- spamdies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.truste.org/consumers/web_seal_violators.php is the link without the period at The end. errr i hate punctuation
- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Remember when NewEgg had cheap shipping?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What's the big deal about TRUSTe? The ONLY thing it verifies is that the company in question has paid the $25,000 fee to license their logo for use on their website.
- suicidal-kid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"it must be a mistake on truste's side"
You can look at their list of trusted sites here:http://www.truste.org/about/member_list.php?PHPSESSID=6c1fb4444528a02dd6e7016154292f4f#N - jasonprussell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sorry, http://www.truste.org/consumers/web_seal_violators.php
- Himself, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I used NewEgg until I was screwed over in a large purchase and had to involve a lawyer. I know other people with a similar experience
- demha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, if you search for newegg on the TRUSTe site, you won't find them.
- skealoha86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the url of TRUSTe's validation for newegg is this:
http://www.truste.org/ivalidate.php?url=www.newegg.com&sealid=101
that could definitely be a problem.... - mordea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I couldn't care less about TRUSTe verification. If I want to find out of a seller is reputable, I'll check out customer reviews on resellersratings.
- Himself, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you've confused Truste with NewEgg's DOA return policy
- ipodman715, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Truste's still at the bottom of the Newegg page.
- DarkSorrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know NEwegg is best, but it should be TrustE fault, it could be their database problem. so dont pin this on NewEgg
- shaunhey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Honestly, to me, seeing a TRUSTe logo on a site doesn't make me feel any safer... I agree with mordea, I check customer reviews...
- wildman082, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1god dammit! i just bought my horse insurance from horseinsurance.com
- peerk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1TrustE = scam
- StephnDolenc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1newegg = awesome
screw trustE - jasonprussell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is NOT a database error. NewEgg.com is specifically listed as being in violation at this URL http://www.truste.org/consumers/web_seal_violators.php. Nice, I've also ordered from them in the past, but you'd think that they'd just remove the logo and get on with business.
- panique, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1as if TrustE certification even means anything
- CRASSPUNXTEXHTV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it must be a mistake on truste's side
- yourowndisaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So what, big deal if you have problems with new egg don't shop there again. its their loss not ours..
- demha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Maybe newegg forgot to pay their bill?"
I was thinking maybe that happened or something similar happened. - zestor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who cares? Is this really news? I think I like NewEgg a hundred times better than PaymE anyways.
- covaro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I doubt that they are trying to pull anything over on anyone. TRUSTe is probably just having a database error or something to that effect. I can't imagine one of the largest internet vendors of computer parts/supplies with one of the overall highest customer satisfaction ratings of any internet vendor trying to "pull the wool over our eyes".
- covaro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just sent an email to the Newegg's webmaster with this information. Be very interested to see what they say with regards to this. I spent quite a pretty penny with them in 2005, and will probably spend even more this year, and it would make me feel better if I got some sort of information with regards to this mix up.
- squenix1221, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"I couldn't care less about TRUSTe verification. If I want to find out of a seller is reputable, I'll check out customer reviews on resellersratings."
"even if newegg isnt on Truste's list they are still one of the best online computer part stores, and some of the best service ive ever had with an online company"
i completely agree, i dont care about the truste label, ive shopped at newegg for years and they have never screwed me over...shipping is fast, prices are low, and the customer service is good...that is pretty much all i look for in a store - flake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe newegg forgot to pay their bill?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I belive its because they havent paid for 2006 yet. and after there 2005 contract was up newegg what removed until they renew.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ill give it 24 hrs and it will be taken care of
- lfrandom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Newegg is one of the best retail sites on the net. I have purchased several items for them and never had any problems.
- xerohour, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1***** TRUSTe. NewEgg should save that $25k and allow for even more discounts on products.
- figmund, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seeing a TRUSTe logo on a site means nothing to me. Newegg should just pull the logo and move on with life. I've never heard someone say "well, I was going to submit my order, but then I noticed they didn't have a TRUSTe logo".
- Prez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No but I just ordered something tonight and at the end of the check out they automatically sign you up for a 1yr magazine subscription for 9.95 unless you unceck the box!
WTF is that? - ziffel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who the F is TrustE? Newegg I know ...
I've been buying from Newegg since about 2001, and I've never once had anything but perfect service, before and after the sale. When this changes, I'll reconsider. But until then ... again i ask, who the F is TrustE? - tdkyo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0stupid misleading title of this digg post.
No digg - schlagel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The only part of this that bugs me is that newegg is saying that they are Trust-e Certified, when they really are not. I don't personally look, or care about trust-e, but the fact that they have incorrect information, that could change someones decision to purchase their, bugs me. I'll give then 24 hours to fix the problem.
- jobeats, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ehh, newegg cool with me.
- cfabbriumd, on 11/30/2007, -0/+0Came up as verified.. must have fixed it
- macgabriel87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1omg newegg go to hell you are using it illegally. why? just f'ing pay the $25k or dont put the logo on it. its like you want us to all find out you are scammers. well, thats what i think. now spread the truth about bad newegg.
- JAppi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1We should just ddos Newegg for trying to screw us over and TrustE for screwing up with their database.
- WayGroovy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was bored and checked google's cache on the list of untrusted seal violaters. Newegg was on the bad list as of 28DEC05... Any older cache's of this page?
http://64.233.187.104/search?q=cache:n8uueF2BVzUJ:www.truste.org/consumers/web_seal_violators.php+&hl=en&client=firefox-a
wayback does not have them on the bad list in feb05
http://web.archive.org/web/20050208124851/http://www.truste.org/consumers/web_seal_violators.php
and wayback from april05 has them on the good list
http://web.archive.org/web/20050401020623/http://www.truste.org/about/member_list.php - Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just forgot to renew I'm sure. This is newegg people! I think we all know they wouldn't screw us.
BTW, UPS sucks ass!! 8 days and still haven't got my parts yet! - halmcelroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Newegg is not on the member website page either:
http://www.truste.org/about/member_list.php#N - tangledweb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Friendster are in a similar boat.
http://www.friendster.com/info/privacy.php
They are not on truste's known violator list, but they do seem to be not registered or expired. - bytor7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've made hundreds of purchases for work from Newegg during the past few years. Of those, there have been only a few minor problems. Their customer service reps have taken care of each one quickly. You might be able to find cheaper prices, but no one can beat their customer service. That's why I keep going back.
- koenkai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just to correct a common misconception: Newegg.com != Egghead.com
They're not related in the slightest:
http://www.crn.com/sections/special/distribution/distribution.jhtml?ArticleID=164900469
Regardless, now that they know about it (how could they not with a digg?), they should either pay up or take the logo off. Like others, tho, I don't care about a TrustE logo...I care about how Newegg has treated me in the past--exceptionally well. - StammesOpfer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0C'mon Newegg didn't just forget somebody may have dropped the ball and forgot to pull the logo or maybe TRUSTe forgot to bill them but personally I don't care I have spent over $30k USD with them and the only reason I have Problems with them is because my credit-card's fraud prevention stops the transaction but a few calls always fixes the problem and it is never Newegg's fault (although sometimes when I am forced to listen to the horrible hold music I want to kill them I mean Backstreet Boys come on)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I regularly use newegg.com .. it's a great store. Based on what I'm reading at http://www.truste.org/consumers/web_seal_violators.php, it appears that they really are not supposed to have that seal there.
I personally give NewEgg the benefit of the doubt as I have had so many flawless transactions with them.
We can all speculate as to what happened here... Newegg could have chosen not to use TRUSTe any longer and due to the extended holiday weekend simply neglected to remove all of the TRUSTe logos from their site, it could be a fluke on TRUSTe's side (in which case, do you really trust TRUSTe?). Regardless, reading through the comments most people could care less if that logo is on the site or not.
That tells me if this all *is* a big mistake, that NewEgg is probably better off blowing off TRUSTe and removing their logos. It's probably a waste of money for them in the first place. - ompalaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Newegg is good nomatter what TRUSTe says. :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who gives a ***** about TRUSTe? Other than their fancy-looking label, I don't have a clue what they even do.
- Novous, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This is so stupid. There is either an error, or NewEgg was removed and never notified. Why would NewEgg _link_ to a page saying that NewEgg is lying? Let's try and use our brains here. To quote my math professor: "When you walk in, don't leave your common sense at the door."
