IM Worm Attack Cloaked in Virtual Card Hoax

blog.spywareguide.com — A new IM worm has been discovered that opens up a picture of a heart when you become infected and attempts to steal your banking data. The heart picture is taken from a site dealing with internet hoaxes..the infection site mentions a "virtual card for you"...which is the name of a famous hoax stretching back to the year 2000. Clever stuff.

    most security companies blank out parts of urls. theres numerous reasons, one of which is the most obvious - stop more n00bs from going to have a look and cause more infections. you'd only need to recognise the text from the infection message after all, not the download location to know it was a bad IM. especially as worm creators are more likely to change the download link as the file is removed from various webhosts, as opposed the message which can remain constant.
