- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -30/+143Why is ***** NASA using ***** windows on its ***** laptops aboard its ***** spaceships?
- leftfield, on 08/27/2008, -5/+107to play ***** solitaire?
- quaffapint, on 08/27/2008, -0/+101How cool does the virus author think he/she is right now...
- AmazingSteve, on 08/27/2008, -28/+112Because it's Space Station. They're not sitting around Starbucks on Facebook trying to look fashionable. You see NASA needs actual computers, NOT fashion accessories.
- dafragsta, on 08/27/2008, -2/+72Wait! I saw a movie about this. And then the alien ships just start crashing while Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum smoke cigars.
- LimeParrot, on 08/27/2008, -1/+64Let's hope they don't use Norton (I don't think orbital telemetry allows for copious LAG).
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -4/+41Actually I was visualizing OpenBSD laptops running on some kind of advanced toughbook. I guess that would be too much to ask.
- seltaeb4, on 08/27/2008, -2/+36nope... ***** Minesweeper.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -2/+34Probably got it from the Russians.
- ulfy01, on 08/27/2008, -2/+32That's what you get for downloading porn from dodgy sites on the ISS.
- SevenTwo, on 08/27/2008, -7/+35I've had it with these ***** viruses on these ***** space stations!
- LimeParrot, on 08/27/2008, -1/+25OMG, so WE were the aliens all along?!?
dum dum DUMMM - dogson, on 08/27/2008, -0/+20Nuke the laptop from orbit, its the only way to be sure.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -4/+23Boom shakalaki!
- GreenAlien, on 08/27/2008, -4/+22The NASA spokesman: "The infected machines were not considered mission critical"
No *****. They're running Windows. - mcphatty, on 08/27/2008, -0/+18hack the galaxy!
- Ryanx0r, on 08/27/2008, -2/+20Zero cool!
- Devrdander, on 08/27/2008, -0/+17I've seen movies about this, the virus will mutate in zero gravity, and when it returns to earth it'll destroy us all!
- seltaeb4, on 08/27/2008, -1/+17"Open the Pod Bay door, Bill."
- loneBoat, on 08/27/2008, -8/+23You know what? I use Windows every day on several computers. I keep it clean, and don't install dumb crap like useless IE toolbars and IM smiley packs, and you know what? I have NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. Windows gets its reputation for being 'unstable' and 'insecure' because of people who install tons of crap every day without hesitation any forethought about what it might do to their system. If you take care of your Windows install, it will be stable.
Full disclosure: I'm a Windows fanboy. I'm also a 'Nix fanboy. They're not mutually exclusive. - GiggleStick, on 08/27/2008, -0/+13It's just skynet in larval form, don't worry about it.
- Tanktunker, on 08/27/2008, -5/+18Or use linux, and buy another few rockets with the money you saved on a MacBook.
- Yoblad, on 08/27/2008, -6/+18Did the laptops sing Daisy?
- zyklon, on 08/27/2008, -1/+13Mess with the best, die like the rest.
- LucasVB, on 08/27/2008, -2/+13M-M-M-MONSTER KILL
- Cndor, on 08/27/2008, -0/+11What a twist!
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -3/+1399% of viruses require user interaction.
Replace the OS all you want. Dumbasses will still be dumbasses. - FonzsXe, on 08/27/2008, -4/+13they need there computer to work....not look cute and improve their self esteem by a false sense of increased social status...
also, most astronauts aren't douche bags - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+9Or maybe... just maybe... it's actually a good ***** story unlike most of the regurgitated crap we usually get.
- CobaltBlue, on 08/27/2008, -3/+12True. Private companies never get viruses.
- zyklon, on 08/27/2008, -1/+10How about I just block you instead?
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -2/+10I've had enough with these *****' *****'s in this *****' thread!
- Smills, on 08/27/2008, -0/+8Somehow I don't think anyone was considering Macs. Maybe Linux computers? That is an actual OS, and I can't imagine a requirement of the OS would be to play the latest DirX games.
- yeskia, on 08/27/2008, -11/+19Because it ***** wants to?
- LimeParrot, on 08/27/2008, -5/+12You pay more for a mac to get the social / fashion statement. I don't think the upper atmosphere gives a ***** about the shiny white finish.
- pimpgimp, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7Houston, we have a virus.
- Jhiaxuz, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7Wait till it breeds with the space radiation!
- augustwest30, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7My neighbor works at Langley for NASA. He told me for the heavy calculations that are mission critical, NASA uses clusters of Windows, Mac, and Linux boxes. Most of the machines in the cluster use Red Hat Linux.
- LimeParrot, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6Possibly almost no-one buried it (or something like that). Pretty sure the formula is a bit more complicated than how many diggs an article has.
- grey580, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6Looks like someones WoW account is getting hacked.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -1/+7"I'm afraid I can't do that Gates."
- chaoswings, on 08/27/2008, -0/+6Probably shaking in his boots...I mean it IS NASA if they want revenge they probably have the time and money to find the guy.
- n0odles, on 08/27/2008, -1/+6There are ***** worms on a spaceship!
- 3leggedHorse, on 08/27/2008, -1/+6Fothermucker.
- BelatedHero, on 08/27/2008, -5/+10I wish Digg had a Burn of the Week feature like FailBlog.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -1/+5Agreed. Using a *nix system would have averted this..
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4Hmm..
Discovered 8/27/2007.
Steals online gaming information from the compromised computer.
You would think that. Yah, I believe that NASA is not kidding, it is not a mission critical system - zyklon, on 08/27/2008, -1/+5Someone call the writer for the Twilight Zone!
- SpamBuntu, on 08/27/2008, -2/+6windows from the russians?
