LordChewy: so my dad found my porn folder
LordChewy: and he was getting all pissed
LordChewy: so its all like "does this surprise you? i'm not stupid you know"
LordChewy: "i know dad"
LordChewy: "what do you have to say for yourself?"
LordChewy: at this point i stare at him straight in the eyes and say "C:Documents and SettingsRickyMy Documentsfaxessent faxes"
LordChewy: and he just shut up
kingKahn: what is it?
LordChewy: its his porn folder
(bash.org) - the_d, on 10/12/2007, -10/+88Or you can just wait 7 or 8 years until you're an adult, and you won't be forced to "Hide that pr0n."
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -3/+77I'm sorry... did you just tell all the 13 year old males out there to wait seven our eight years for their porn?
Sure... when pigs fly. - jmz635, on 10/12/2007, -1/+58Yup, this isn't a proper alternative to True Crypt. This is more a way of storing love letters to your girlfriend, and emailing them, keeping prying eyes out. 'Oh, isn't that a nice picture of you two!'
True Crypt is a much better solution when corporate sensitivity is a must, or even honestly, any business or individual NEEDS to keep someone out of their data. I wouldn't use this method to store my bank account details, but it is still cool to know about :)
*Opens random jpgs in WinRar to see if they open * - gypsyjoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+56Just put it on a CD/DVD, label it Linux kernel 2.304 build 8021 and noone will ever look at it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+52Awesome! Now we can use imageshack for filesharing. :)
It doesn't modify the files at all. So feel free to download my image and open it in winrar.

- speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+43Does this mean that i can upload RAR files to imageshack? ;)
- Cerberus047, on 10/12/2007, -4/+47would be great untill... your mom notices that youve got a 40 gig picture.... if you say she dosent know what that is... then just hide them in your windows folder somewhere

- KevinAce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32Haha, 60+ negatives all for saying digged instead of dugg. I love you guys! (I nailed him too...)
- combatchuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+295 gigs? Are you on dialup?
- travishealy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25you just know some sucker out there will have 30gb of porn hidden, on his 50gb hard drive. Yeah, that isn't suspicious to the wife.

[with embed hehe] - thunderer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Just say it's your one-trillion bit encryption key for sending stuff to your secret CIA contact in the Andes.
- speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Better yet, instead of hiding it in a jpeg, hide it in a .bat file.
When someone launches the bat file... have it self-destruct itself.
Now that's James Bond material. - Tanglefuzz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20cd ..
cd ..
cd hidden
?
total noob.. - sarge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18you could always hide your pr0n in a shoe and put it on your head...

... you're welcome - Spizzat2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Yes.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14WHY HIDE IT IN A JPG.
HIDE IT IN A PROGRAM!
(just made the most bloated hello world app in human history) - NoSuchAgency, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15At work we wondered why the computer attached to a very useful fluorescence imager had almost no HD space left... I had to use WinDirStat to "treemap" the HD contents... lo and behold, an obscure sub-sub-sub-sub-(... x10 ...) folder showed up as a huge mono coloured block on the screen. Yep, whole porno movies and warez that some knob had DL'ed late one night.
*That* is how you find teh pr0n. We still don't know who did it, though.
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treemapping) - Canute, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Cool idea, just one thing: That will delete your pr0n... :(
- alecperkins, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15While I agree that TrueCrypt is great for real security, and it's hard to beat the plausible deniability factor of a hidden volume, dugg for it's coolness and way of hiding things in plain sight. It's not encryption in any strong sense of the word, but it is a great way to hide stuff. Perhaps a combination of this and TrueCrypt volumes?
1. Hide PGP encoded files in random photos (summer vacation album mayhaps?) using this method.
2. Put photos in hidden TrueCrypt volumes.
3. Wrap the TrueCrypt volume in a RAR archives.
4. Hide archives in other photos.
5. Rinse and repeat.
6. Profit perhaps?
Now that's extreme redundancy. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Where there's a Hide Folders Function, there's a Unhide Folders Function...
The way for-mentioned removes suspicion. - h3xley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12lol, as if the wife will even know to check the disk properties
- xyqxyq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13LMAO
A 1.46 gigabyte JPEG with dimensions 640x800...that's not suspicious...was I supposed to use one uh, 'item' each time? - NoSuchAgency, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12No, don't use an INTERESTING file name. Call it "Quake 1 map bot paths" or something that nobody would give a crap about - least of all your spouse, kids, or SO.
- jzahra, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12It's worth putting again: http://www.truecrypt.org - it's the perfect solution for all your hiding needs. :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I'd like to welcome the FBI and various other depts under Homeland Security to this thread.
- kingace, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Yeah, that's not suspicious.
- thunderer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12For OS X use an encrypted disk image named obscurely and hidden away in some folder that holds large files, such as the iDVD themes folder.
- madeingermany, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9@adamsucks: Mooo you too.
This technique was pretty wildely used, when people were still uploading warez on geocities and the like.... most used special programs to get the real content out again. Very cool that Winrar just ignores the image junk "header". - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"Or you can just wait 7 or 8 years until you're an adult, and you won't be forced to "Hide that pr0n."
As a fellow male, that is the most irrational statement I've heard in the past month. - distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Hm, I've never felt the need to hide anything, but I always thought a good way would be to change the extension to .txt and rename it to something like Care and Feeding of Mongolian Goldfish.
If you really wanted to take it to another level you could cut a chunk out of the .txt file from the beginning or something and put it in a seperate file until you needed to reconstruct it.
Would this not work? - Garda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8True. I don't know why you might use this rather than simply having an encrypted partition with dm-crypt or truecrypt (which works on linux since version 4)
+ just use gnupg for sending encrypted emails
why you would want to have everything in what is effectively plain text, if it's supposed to be private - sarge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7nah, its one of them new interweb fads.... all the emo kids are doing it these days
- Filter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I just tried it and it works with 7-zip too.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Right click > sharing and security > security tab >

And if you're extra paranoid, use MS's EFS encryption. Easy. None of this rar, command line non-sense.
Voila. Now they can't see *****. - hlrober, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Thanx for the suggestion ... http://www.truecrypt.org/
- Muyoso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Well maybe if you had a wife or girlfriend you would. But hey, Mrs. Righty ain't complaining, so no need to hide it yet.
- Gir53457, on 10/12/2007, -1/+74chaners know this secret well.
