- NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+87I wonder if this has 'bricked' any Coke machines?
- Humptydank, on 10/12/2007, -5/+89At a press conference in Atlanta on Friday, a representative issued Coca-Cola's only official statement on the issue:
"Pwned *****!" - cheekybastard, on 10/12/2007, -4/+50buying one vault and setting two free.
- Dolomite, on 10/12/2007, -4/+49at least the 7-11 Coke hack still works... you know the one where instead of paying for your Coke at the counter, you shove it down your pants and walk out of the store.
- Unr3a1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+47If you try it now, the coke will stay on the conveyor and the machine won't refund you, so you HAVE TO buy 2 cokes to recoup your losses. I tried it about 2 weeks ago on a machine that this hack used to work on, so this is confirmed.
- Ahnteis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+39Correct. (Well, you can call the contact number and try to get your $1.25 back -- but most people don't find it worth the effort.)
Another nice thing in life ruined by people who think only of themselves. - ptrcd003, on 10/12/2007, -4/+37www.*****.com
- Yankees368, on 10/12/2007, -5/+37SO what happens to the people who actually dont get their drink?
They just don't get a refund? - PatrickFisher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24I was wondering if coke had fixed this. All of the coke machines at my university have had a bunch of coke bottles sitting in the bottom of them for the last month now. It makes the machines totally useless.

On a Coke machine? - stlcadet11, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16Damn, I liked getting 3 vaults for the price of 1...
- stlcadet11, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18borrowing
- anotherjeff, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14damnit i tried doing this today at the mall to impress some girls but it i was humiliated. ***** patch.
- hukedonfonix, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15***** this hack, i got riped for $1.25 when i didn't notice the conveyor belt was stuck. Couldn't get my money refunded either.
- davidsmero, on 10/12/2007, -4/+115 Diggs for you sir :-)
- gvetterick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I'd bet any sales rep worth his weight will reset the machines on his route, rather than risk losing money. In the mean time, I'll let you lose more money than you save trying random machines...
- 0004, on 07/04/2008, -1/+7instant downgrade: sledgehammer through the machine window
- dscottp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6A better way to stick it to Coca-Cola would be to not buy their product.
I figured out an even better drink hack anyways. All you need is a glass and a kitchen sink. You turn the tap that says 'C' on it, and this cold drinkable liquid called water comes out... Just catch it in your glass. I just hope there isn't a firmware upgrade that stops this hack anytime soon. - Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11I think the guy who comes to fill up the machines would update the firmware.
- thedez, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8OK, whose's the snitch?
- Pests, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The update didn't, but trying the hack bricked the one I tried on it on last week!
Did the hack, but the bottle got stuck between the door and belt.
Bought another and it didn't even move, then registered that I bought one.
Ended up spending 3:75 for a Pepsi.
:( - Emptythought, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7a better point to make here, it's not like all machines will be updated instantly.
i bet even a year from now you'll still be able to find quite a few machines that it works on. - MacParrot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6How exactly are the machines ripping you off? I realize the price of the ingredients isn't anything close to the price of the soda, but since when did you MUST have a Coke to live? Thirsty? Drink water. This is like those idiots who steal music by saying, "This is our way to fight BACK against the machine!". Just be honest (at least with yourself) and say you do it because you don't want to spend the money, but want something for free.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Fun while it lasted? Fun to steal something that doesn't belong to you? This is not a hack. It's theft.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6awww. i remember when you could put a BBQ lighter with a wire down a coin slot of a space invaders, defender etc and get about 20 credits from 1 spark :)
- uguysmakemesick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6stealing is stealing either way you put it. it's wrong to download music illegally, and it's wrong to steal pop. how can you guys justify this stuff is totally beyond me.
- 3Den, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3A hack is a hack, and it's interesting and all that.. but is everyone really that excited about stealing?
- jkaiser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3when i was at ITT the night students would do this to the machines all the time. It was very annoying when you wanted a coke for lunch and couldn't because some douche had "hacked" it the night before.
- p51d007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'd like to see the vendor put a sharp object in the chute door so when idiots shove their hands in the chute to try and rip off the vendor, it cuts their hands to ribbons
- ichbinladen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Think of the poor goons that make their living on vending machines.... then laugh your ass off as they starve to death this cold and dreary Winter!
- fofusion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This news is quite old but I tried this lately and it works great. So the firmware hasn't been applied to every machine.
- hcetrepus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4whether or not they can afford the loss is irrelevant. Stealing is stealing.
- haastyle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5yah it didn't work me a few days ago, the machine got smart on me and was like no more for you
- Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks, I'll try this, probably won't work, but worth a shot.
- dugem1, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1That's great find

well, since a 20oz coke costs about 10c to produce sells for 2 dollars some times, and a cd that costs 10-20c to produce costs 20 dollars most of the time, i think they can afford to absorb the loss. i'm not saying it's right in any way, but they sure won't miss the $1.99 out of their billion dollar annual profits as much as i'll miss the $22 out of my few thousand dollar a year earnings. - digguh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I found out this the hard way...
I feel sorry for all the people who tried to get a drink afterwards and didn't get want they wanted as the previous one was always on the conveyor belt. - shawnb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I tried this hack a few weeks ago and found that it didnt work. It appeared that there was a bar of some sorts that would let the machine know there was a coke waiting on the conveyer belt. The machine would refund the money but would be effectively bricked. Any additional money put in would instantly be refunded. Anyone else seen this?
- Pests, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1brianez21:
No, the coke machine was bricked, remember? :( - timvb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I really meant more the fun of the hack, not the stealing. I perfectly agree with you when you when you say this though, as everyone else is obsessed with the thrill of stealing something that doesn't belong to you.
- NinjaBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I used to have a master key that worked on almost all of the machines and then they switched to these remote controlled ones. But i know they have master keys for them as well. Just figure out how it works, open the door, and enjoy.
*I think it uses an IR Pulse* - Dolomite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't understand... it's a mechanical coin mechanism, where exactly does the spark come into play?
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3you pay for one drink, hold the feed door closed as the machine is trying to push it off the conveyor belt, the machine thinks something is wrong and refunds your money. then you buy another drink with the refund and get two drinks for the cost of one.
- bowels, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Coke is screwing themselves. Now kids in high school and college are less likely to develop an 'addiction' to Coca-Cola.
- bowels, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@Slipdisc
Hacking and theft aren't mutually exclusive. It can be BOTH a hack and theft. - RickyBennett, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2ya then the vendor will get a big law suite on there hands
- Gneisbaard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Reminds me of the coke machine i saw opened up the other day. Had schematics in it and everything, and some sort of superusers manual. Didn't really have the time to look at it for long.
- pimpsallad, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Yea I tried this a few days ago and my coke got jammed so I couldn't buy any more.
Guess thats karma at work... -
