- powatom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm divided about this. One the one hand - the current technology being used isn't even that great anyway. It's just about good enough to successfully identify a school of children. However, I absolutely do not like the direction this could easily go. Why, exactly, do they need the kids fingerprints? It's not like these prints even go on a national database or anything. What is so bad about just writing the kid's name and the book's ref number? In my opinion, there's absolutely no grounds for this system apart from simply 'looking flashy'. I don't like the idea of this graduating into something 'more intrusive' though, so I sign :)

There is also the issue that the money being used to purchase these systems is taken from Government Grants setup to provide IT facilities for the students. I already emailed my MP (Ben Wallace) and I have setup a petition on http://www.pm.gov.uk which is currently awaiting approval from the Number 10 web team. I will post a link to the petition once it has been approved.
