Gmail users receiving messages flagged as being sent from themselves

isc.sans.org — Some Gmail users (myself included) are receiving messages that contain only strings of numbers, and Gmail is indicating that the message was sent from their own account. The Gmail Google Groups forum is being flooded with questions regarding this apparent security breach.

    Weird.

  • keysersoze1234, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At first glace it appears to be a security breach. I.E. somebody has your password and can send messages from your account. Hence the usage of the word "apparent".

  • anthonyp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's not just Gmail folks that are having this problem so it more than likely means it's the work of spammers. See for yourself as other non-Gmail users are receiving the same weird messages.
