- Sh0rtstak, on 10/01/2008, -23/+1046If your user name is Epic, the system should let you in automatically
- ar0ne, on 10/01/2008, -18/+944This .gif is 10 years late.
- rockon4life45, on 10/01/2008, -9/+869lol windows 98 is so 1997
- ZachGlazer, on 10/01/2008, -17/+859Quick somebody get a hold of McCain's computer
- Rhysbo, on 10/01/2008, -131/+837***** you, two of my friends died hacking windows 98.
- mattb89, on 10/01/2008, -36/+376Another way to hack Windows 98: Buy a go-cart.
- arjanijssel, on 10/01/2008, -2/+319If you really want to get in to Windows 98 with network resource access do this:
1. Click 'Cancel' at login.
2. Browse to C:Windows
3. Delete *.pwl
4. Reboot
5. Login with any password you want.
This is basically a password reset if you forgot your password...
I love to hate 98! - gllopc, on 10/01/2008, -18/+310If I recall properly, you could have just hit "Cancel" and gotten straight to the desktop. Doing it this way, or using the method shown in the GIF, still won't allow you access to the domain.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -19/+288Genius.
- kidwithsword, on 10/01/2008, -12/+263Because everyone is using Windows 98?
- sarahbrand, on 10/01/2008, -3/+215But how? It's the size of my living room.
- FxxkTheSYSTEM, on 10/01/2008, -5/+172Sweet, i can now hack into my grandmother's ancient computer!
- Vich, on 10/01/2008, -4/+168In highschool we had windows 2000/xp on every computer; we used a knoppix live cd to dump the SAM file to a flash drive which I then took home and cracked. A dictionary attack found the local admin password in seconds; this was used on every computer and enabled us to setup netmeeting remote access (we could take control of anyone's computer, or simply spy on them) and issue remote shutdown commands. Chaos ensued.
- Gloony, on 10/01/2008, -38/+202***** you, two of my friends died being so dumb.
- mhuggins, on 10/01/2008, -39/+194This meme is so dumb.

- subtle, on 10/01/2008, -2/+116I don't believe you, h@x0r.
- Meursault, on 10/01/2008, -1/+102Coolest part of this trick is the time machine he invented to take advantage of it.
- Dumbledorito, on 10/01/2008, -22/+123Obviously, you've never used it.
And it works just fine. It doesn't suck your genitals or make your computer match your IKEA decor; it's an OS, not a religion, not a lifestyle, and not something that causes transcendence.
And it most certainly isn't anything as portrayed in those "Mac Vs. PC" drivelings from Apple. - redslash, on 10/01/2008, -14/+109That worked in 95, not 98.

- roodammy44, on 10/01/2008, -24/+66Haha, my friend got banned from my school network and discovered this little trick back in '99.
We had access to *everything*. Hacking is awesome. - Sh0rtstak, on 10/01/2008, -68/+109its better than vista
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -8/+49I see what you did there.
- sexybobo, on 10/01/2008, -0/+41windows 95 you could just hit cancel.
- gllopc, on 10/01/2008, -1/+42The Internets say otherwise. From some sites I found which make reference to bypassing the login by simply pressing the "Cancel" button in Windows 98:
http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-95/win98- ...
"I suspect this only works if you are connected to a Windows domain. You can still hit cancel and log into the local machine."
http://webdesign.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-fu ...
"If i set a password i canstill press cancel at the login popup and get into the computer, justhave no access to the network."
http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/629/
"Usually users can simply press 'Cancel' at the Windows logon box to bypass the login process and gain access to the local computer." - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -10/+49I like anal.
- jimmytwotoes, on 10/01/2008, -7/+45that's what she said!
