- latova, on 10/12/2007, -5/+78I really don't know why they call it "Genuine Advantage", I don't see any advantage in having an extra program running in the background watching my license of windows.
- Scruffydan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+66This used to work, but not any more,
There is a crack out there that does work, nit that I would know where to find such a terrible thing.
Search for "Cracked_KB905474_Hotfix.rar" and you may find something of interest... completely unrelated of course;) - kefs, on 10/12/2007, -4/+36old.. this was good back when wga first started...
- cal01, on 10/12/2007, -5/+35This is very old and -does not work anymore-. BURY!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+42Your friend is Jesus Christ!?
- redxii, on 10/12/2007, -9/+29Bypass Windows Genuine Advantage, today!
http://www.ubuntu.com - maninblac1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21This was patched, inaccurate.
- scsikool, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Even with a legal copy, GA is a real pain. There are instances where I'm using nothing more than Outlook and I'm getting GA popups asking me to insert the Visio CD. I rarely use Visio if ever! GA is Stupid. GA has its own bugs.
- BillDoE, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12For those of you saying this works. Your OS hasn't been upgraded..lol
- 7sinz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"Marked as Inaccurate. Seriously, just buy a copy of XP, it isn't expensive, and if you are at, or know someone that is at a university or college chances are they can get a Volume copy for very cheap."
Excuse me? I don't know if you have money flowing out of your ass or something, but last I checked $299 for a legal copy of WinXP Pro is a tidbit expensive. What blows me away is they GIVE it away other places. My co-worker told me about his trip to Microsoft where gave away XP Pro CDs like the damn AOL CDs can seem to get rid of. They gave him five discs and five licence keys for nothing at all.
If you get your volume copy of XP from a family member/friend/colleague at Uni, it's still illegal. Sure it's got a valid licence key, but you aren't authorized to use that licence. Not to say I'm against it, but it's still not a LEGAL copy of Windows XP. - TheReport, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13"It would be kind of hypocritical for digg users to be running pirated copies of windows while bombing digg with linux stories and praise 24/7."
How is that hypocritical if anything it just validates the fact that they would never pay for a product that they could get for free and wouldnt use otherwise if they actually did have to pay for it. Instead opting for Linux. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7You're not alone. Hell I just updated about 30 machines at a company with a volume license key after WGA nuked a handful of their LEGIT Dell laptops. This nasty WGA crap has hit a ton of legitimate users that paid for their copy of Windows.
Microsoft sucks for pulling crap like this. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5removeWGA:
http://www.firewallleaktester.com/removewga.htm
update pirated xp with firefox:
http://windowsupdate.62nds.com/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Inaccurate, buried.
BTW I found a perfect match. A blunt object and the submitter's head. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Actually, I consider it hypocritical to bomb Digg with anti-Linux FUD and criticise Linux users for being communist hippies who are anti-capitalism (which is actually more of what happens), while trying to use Windows for free.
- spectre_25gt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This isn't just for people with pirated versions of windows. I've got a fully legal copy, but for some retarded reason, the WGA hotfix won't install from WindowsUpdate so I've been unpatched (except for critical updates through Automatic Update) for a while now. Luckily I run as a non-admin user.
I'd be very happy if I could bypass the WGA retardedness. - rende, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4thats exactly what i did :) wga made me switch. my only wish now is that some unix/crackers would actually help ms to make the wga uncrackable (or atleast as close to it as possible).
either buy windows or move to something within your budget. - Koskun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5As BillDoE just said, if you haven't applied any patches to XP in about 8 months to a year, I forget when this got changed, then yea, you can turn it off.
For a brief while you had to actually connect using Microsoft/Windows Update to have this changed, but now I believe it is downloaded and applied through the auto-updates. So unless you have that turned off you may not have gotten it.
And for those that think they can bypass this by not downloading a specific update you are wrong, this is slipstreamed (for lack of a better word) in the first time you connect to Windows/Microsoft Update or the auto-updater connects.
Marked as Inaccurate. Seriously, just buy a copy of XP, it isn't expensive, and if you are at, or know someone that is at a university or college chances are they can get a Volume copy for very cheap. - Teaboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I'd pay to ***** anything
- jimthetaff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Vista is free till next march! Then you don't need to bypass WGA...
- optikburn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What's the fuzz? I just skipped it from updates, then it never installed itself in my pirated copy of Windows..
- dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You must be about a year behind on your windows updates.
If you never update, then you won't get WGA bugging you, if you do update, this won't help you anymore.
There are other ways around it, such as telling windows to never install WGA (it's an optional update, just like any other, and is now named clearly since they almost got in trouble for not warning people that this update is annoying and can't be removed).
The patch that tells the computer that it's genuine (but won't generate the right codes for WGA only downloads) works well enough too. :) - dbug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why the hell is this crap story not marked as inaccurate yet? Digg doesn't work!
- mississippiman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3WGA is a bit much, and even when you have a legal copy of windows it still wants you to install an update for WGA about every 2 weeks....
- jimthetaff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2How can something that stopped working 6 months ago make it to the front page? They gotta devise some sort of algorithm to stop this *****, the front page is awful these days!
- Jakestaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just download muBlinder. Let it do all the work for you. Works like a charm.
- NismoDrift, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1or you know what jus use antiwpa and it fools the genuine thing to think its genuine and lets you update. small 1 mb dll file. just make sure you dont install updated genuine things.
http://antiwpa0.tk/ - theratdotus, on 12/11/2007, -0/+1sigh, i wish there was an easy way to do this!
- jockser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1damn damn how does this ubuntu works !
i tried everything and it didn't crack WGA, what am i doing wrong ?
i downloaded that big 700MB file but nothing !!
i think threes a problem with the gamesdoesntworkonlinux thingy. - Rainbow101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Remember that this is for downloading content off of the windows website, usually you cant download it if you have a fake copy of windows. If you use this method, you can bypass that. Just to clear up that this is not for activating windows or anything.
- Rainbow101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is not to activate a copy of windows! It is to download content from microsofts website that if you dont have a geniune copy it wont let you download. Like windows media player for example.
- mrinternet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2inaccurate (doesn't work) and the actual fix is a digg story I submitted 2 weeks ago anyhow. DOH!
Search story WGA ...hmmmm
http://digg.com/security/Bypass_WGA_Validation_and_Disable_WGA_Nag_Screen_thanks_to_Microsoft - Savut, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Upgrade your system, it won't work after the update
- igraham09, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yes
- jimthetaff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if you don't install it you can only get critical updates through automatic updates, and since critical is defined as microsoft as a flaw that could compromise the day to day working of the internet, your not getting all those important updates that while won't compromise the internet certainly will [enable hackers to] compromise your pc and sensitive data. Just get a oem copy of xp media centre edition (cheapest, plus it has the media centre theme that looks a little better than the standard xp one)how much time are you wasting trying to defeat this *****
- Scruffydan, on 10/12/2007, -11/+12if by 'just' u mean a year ago i belive you!
- Talus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How do articles like this get so many diggs?
Man, people believe anything they read. - etechonline2002, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2i just used to block it using my firewall. but this is a million times better. GOOD WORK.
- Masna, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Doesn't work anymore...
- aacidusX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2this is OOOLD and i concur, does not work anymore
the only thing that works is using the file called: WindowsXP-KB905474-ENU-x86-1.5.532.2-noWGA.exe
get it at a torrent site near you
i am using it with no probs so far - od1od1, on 11/18/2007, -0/+0comments...
- spyke01, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The only way to bypass it at this moment is to replace a dll with the cracked version, do asearch and find it. Buried
- shadowgate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1doesnt work...
- Rainbow101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This does work!!! I submitted this story just to show how bad Microsofts security is. I tried this on a friends computer and it really did work for him, and he was able to download the things he wanted. You guys who are saying it doesnt work dont know what you are talking about.
- gbm85, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Old, and doesn't work anymore.
- UnnDunn, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Buried as inaccurate. No digg for you.
- redlightman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you can bypass the genuine advantage right here. it works great. don't use the other crap because they are VIRUSES and will screw with your dll files. here is a great registry edit that won't harm your computer! ENJOY!!
http://www.rfuz.com/windows/tips-and-tricks/crack-or-hack-the-windows-xp-genuine-advantage-validation-check.html - dev22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0an easy way how to get rid of Windows Genuine Advantage Validation:
WGA *****
http://wga.releaselog.net/ - SadBeef, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1this has not worked for a very, very long time.
- DD32, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Agreed.... The first ~20 comments were all burry burry it doesnt work! its outdated!
...Just shows how many diggers will digg something because it looks interesting, rather than usable, And thinking "Its on the front page, it MUST be true!"
