RFID in passports is iNsAnE, and totally unneeded, as it says here:

I'm reporting all links to blogs as bad link. - crosswick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh no, not again :-) We've got a bit of a history with dodgy passport systems in Holland; there was a huge scandal in the eighties about the new passport not living up to standards. Back then the defense minister resigned over it, and we nearly had a full-blown parliamentary crisis.
Can't wait :-) - Ruudje, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah. I'm also dutch..

"According to the Dutch Interior Ministry ways to improve the security of the passport are being looked at. But note that they say "improve", not "fix"."
This is always the problem in this country, they try to improve stuff. Never fix it. :( - DoubleU, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No digg!
Stories with links to a Blog that only contain link to the original article will be marked by me as SPAM! - Coletrickle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they dont have to recall them, cause i dont believe anybody has one yet. It's still beeing tested afaik
- Noxjunx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wonder what the Dutch are going to do about it? Recall all of the passports?
- sjors, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am also dutch, strange thing is that no media picked it up so far. The new Identity Law (Identificatieplicht) requires everyone, aged 14 and above, to carry official identification in the Netherlands. I am wondering how the government is gonna handle this :)
- dFaktor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0damn, i have such a passport. usually you have to pay a fee when you renew your passport. i hope when the dutch government decides to replace them it will be free. these passports are still not very common here in holland, so i think the damage is small.

Amen brother. - tiamat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"internatiomal legislation"? Last time I checked, there was no such thing. These are rules the US set down for everyone else to follow, but it doesn't require RFID, just biometrics.
- beatniak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Check the video here (in dutch, but hey, I'm a dutchy): http://nl.sitestat.com/klo/vara/s?vara.tv.Nieuwslicht.bb_20060127_asf&ns_type=clickout&ns_url=[http://cgi.omroep.nl/cgi-bin/streams?/vara/tv/nieuwslicht/bb.20060127.asf]
- memoriesofgreen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you are in the UK, and feel strongly about this issue please use http://faxyourmp.com to contact your MP with a link to this article.

- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It is a link to a blog with almost no discussion, but it's also big news. It deserves to be on the front page. Just give a better link in your comments, it's not hard.
- munkt0n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0please, please don't link to blogs.

Stories with links to a Blog that only contain a link to an article and no real comment... SPAM! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+01% of the blogs actually are inciteful and useful
it is a shame they are joined by 99% of the useless blogs like this one..
less noticable but just as annoying is people using redirect scripts so they can get the traffic without having the article.. also lets them dupe articles already posted.
As for the article.. figures. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Just wait til the governmental psychos start tattooing our information on us or using chip implants...
...then you will see a rash of hands/arms/etc removal crimes being committed. - EagleY, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ahh, you'v got 2 luv teknology
