- webguy2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21You can always use the official port numbers by the IANA here: http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers
- ckin2001, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I have a huge list of ports too
cat /etc/services
Of course, I prefer to find out what ports my windows computer is using with a little nmap lovefest. - xeigen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8People also need to start recognizing that you cant just assign exactly what articles you want to see on Digg.
If something is useful or interesting it may end up on the front page and if it is on the front page that means a lot of people dugg it and therefore wont care for your comments about how it shouldn't be on Digg. - AD7GD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I was really hoping the link was going to be file:/etc/services
- gmillerd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5ORLY? Examples?
- kubudubudubuntu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4nmap has a fairly big port's file too
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I love how the game Doom is port 666
- diagonalfish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This post is made of failure.
- Lorian, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Meh, it's not that big.
- tecmec, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Seconded, its way better, its also the one I have used in the past. Oh yeah, if you google for "port list" and its the first result...so why is a crappier list on the front page of Digg?
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1file:///etc/services maybe?
- monsieurevil, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2And in Windows, netstat is the command as well.
"netstat -an" for a basic tcp/udp list
"netstat -anob" for a more comprehensive list, including PID and process name. - nmaster64, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2http://www.portforward.com/
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1port 5405
tell me what is for. - echimu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On *nix system:
less /etc/services
grep 445 /etc/services - adrianguru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i love to leave open port 445 on my firewalls.
- prockcore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1In linux (not OSX) you can use netstat -natp to see which programs are currently connected to which ports. netstat -naup will list your open UDP ports.
- eyec, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i have found the Trojan Port listing below to be handy. it lists ports not found on Wiki.
http://www.simovits.com/trojans/trojans.html - Poltras, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2reported as Lame exactly because the IANA has been keeping a list online since... well... the creation of TCP/IP itself!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Port numbers are deprecated... programmers started using whatever port struck their fancy a long, long time ago.
- RickySan65, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Why? it's wikepedia it must be complete (and true) /Sarcasm
- KaosX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I think windows probably has an equivalent to this but Im not sure where it would be
mac/linux guys
cat /etc/services
Built in listing of what ports are used for what.
Saw that someone else made the same posting as I did at roughly the same time.
Quite sorry for the double information. - ZOPTIKEREN, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0xeigen
This only ends up in the front page because the submitter is a top 150 ranked digg user, and has a lot of "friends" digging the things he submits. The tech part of digg is hopefully still meant as primarily what it used to be - a part of digg intended for newsarticles and not a "socialbookmarking" . - trib4lmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Dugg for the QOTD port (17).
- detrate, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5I agree with you. Digg is not del.icio.us, people need to start recognizing this.
- ZOPTIKEREN, on 10/12/2007, -15/+7Articles from Wikipedia are not newsarticles. Marked as spam.
- detrate, on 10/12/2007, -12/+4Are you kidding me? If I wanted to know this information, I could have gone to wikipedia myself.
- roostishaw, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1That's the one I got bookmarked...
