- lrkr, on 03/29/2008, -13/+364Aaaaand we have reached a whole new level of online douchebaggery....
- dreamlayers, on 03/29/2008, -42/+359"Circumstantial evidence suggests the attack was the work of members of Anonymous, an informal collective of griefers best known for their recent war on the Church of Scientology." WTF? To me this is circumstantial evidence that Scientology is behind the attack, and trying to frame Anonymous. I see no reason to think that Anonymous might attack epileptics or for that matter any other group unassociated with Scientology.
- aqzman, on 03/29/2008, -6/+314I really wish people would learn the proper usage of the word "hacker".
- Torx, on 03/29/2008, -7/+285Hackers?? Um, wrong association here.. How about "troll-cocksmugglers" maybe?
- ccamera, on 03/29/2008, -17/+221one word....CRUEL!
- krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -6/+151since when does someone have to be a HACKER to post a thread on a forum? ZOMG! i just posted! now im a hacker!
any idiot can post on a forum and claim they're from anonymous. - inactive, on 03/29/2008, -11/+144ebaums did it...
- mciampa1214, on 03/29/2008, -5/+124...and we thought getting Rick Rolled was bad
- VinceA, on 03/29/2008, -3/+97Exceedingly cruel. My wife is an epileptic and I've seen her seizures. They're no laughing matter.
- Fantt, on 03/29/2008, -26/+99If there was circumstantial evidence pointing to Anonymous, then my guess is that this is the work of The Church of Scientology.
Remember the Fair Game policy. They feel that it gives them the right to do ANYTHING (including murder, extort, etc) to "protect" their church. The Church is an evil cult. - Dr0x, on 03/29/2008, -9/+77First off to anyone who things Anonymous didn't do this on the basis of "why would they attack something that isn't CoS," then not only are you a newfag but you need to do some research on what Anonymous really is. Before all of the stupid CoS ***** the reason behind Anonymous attacks was to create lulz, not fight some dumb organization in the name of justice. Sure it may seem like Anonymous has done some noble things in the past like attack Hal Turner, Chris Forcand, as well as get a few kids arrested on alleged attempts to shoot up their school. None the less the reason for all of these was nothing more than to entertain Anonymous, they don't do things because its the right thing to do its just that sometimes the right thing to do is also the most entertaining thing to do.
An attack on a forum of people with epilepsy is definitely something that Anon would do and most likely did do, whether you like it or not. That's just way way anonymous is, you cannot control it, you cannot protect it, and should ever try to give a moral justification for its actions because there never is any. There are sick screwed up people in the world, sadly Anonymous consists of many of them. - fungusmonkey, on 03/29/2008, -11/+72Buried for several reasons: 1) Posting a misleading link IS NOT the same as being a hacker - otherwise anyone who ever rickrolled someone is a hacker - and the word is only used as a scare tactic in sensationalist reporting. 2) Any news organization that would intentionally cast the shadow of blame on an organization due to "circumstantial evidence" deserves to have their press passes taken away. 3) It's tragic that this happened to these poor people, but more tragic that Wired is trying to use them to garner sympathy for some kind of case against Anonymous
Journalism at it's worst, right here. - inactive, on 03/29/2008, -4/+63Why do they have to be "hackers?" How about giving them the right title, jackasses.
- aimhelix, on 03/29/2008, -30/+89Anonymous? So the Church of Scientology is now hiring hackers to hurt epilepsy victims and then blaming it Anonymous? Anonymous doesn't get their giddies from hacking Epilepsy websites; that article was way biased and smelled too much like it was crafted by CoS nuts; just read this person's comment: "Anonymous arent "hackers", they arent even script-kiddies. They are below script-kiddies. They are below pedophiles. They are garbage, the worst scum that is lurking the internets. Damn, they are even below Kevin Poulsen." - ROFL.
- inactive, on 03/29/2008, -2/+49I don't know what the possible motivation behind this could be. The perpetrators are obviously cruel pathetic little kids who are need of a sound beating.
- kisforkate, on 03/29/2008, -10/+55Once again we see a display of the very worse of "humanity" (I use the word very, very loosely). It is beyond my comprehension how anyone can be so intentionally and callously cruel. I wonder how the perpetrators, whoever they may be, would have felt had someone suffered serious injury or death due to their malicious attack? One can only assume they'd be proud. As someone who lost a good friend due to a serious epileptic episode, I cannot despise the perpetrators enough.
- mwmccullough, on 03/29/2008, -5/+48First of all, this was an incredibly ***** thing to do. But if you don't have epileptic tendencies, check this out:
http://www.neave.com/strobe/ - Dr0x, on 03/29/2008, -1/+44Actually based upon Anonymous past attacks there are definitely people within Anonymous that would. Your logic that any time anonymous does something wrong its an attack from the CoS is extremely flawed, because at its core anonymous exists for nothing other than to create lulz, not to do the right thing.
- TheAkolyte, on 03/29/2008, -2/+42Anyone who does anything more complex then opening outlook or internet explorer on a computer is a hacker in the eyes of the public.
- xptweakerntn, on 03/29/2008, -2/+40I am not epileptic, however this link almost gave ME a seizure.
- SSUK, on 03/29/2008, -8/+45An annoymous member != a member of the Annoymous. Stupid *****.
- OpaqueMurdock, on 03/29/2008, -14/+51Am I missing something? How could anyone support this? What could you possibly have against epileptics as a group? I see you are getting dugg down into oblivion but I would also suggest just seriously asking yourself why you find this acceptable behavior. Is this the kinda world you wanna live in?
- inactive, on 03/29/2008, -4/+39There was no hacking. They posted on a public internet forum.
- iticu, on 03/29/2008, -0/+32You kind of just described /b/.
- Dr0x, on 03/29/2008, -5/+37Your a tool if you really believe that members of Anonymous wouldn't do this. Do you not have any idea of the awful things anonymous has done? By no means does Anonymous claim to be just, fair, or good, its full of sick and twisted people, that some how got hijacked by people on a mission against CoS.
- mdaize, on 03/29/2008, -12/+39Hey, its that tv show that gives everyone siezu...........
- mattletron, on 03/29/2008, -3/+29Agreed, posting a flashy picture or text to a forum is about the most un-hacker thing one could do. My mom could do that !
- Impact0115, on 03/29/2008, -1/+25Thank you! I was getting pretty sick of everyone thinking Anonymous was this great group of people. I mean, the CoS attack is great and all, but they do a lot of bad ***** routinely. Anonymous has been glorified by Digg so much that it's ridiculous. I mean, I'm pretty much positive that the CoS didn't attack epilepsy patients just so they could frame Anonymous, the CoS doesn't care that much to go to such lengths (as much as Digg may want to believe they do).
- liquidpele, on 03/29/2008, -7/+29The Link is really sick *****. Stop Digging it you stupid *****.
- NikoKun, on 03/29/2008, -0/+22Back in high school I made a qbasic program, that would flash bright neon colors very quickly.
We attached it into the autoexec.bat file of some school PCs... Boy did that confuse the school IT guy. LOL
Never thought it might trigger epilepsy... If I knew that back then, probably wouldn't have done it.
God only knows, why people would do that intentionally. - inactive, on 03/29/2008, -4/+24How the ***** is posting a link *hacking*, retards.
- Hoogs, on 03/29/2008, -3/+2313 people have actually dugg him up. Seeing as my mom has epilepsy, I wish I could digg him down more than once.
- liquidpele, on 03/29/2008, -6/+26I can make a ***** website that says I'm the king of Mexico, but that doesn't mean I am.
- heynoop, on 03/29/2008, -7/+27he said nsfw you idiot
- ianthepetrock, on 03/29/2008, -2/+21Yes this attack is straight from /b/. Trust me, I was on /b/ the day the thread came alive asking for people to send GIFs of flashing lights to the epilepsy forum.
Some /b/tards are heroes, most are just /b/tards as usual. - OverlordXenu, on 03/29/2008, -2/+21IT WUZ EBAUMS U GUIZE.
- RSnotRSS, on 03/29/2008, -36/+54Anonymous existed long before it decided to attack CoS. Check the very nsfw link: http://not420chan.com/i/res/116176.html
- OverlordXenu, on 03/29/2008, -2/+20The point is that they don't claim they are Anonymous. Only newfags and idiots do that.
- FeloniusMonkey, on 03/29/2008, -1/+19I stared for twice as long, and saw Rick Astley.
- mrbradg, on 03/29/2008, -10/+27***** douche bag! Don't click on that link. Unless you look knifes and *****. ***** *****.
- Meyithi, on 03/29/2008, -33/+50Nobody hacked anything, it was an open and poorly moderated forum. I'm surprised it's not happened earlier and at the stupidity of the forum operator.
- Radica1Faith, on 03/29/2008, -7/+24Look as much as I'd like to say, CoS did it. We can't really jump to conclusions. Anyone can say they are part of anonymous, theres no order, or anyway to kick someone out of anonymous. Its just an idea. And before the war on scientology, they did do some hacking at others expense (for the lulz). It definitely could be some chan retards. though I'm still not doubting the CoS possibility.
- bagelmaster, on 03/29/2008, -1/+17buried for burying a Simpson's reference
- OverlordXenu, on 03/29/2008, -0/+16Not really, they've attacked epilepsy forums before.
- Shadowgamers, on 03/29/2008, -5/+20This is what happens when you don't have proper security on forums like these. Flooding? XSS injection? Christ :V
- ianthepetrock, on 03/29/2008, -0/+15No, you guys are paranoid. Anonymous did this, they are anonymous. Most people only know anonymous as the scientology fighters but most are not.
I was on /b/ the day they did this. - roflbrothel, on 03/29/2008, -2/+171) Wired sucks and has little journalistic integrity, this is already pretty well known. If you take Wired seriously: you're an idiot.
2) If you don't think Anon would do something like this, see my previous statement about taking Wired seriously.
I'm not saying they did do it, but I can see the 7ch tards doing something like this. - DivisibleByZero, on 03/29/2008, -1/+16I do have to say that standing in front of a building with a sign doesn't make you a hacker by any traditional definition. But if you think that's all Anonymous does, you need to do some background research.
