- Gabberwok, on 12/12/2007, -1/+23You're on Digg. All signs point to "no".
- spammishking, on 12/12/2007, -6/+23yea, stop using AIM
- PhantomBantam, on 12/12/2007, -1/+16Damn. Ignore this crap. I just IM'd it the 5th time, and finally got a response that it's a promotion.
- fakename311, on 12/12/2007, -0/+11Yeah I haven't IM'D it, but (12 Four) Supperbad's DVD release date was December 4th.
- xero69, on 12/12/2007, -0/+10Death to lame spam bots! Figures that AOL would do this kind of thing right after they allow Gchat users to integrate AIM. Sigh.
- sfrederiksen, on 12/12/2007, -0/+10Do you know why you use it? Probably the same reason everyone else uses it.
- sfrederiksen, on 12/12/2007, -0/+5I did exactly the same, in the same order.
- pmhesse, on 12/12/2007, -0/+4 have IMd it like 10 times and have had no responses yet.
- SeaSideClown, on 12/12/2007, -0/+4I got that ***** too. Thx a lot...stupid aol. I dont even know why people still use aim.
- pjsparty, on 12/12/2007, -0/+4ya its on mine too. i was like wtf whos that! then i search the name on facebook thinking it was a friend or something. but got no results. then googled it and saw this post.
- gn0stik, on 12/12/2007, -0/+4McLovin - Sounds like a sexy hamburger.
- morningmatters, on 12/12/2007, -0/+4Down with lame aim-bots.
- hansdg1, on 12/12/2007, -0/+4wow me too
- billbot, on 12/12/2007, -1/+4I just enabled AIM on my Gmail chat. Then I see this. WTF AOL? Why do people even use AIM. Isn't there something better?
- inactive, on 12/12/2007, -0/+2yeah i got it too....
i deleted that ***** along with moviefone and all the others - PHLAK, on 12/12/2007, -1/+3Pidgin and XMPP/Jabber is the way to go. Unfortunately AIM was the first widely adopted main stream IM platform, so it's probably not going anywhere... I hate AOL.
- MasteRR, on 12/12/2007, -0/+2Isn't it obvious? It's a promotion.
Just another reason to move away from these closed propriotary IM systems and start using something more open like jabber. - dontEATnachos, on 12/12/2007, -1/+3I have the same thing showing up in my buddy list. Thanks for digging this, my google searches were fruitless and I was starting to I feel like I had taken some crazy pills.
- barneytoe, on 12/12/2007, -2/+4does anyone know how to block AIM bots?
- davewashere, on 12/12/2007, -0/+2I remember they did this a long time ago with the movie Operation Swordfish. It was just a lame chat bot that promoted the film. To this day I still use that bot's username whenever I sign up for some promotion and they ask for my AIM s/n.
- capiCrimm, on 12/12/2007, -0/+2can you stop bullets with your mind and fly yet? I can, you should try it.
- Neoanarchist, on 12/12/2007, -2/+4But you did.......... *waves hand around spookily*
- inactive, on 12/12/2007, -2/+4Yes it's called viral marketing and your doing your bit to spread it even more. Well done.
Now let's all talk about it some more........... - spillwater, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1the icon is kinda a give away. just had to make sure tho
- betterth, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1I strongly dislike MSN and Yahoo -- much more than AIM. I have a nice simple AIM client, and I don't have to deal with all the horrifically annoying things people can do in MSN/Yahoo. I prefer GTalk the most though.
- imacashew, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1congrats...welcome to digg...were people learn not to be so stupid....
/sarcasm - latova, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1NICE!!!!!!
- imacashew, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1no....but you googled a lame movie bot while sober...which is worse?
- MasteRR, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1Pidgin + Jabber/XMPP
- pistonhonda, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1Zing!
- MasteRR, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1Now that gtalk supports XMPP there has been a big push for jabber, but still nowhere near what it should be.
- Goldennova, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1I get random bots that appear all the time. Santa was automatically put onto my buddylist and so were other advertising bots. This isn't some elaborate scam, if you payed attention they often release bots such as these. People are looking into this way too much.
- DangerStepp, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1Say it with me: "Viral Marketing." Yes, yes. Very good.
- deadnoob, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1AOL does this all the time. They add random buddies to your list ie: shoppingbuddy, moviefone, hotspot
i actually use the "hotspot" buddy occasionally. its just gives you a yellow pages link, but its easy to just click the buddy and type in something i need.
edit: Digg isnt a message board, dont post topics to be talked about. Post news. - G3ekGir1, on 12/12/2007, -0/+0It showed up in my google chat contact list as an AIM user (now that google has enabled AIM chat) and I just blocked it. I'm just going to disable AIM from my google chat. AOL sucks.
- Goldennova, on 12/12/2007, -1/+1I noticed it lat night also. My AIM has a section for AIM bots so it was automatically put in the bots section of my buddy list.
- cambob76, on 12/12/2007, -1/+1Burried: SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!
- Sefus, on 12/12/2007, -1/+1You guys need a new IM client. Never seen it.
- roflcopterdown, on 12/12/2007, -1/+1The AOL bots aren't such a big deal. If you're bored, you can administer Voight-Kampf tests to them.
- slashbot, on 12/12/2007, -2/+2this is a promo for superbad
idiots - Tedstavridis, on 12/12/2007, -0/+0thank you for posting this, i was very confused
- imacashew, on 12/12/2007, -2/+2boooooooooo!!!! boo to both of you....gaaaaaay
- inactive, on 12/12/2007, -1/+1I think it was a company trying to get people to download a virus.
ome.topclassinc.info/tag/mclovin12four.html
That is the top result on google when you search mclovin12four. Do Not click on no. you will not be able to close the firefox tab without clicking OK, and if you do that it installs viruses to your computer. Either they made the bot or they are just really resourceful. - newladygrrl, on 01/03/2008, -0/+0I thought it was kinda cool.....that's just me.
- ducksoup18, on 12/12/2007, -0/+0Superbad was released December 4th. McLovin12four ---> Superbad release date.
- ReyX, on 12/12/2007, -0/+0" *sigh* McLovin, McLovin, McLovin, McLovin..."
- konistehrad, on 12/12/2007, -1/+1Interestingly, the first hit on a Google search takes you to a site which immediately begins to download an executable, while throwing a fake error message about a decoder. Could this be an even more intense scam than we thought?
- imacashew, on 12/12/2007, -1/+1shut your stupid face
- mouthwater, on 12/12/2007, -2/+1decided to google it too. nice to see i didn't get trashed and add some lame movie bot while drunk.
- Dumbledorito, on 12/13/2007, -2/+11. It's "yeah."
2. Tell Mac users to get off of iChat, a flavor of AIM. Some of them can't be convinced that their precious Apple product has crapware on it. -
