- mikeroySoft, on 10/19/2009, -0/+11I got this in my inbox the other day... I was impressed it was able to bypass the gmail filters, but anyone who can read a URL could clearly see it wasn't coming from CNN.
- TheCash, on 01/10/2009, -1/+12This goes great with that story earlier reporting that CNN had been duped by an Islamic reporter they'd hired to send back footage from inside the Gaza strip.
From Reuters:
"Did CNN Air Fake Footage From Gaza?
9 January 2009 1:37 AM, PST
CNN is being accused of showing fake news footage of a journalist in Gaza returning home and finding his young brother mortally wounded as the result of an Israeli missile attack. After viewing the footage, a man claiming to be a U.S. doctor and writing under the handle "Last Mohican," posted a letter on the Little Green Footballs political blog claiming that footage of two doctors performing CPR on the boy were faking it. One of the doctors in the scene was later identified as Norwegian doctor Mads Gilbert, a supporter of Hamas, and the journalist was identified as the owner of a business that hosts Hamas websites. CNN reportedly removed the video after receiving word of the accusations -- which was reported on several pro-Israeli websites -- but did not issue a retraction." - Tichondrius74, on 01/10/2009, -1/+10Well that's the last time I go to fake.cnn.com.

- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -1/+8Are you kidding? VERY few people would know that's not legit. Even somewhat competent users could possibly think that's just the installer that downloads the actual file, which are always very small.
There's nothing wrong with nerds, it's the pompous one's that give us all a bad name. - scottreed, on 01/09/2009, -8/+15You'd have to be just damn stupid. 35.5kb for flashplayer?
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7From this Trojan yes.
From being the annoying douche bag that makes sure people know h uses Linux every chance he gets? Nope. - WafflePirate, on 01/10/2009, -1/+7So other people don't accidentally infect their systems with the trojan..

- Ewingo401, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5Obligatory "Linux FTW" comment...but seriously I'd be safe from this thing no matter what OS I was running seeing as how I wouldn't be stupid enough to install it.

3:48AM. I need sleep. - Vector713, on 01/10/2009, -0/+4Good thing I don't read CNN lol. Digg is all the news I need!
/s - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -2/+6It doesn't anger me that people can still support Hamas, it just makes me really, really sad.
- CoreyHalliwell, on 01/10/2009, -1/+5I hid a trojan in your mom last night...no seriously It broke and fell off I think shes pregnant...
- greenanator, on 01/10/2009, -0/+4Fishing with trojans, eh?
- MrPatriotMan, on 01/10/2009, -1/+5If I was hooking up with CNN I would use a Trojan condom also...
- joshuaer, on 01/10/2009, -0/+4Yes it makes it so the "minnows' to not get out.
- altgeeky1, on 01/10/2009, -1/+4Why the the hell isn't CNN.com specifying their email servers using DNS SPF records, and signing their emails with DKIM?
- rnawky, on 01/10/2009, -1/+4The suckers never seem to figure out how computers work.
Oh by the way, do you want to see my underage teen daughter? Just click here! http://sketchyname.com/this_is_an_img.jpg.exe - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+3CNN brought the video back, and insists it's legit.
I trust CNN much more than a racist hate blog like LGF and it's conspiracy theories. LGF's whole proof is one 'commenter' who 'claims' to be a doctor thinks video is fake. LGF calls 'anybody' who criticizes Israel a terrorist supporting anti-semite and that's why they win awards and praise from Israeli media every year.
The video is available for the world to see, so if CNN brought it back, that means they made sure it's not fake. - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+3I've personally been using a Windows computer with an updated NOD32 running, using Firefox, and the simple act of loading a website (not clicking on ANYTHING, no box appeared) instantly infected the computer with malware.. It looks like this one indeed makes you download and install a file, but don't count on always having the luxury of a warning.
- Interestingness, on 01/10/2009, -0/+3FAQ CNN, isn't that FAQ News?

- mississippiman, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2Where is the ANY key!?
- xero69, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2While I like Macs and Linux too I wanted to point out that the windoze machine would not be "instantly infected". The article specifically said the users were tricked into downloading and installing a fake "Adobe media player". On a side note, WOW, people are dumb if they don't even look at the ***** URL in their browser before downloading and installing something!

Hows the trolling tonight? Any bites? - SpiritOfRock, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2I wish they'd have posted his E-mail, I'd send him my credit card information myself. That was *****' impressive.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+2I figured they'd blur it out, but to be honest I'd love to know what it is. Plenty of people I'd love to show what I mean when I say running a Mac is cheaper in the long run.
Nothing could convince a client faster than having a Windows system and Mac system sitting side by side loading that website, one becoming instantly infected, and one just going along unfazed. I - TheCash, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1You're obviously not CPR trained then.
Hard to call it a baseless conspiracy when both the individuals behind the video have strong ties to Hamas. That would be like expecting an unbiased story on the democratic party from a right wing nut job, or a balanced description of homosexual civil rights history by those religious freaks that picket soldier's funerals with the God Hates Fags signs.
And if you believe CNN so easily, you really need to get out more. They have an agenda like everyone else, they call theirs "ratings." - unluckier, on 01/10/2009, -0/+1What's ironic is that "fake.cnn.com" would be a perfectly legitimate CNN website.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+1CNN gets laid a lot. They only hide their Trojans so they don't look like douches for rubbing it in.
- joshuaer, on 01/10/2009, -1/+2quickest way to just it down is to put the real link and digg and have the uses do what they do best kill servers!.
- blackturtleus, on 01/10/2009, -0/+1I received a few of those emails. I didn't even open them since they were kind of obvious. It seems that most of these email schemes originate from countries and the perpetrators don't have a terribly good ability to use the English language!
- chadsmith729, on 01/10/2009, -2/+3Digg, always Trojan free. This makes me appreciate Digg more now than ever!

"goodwithjerking" isn't a troll, he's an @sshole. "joeeezy" is an @sshole++.
Let's not make this devolve into a Mac vs. PC thing. - fandyllic, on 01/10/2009, -0/+0Buried. Get a Mac... or Linux.
