- inactive, on 08/11/2008, -0/+28ALL YOUR WALL POSTS ARE BELONG TO US.
Status Change: Mike is now gay - inactive, on 08/10/2008, -1/+18This recently happened to one of my friends on Facebook...He did have to change all his passwords because they were all the same. This is a real concern. Beware.
- spotlighteffect, on 08/10/2008, -1/+15weird thumbnail... thanks for submitting the story though!
- Bomega, on 08/10/2008, -0/+12When you Digg an url sometimes Digg suggest an image from that site as an illustration. That image you see is on our website and is always suggested as the default image. Don't know why but it is a Digg 'Feature'.
You can just as easily choose 'No image' or pick a different image from the site you are Diggin but apparently 'MacBookForMe' didn't know that... - virtualonliner, on 08/10/2008, -3/+15What is it with China in the title? The article has no indication that the phishers are of Chinese origin. Is it merely because the whois has "changfeng zhang"? Besides "FaceBook Under Massive Phishing Attack From China" somehow means "China" is attacking Facebook!
- clarocada, on 08/10/2008, -1/+12Digg really is odd in its choice of thumbnails - seems to be a random choice from what it finds on the page that is dugg - the digger (diggee?) can select, but I often find these are not the most relevant graphics for the story.
- pinkpackrat, on 08/10/2008, -0/+7thumbnail aside-- this is good info. I never log on to anything from inside and email--always go to the site itself, but then I am a bit paranoid:-)
- darkcrystal, on 08/11/2008, -0/+7Mostly harmful for Windows users? da fuk. I'm taking a wild guess that this is what they do with stolen passwords:
1. get passwords
2. try to use them to log into countless bank, email, and other websites where they can steal *****.
3. ???
4. steal monies/moar phishing.
nothing here is os based. lol@mac users. once again, you prove your computational knowledge. - Khast, on 08/11/2008, -0/+6Hmm.. we all know that phishing has been going on for some time. You just got an e-mail from paypal saying that your account has been compromised and you need to login....click here. Bank of America sends you an e-mail :Your bank account is overdrawn, click here to login.
Yeah, in this day in age, with all the phishing...YOU ARE A COMPLETE MORON IF YOU CLICK LINKS IN YOUR E-MAIL....If you are concerned that your paypal account has been compromised, Bank of America needs to get a hold of you... GO TO YOUR BROWSER, TYPE IN THE URL AND GO...no worries, it's easy...and gee look, your account is just fine.
Oh, another thing, if you don't have an account with eBay, Paypal, Bank of America, or any other company which contacts you....100% chance it is phishing...delete the e-mail. Another good sign is very poor English...."your account are overdrawn...login here"
It completely amazes me at how much phishing activity I get these days. I sell on eBay, and I strictly state on my auctions that I will not use the "reply" button in the e-mails...I will either reply via e-mail, or go directly to eBay to answer the question. I won't click on links in e-mails, ect. I also make sure that the bottom panel on my e-mail client shows the actual address the link will send you to. - jayrok, on 08/11/2008, -0/+6Confucius say: Give a man a phish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to phish and he will eat for a lifetime.
- spotlighteffect, on 08/10/2008, -0/+5they should work on that indeed
- aussiessuck, on 08/11/2008, -1/+5The amount of time wasted with farcebook would be better spent catching up with friends in the real world.
- Nepenthes, on 08/11/2008, -0/+4China has access to Facebook? This could all be avoided with a simple mention of Tibet or Amnesty International somewhere on every page.
- neFariou5, on 08/11/2008, -0/+4Dugg for article being updated to accommodate for thumbnail
- tonicboy, on 08/10/2008, -10/+14This is silly, what the hell do hackers want with Facebook accounts? Hey wait a minute, maybe they're the ***** who keep sending me stupid app requests. My God, their goal must be none other than the complete degradation of American culture! Insidious. By the way, WHOIS data never includes IP address, only nameservers who are responsible for that IP address. But why the hell is the thumbnail for this article "5 Questions for Start-Ups"?
- irishjays, on 08/11/2008, -0/+4Suddenly my friend Steve was 99 years old, gay, and in a relationship with Yao Ming, his life has been ruined. He hates the Rockets and old people.
- CrushThemTorg, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3First Xiaonei steals their design, now they're trying to steal the users. Genius.

Spam the phishers?
Maybe using something more convincing than DICKSDICKSDICKSDICKSDICKS would be better. - WELLDOITLIVE, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3an url? Do you pronounce it like Earl?
- hotpuck6, on 08/11/2008, -0/+3i just keep my passwords saved. While it could pose a real problem if i ever do something stupid and my system is compromised, it's easier to red flag fraudulent websites when a username/password combo doesn't pop up when they should and just make sure to type in the URL.
- Albumen, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2Prolification?
- gmoo, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2Goons steal social network accounts such as myspace/facebook because most people use the same password for email. They can then search your email for any useful/valuable information. I am sure some of these characters try the same email address and password on services such as paypal.
- zmigliozzi, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2Who the hell has ever heard of the site thenextweb.org before this, seriously.
- hawksfan03, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2I clicked on one of these links yesterday using FF3, I knew it was fake but I wanted to see if FF3 phishing filter would catch it. Yesterday it did not but today it is a blocked website, unfortunately most of the people using FF3 would know this is a hoax and this will take advantage of the less informed people who still use IE and think every link on the internet is legit.
- sirber, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2one fake site and facebook is now UNDER MASSIVE ATTACK BY THE CHINESE!!!!!
cmon.... - billybobbernard, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2To what?
- CobaltBlue, on 08/11/2008, -2/+4Digg submission thumbnails have been hacked by the Chinese too!
- inactive, on 08/11/2008, -1/+3First of all, there are always phishing attacks going on from China and other Asian countries and also from African countries and Eastern European countries and Russia.
This is why I use three different sets of passwords. One for social sites, one for financial sites and other sensitive sites and one for work and work related sites. I also use a different one for my computer. And I change all of them every 4 to 6 months. - spotlighteffect, on 08/11/2008, -0/+2thanks :-)
- Sub7, on 08/11/2008, -1/+3Seriously, you're a ***** moron if you think putting personal details and photos on the internet is a good idea.
Why not just post your real name, address, phone number and a photo in /b/ somewhere? - 1angelinajolie, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1It made the FP. Your bury was worthless.

- tonicboy, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1It's just because the domain registrar is Chinese, but that's about as tenuous a link as Iraq and WMDs.
- tonicboy, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1Thanks for assuming I don't have basic common sense. The article (which I read, thanks) says nothing about what these hackers plan to do with facebook accounts, other than vaguely implying that once they have your facebook login, this is somehow the keys to your kingdom.
- tedrock, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1Your first question was answered in the article. You should actually read the stuff you comment on.
- inactive, on 08/11/2008, -1/+1because 'cn' = china, just like 'ca' for canada,

- inactive, on 08/11/2008, -2/+1did anybody look at the code for the phishing site? i wonder why they include this guy's facebook..
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=81014163 - haloplayer9672, on 08/11/2008, -4/+2That sums up my opinion on the article. Buried as inaccurate.
