it is unlikely that I would ever do business with them unless there are major changes. Online payment services need to be regulated similar to the way banks are (thought not exactly like banks are). Even though I don't have an account with them, they keep sending me e-mails to update my information. If they can't keep track of who their customers are (and aren't), how can I trust them to keep track of my money. A friend of mine once used their sister service PayPai and lost a lot of money. PayPai seems to be dead now. I suspect that PayPal will follow.
- BPShirase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...come on google wallet!
- earthtoandy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Karama sucks, doesnt Paypal!? HA!
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Every time I read something like this I am one step closer to closing my PayPal account.
- a99tandem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It called KARMA -- I'm sure it wont be that last problem they have.
- binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kinda like the situation that the million dollar homepage guy had
- oxigen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0/digg. I hate paypal. They shut down my account a few weeks ago due to "suspicious behavior." Apparently one of the credit cards on my account has been reported lost/stolen. The only cards on that account are mine, and my brother's and neither of us reported our cards as stolen! I reported this to PayPal, and I have yet to recieve a reply.
Boo! Down with paypal! - Moby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I used to be a PowerSeller on eBay, but PayPal closed my account. I was told over the phone that I had been red flagged for "suspicious behavior". Apparently, if you transfer money from your balance into your bank account too often then they consider it a sign of possible fraudulent activity. I did it because at the time PayPal had been shutting people's accounts for no reason, as they still do, and it would take up to six months to get your money back.
PayPal's motto is guilty until proven innocent with twenty forms of receipts and several anal cavity searches. - kolanos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And ladies and gentlemen, these are the guys who are going to ruin Skype.
- zwilliams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I have been using both eBay and Paypal for YEARS (I would guess 8-10) and have had absolutely no problems. The only people I have known who have had problems with their accounts DESERVED to have problems with their accounts for their fraudulent practices. If you do something you shouldn't, be accountable for your own actions rather than pointing your finger elsewhere. Grow up, stop blaming people (even in cases where MAYBE you actually didn't deserve it....compared to our legal system, Paypal is still has way less of an error ratio) and get over yourselves!" - pebbles270 (0)
Yeah I really needed my account frozen for trying to purchase a single mint condition of The Sword of Berserk for the Dreamcast. $50 gone because of them. I'm also sure my friend deserved to have his donations for the local church's wheelchair ramp frozen and taken away too. Cause you know how much people deserve to suffer for helping others. You can kiss my caramel colored butt. - techsquad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The fact is that a lot of people are using Paypal to screw over and take advantage of other people. To solve this problem Paypal made a lock down first and ask questions later policy. What they should have done and still should do is hire a lot more people that can check up on all the security problems. That way they can take care of the valid security issues that do happen on a day to day basis, but not hurt the honest people that just do something that could be considered odd. I think most people would understand if they could get things taken care of with in 1 or 2 business days. But with all the complaining does anyone know of a service with all the features of Paypal but with out the hassle. If so, let us know.
- ebob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"please please please tell me you know those emails are nothing but spam scams and have nothing to do with PayPal?" - jaydub
Of course I realize that these e-mails are scams, however, I disagree with the statement that they have nothing to do with PayPal. Many of the people that deal with PayPal are sellers on eBay, and many of them are not technically inclined and may not understand that these e-mails are not from PayPal. The main reason for this is that PayPal communicates to their customers through regular e-mail. If PayPal were to use a closed system to communicate to their customers (similar to what my bank uses), this problem would not be nearly as severe because people would understand that PayPal does not communicate to their customers through regular e-mail, but only on their website.
The incidents involving the Hurricane Katrina donations and the Million-Dollar homepage only underscore the credibility problems with this company. While I can understand an occasional glitch in their system, this seems to occur too frequently and the resolution often appears inadequate. The only way they can be trusted as a payment service, in my opinion, is through federal regulation. Until that happens, I will continue to pay with a credit card. - earthtoandy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what a terrible silly attitude pebbles has. 'just because i havent had trouble must mean everyone else is a criminal!"
just be quiet.
you should read paypal's TOS....they say really nice things like explaining that if you make any effort to stop fraud against your account (for example a chargeback for an unauthorized charge, or from someone logging into your account) that your account is in breach and will be frozen. how nice. - pebbles270, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I have been using both eBay and Paypal for YEARS (I would guess 8-10) and have had absolutely no problems.
