/shakes head, leaves thread - heavensblade23, on 10/12/2007, -2/+56***** with ATMs is a good way to end up in PMITA federal prison.
- MattyLite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46This message brought to you by the Department of Redundancy Department
- BobbyOnions, on 10/12/2007, -5/+51I did deliberately put "PIN number" as a joke, FFS.
- afex, on 10/12/2007, -7/+47floridiot, better duck or next time the joke will hit you right in the head instead of going over it.
(PIN number is also redundant, Personal Identification Number..number. which is bobby's joke.) - jcapogna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32Your blog is down.

Jesus wept. The mentality of the people on this board. - KungFutse, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26Anyone have a spare NIC card? :p
- redrighthand, on 10/12/2007, -9/+31Have fun in Jail
- Homunculiheaded, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21The ATMs they're talking about are not bank ATMS, they're the crappy kind you find in clubs or convenience stores. So there's no camera. And, since you can't see the video, the hack has nothing to do with money, it simply changes the text that prints onto the receipt. Mildly humorous for a pretty large risk. i can just imagine talking to the cops "No officer I swear I was just going to edit the receipt to read 'Homunculiheaded RULEZ!!!', honest".
- BobbyOnions, on 10/12/2007, -44/+62Yeah, you know, where you type in your PIN number.
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22Could have done with out the music though. Muted, but Dugg.
- thegreatsam, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Do they allow conjugal visits?
- orenthal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17"can anyone back up heffer2k02?"
no. thats the dumbest thing i have ever read. saying you have the *right* to hack into the menu and change the message just because they didnt change the default password is the equivalent of saying you have the *right* to walk into somone's home just because they didnt lock the front door. - noreturn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17@mv10
Are you stupid, or are you stupid? This thing doesn't teach you how to phish or take money out of someone's account. It shows you how to change a message. Get off your high horse and watch the focking video. - striker1211, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14ohh sweet, now kids can be l33t hax0rs from youtube videos. I miss text files...
- spadin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Haha, he left the terminal#, sequence # and auth # on the hacked receipt... Might as well have put his driver's license next to it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -31/+41He's saying its redundant. Automated Teller Machine... machine.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+25Hah, can't believe I missed that.
- protocoI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Bah, I'm tired of all these TLA Acronyms...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9ATM Machine is only one of the many reduntant acronyms.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAS_syndrome - Homunculiheaded, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8You do not have every right to break into anything. If you leave the door to your house unlocked, that doesn't mean that it is okay for me to go in and just take everything. Furthermore you can be arrested for doing things that look legitimately suspicious. Since most people's knowledge of hacking an ATM comes from Terminator 2 the first thing they'd assume was that you were trying to steal money from the machine. It could very easily come across as attempted robbery, and it would be difficult to prove that you were trying to break into the machine, but not trying to illegaly access the money inside.
- Defkkon, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13I liked the music. For anyone else that did, the song is "Trip Like I Do" by Filter & The Crystal Method. Its from the Spawn soundtrack.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7What's with the Star Wars intro?
- tont0r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yeah, because i want to go to jail for ***** with an ATM machine.
- heffer2k02, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15Actually theres nothing illegal about this. If the ATM installers are dumb enough to not change the defaults, you have every right to enter that menu screen. By changing the password from the defaults you cross that fuzzy line of "breaking into someone else account" - although in this case its not even an account. Just a customization screen. Never in a million years would you go to jail for this.
Interestingly, you could change it to say "Call bank immediatly on xxxxxxxx".
A bit of social engineering later..... - thegreatsam, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Yeah, that was annoying.
- jgreene777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4how about a little older?
http://digg.com/politics/Wyoming_Welfare_Demonstration
will that make this one seem more relevant? 2 weeks is not that long ago... - shaund, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It shows you how to Change the message, but i'm sure you can change other things through that same menu (i.e. The amount it spits out for $20). You now know how to get into the programming menu. Get in there and snoop around and i'm sure you cdan find something else interesting. I doubt you can take money out of someones account by getting into the programming menu. The menu does not have access to account numbers.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Yeah. Why the hell even overlay the text instead of having it on a flat background color.
Is the ***** who made the video just trying to be annoying?
1st, ***** music, 2nd unreadable text! - cawpin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The only one that is an acronym is PIN. Acronyms are pronouncable as words. ATM is just an abbreviation.
- PhilM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If I was the guy making that video I sure as hell would have blacked out the terminal ID and other numbers there. Couldn't the bank trace it after watching that video?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That video is not there any more. Does anyone have a link to a copy of it?
- xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The beauty of randomly linking to your own blog from Digg. There are more than a couple reasons why people should stop.
- rejectpenguin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@heffer2k02
Its not always smart to make up stuff when people can actually call you down on it.
http://www.rent-a-hacker.com/hacklaw.htm - ImOscar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@cawpin-
No you're wrong, ATM is an acronym as is VHDL, UFITA, and so many unpronounceable words.
Inc., Co., etc. Those are abbreviations - rajivshankar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1CGI-limits reached, please try again later!
- bi0metric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hahaha very cool!
- diggdong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The video is down... FEED ME!
