Most browser updates target security issues. Especially those tiny little incremental updates like from 3.0.69999999 to 3.0.7. - tkcom, on 03/06/2009, -0/+18In other news: dogs target cats.
- thecheatah, on 03/06/2009, -0/+18poor soul...
no one understood ur sarcasm - LiberalsSuckAss, on 03/06/2009, -1/+17Quick! Can someone please find a way to blame the security issues here on Microsoft?
- Ouze, on 03/06/2009, -0/+151.) Firefox is developed by Mozilla, not Microsoft.
2.) Error 203 is caused by a corrupt Firefox profile folder, which again has nothing to do with Microsoft.
3.) Pidgin is a instant messaging application. A pigeon is a flying bird commonly found in metro areas.
4.) "Quickest" didn't really need to be capitalized there. It could have used a period, though.
5.) Firefox already asks you to allow an extension being allowed.
6.) It's considered good manners not to post unless you can improve the blank space on the page. I submit to you that you have failed at this. - thecheatah, on 03/06/2009, -2/+15Hmm, you need to pay attention. Security holes always exist. Its about how companies deal with them.
SEE HOW FAST THIS ***** GOT CLEANED UP? Do you even know about the many ways that ie lets viruses get installed? (ps. there is a new bug that exploits adobe + ie, does anyone know if it affects ff too?) I wonder how long it will take for this fix to make it to ur ie.
You dont know what your talking about... people are trying to protect ur security and your going around being a dick... - inactive, on 03/06/2009, -1/+9ya da firxofire is good! very well at browsering!

- xino, on 03/06/2009, -0/+6Lynx is an operating system too. Lynx is also the name of a web browser.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynx_(web_browser) - Pfkninenines, on 03/06/2009, -0/+6If they weren't important issues, I doubt they'd be put out twice in one month. Who cares if they're critical, the point is they're patched quickly. Better than what I can say about IE, the only other browser with enough market share to bother trying to find flaws.
- gohepcat, on 03/06/2009, -0/+6Haha. It shouldn't be too long. Just be patient.
- wakethefockup, on 03/06/2009, -0/+6Damn, you people jonez for something, anything to bitch about. At least they update their product, more than I can say for the majority of any software out there: most just sell you another p.o.s. billed as the next generation, when it should have been their regular product updated. Firefox is a superior product.

- ethana2, on 03/06/2009, -0/+5It'll show up in update-manager when Canonical issues it, I don't especially need to see this on Digg.
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -0/+5He said you can still protect your computer even if your browser is not that good, which is kinda true. Sarcasm fail on his part.
- gohepcat, on 03/06/2009, -0/+5How many security updates are going to be released for all platforms before people just start excepting that this is how it is...for everyone. I don't look at my weekly security updates for Redhat and think there is anything wrong with that. Nor do I think the same of Firefox or IE updates.
- Ouze, on 03/06/2009, -0/+5that was master level trolling. It's a shame you got dugg down.
- ethana2, on 03/06/2009, -1/+5Package management is a lot of why I prefer Ubuntu 8.10 over Mac OS 10.4.11
- stockjones, on 03/06/2009, -0/+4I want the new FF with minefield. Then we'll have the fastest most secure and customizable browser of them all. lol's at all the other browsers copying firebug. I do like that webkit speed. Come on Mozilla light em up.
http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=2748 - HonoredMule, on 03/06/2009, -0/+3You have to admit that IE 6 is a much lighter and faster browser than later versions, making it the optimal one with which to download Firefox.
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -3/+6Ya'll ***** posting in a troll thread.
- adverpart, on 03/06/2009, -0/+3This is a good thing. In a way, every Firefox update triumphantly highlights the continuing superiority of open source, community development, and software engineering based on user experience, security, and needs over the archaic model of half-assed proprietary corporate bottom-line measures.
However, it is also completely mundane and not interesting at all. Keep it off the front page. - 4321234, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2Mr. Snugglebear addresses all my security issues.
- Eight7, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2All the cool kids are already running 3.1
- sirico, on 03/06/2009, -0/+2Should pay more attention to the frequent crashes people experience since ver.3
- drmsux, on 03/06/2009, -2/+4Enjoy your ASCII porn
- fungie5, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2No, the browser's just fine. It's your PC that has the problem.
If your PC has had windows installed on it for more than a year, you most certainly will have errors in your system registry. I discovered the hard way that system registry errors can prevent properly installed software (especially browsers) from working properly. Last year i installed the (then) new Safari 3 on two of my XP PCs. Safari crashed without mercy on one of them while on the other it ran without a flaw. That's when it occurred to me that the system with the older, corrupted system registry was the one giving all the trouble - and it was only one of several software to misbehave on that system. If the problem is indeed your registry, you need to get registry cleaning software - or alternately, you'd need to do a clean install of windows. - inactive, on 03/06/2009, -0/+2Bah. They broke something. The new update; for me, makes digg comment pages scroll like the browser is running on an 8088.
- HonoredMule, on 03/06/2009, -0/+2How can something that ALREADY exists ever be vaporware? Perhaps you need to go look up that word.
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2Someone already has -- read a few posts up by "darkmagician777"
- stockjones, on 03/06/2009, -0/+2I like Safari's speed. Webkit is awesome, but once FF 3.1 with minefield comes out it will be as fast but more secure.
Don't kid thyself about Safari security.

- Kanaka, on 03/06/2009, -1/+2I still hate the fact that the stupid browser won't automatically check for updates AND if you check manually it NEVER finds an update and you're forced to download the whole browser again to get the updated version on Mac OS
- uremomsnitemare, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1What's going on here? I thought digg used to be full of intelligent people. In the past few weeks I've seen quite a few people saying how much they like IE6. Why are all theses morons on my digg now :-(
- fungie5, on 03/07/2009, -0/+1@gohepcat,
Did someone say they were looking for evidence that MS takes longer to patch 'stuff'? Here you go...
http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=2786
@thecheatah,
If you're talking about the Adobe Acrobat Reader vulnerability, then no, that's still not patched yet. Actually, all you need to do for now (until the patch ships later this month) is to go to the Adobe Reader settings menu and turn off the java-script - that prevents any malicious pdf code from executing. If you're talking about the Adobe Flash player flaw, there's a new flash player version that came out about a week ago that fixed it. The version number is 10.0.22.87. You can get it at the Adobe website. - fungie5, on 03/07/2009, -0/+1Most likely the videos you refer to are in 'flash format' so, to get the best video performance, you should upgrade your flash player plug-in to the latest one - just go to www.adobe.com and click on the flash player icon. The latest version is the most stable I've seen to date and it makes far better use of your graphics card.
- sirico, on 03/08/2009, -0/+1fair point, but I had exspirenced it with a new install. Seems to have stoped since recent update so i retract my comment and dig yours.
- fungie5, on 03/07/2009, -0/+1It arrived yesterday on Ubuntu's update manager - just 24 hours after release by Mozilla as usual.
- ethana2, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1*shrug*
Firefox came with my Dell.
It's okay. - Lionhart, on 03/07/2009, -0/+1got it confused with 3.1 which has been pushed back many many times.
- HonoredMule, on 03/06/2009, -1/+1Most "tiny little incremental updates" (especially in OSS) consist primarily if not entirely of bug fixes. Most bugs have no exploitable security implications.
- jemka, on 03/06/2009, -1/+1After reading your post, I just uninstalled it too. Thanks! You're a life saver.
