Bravo, Attorney General Spitzer for following through with this lawsuit against Direct Revenue! I am one person among MANY who have spent hours upon hours helping victims remove infections of VX2, Aurora, and OfferOptimizer, and the like from their computers. They definitely need to be put out of business.

This article is a coincidence for me, I first encountered Aurora tonight on a user's laptop. Somewhere on their site they say something along the lines of "we believe it should be easy to uninstall our software if you do not want it" and have a supposed uninstall utility... yeah, that's why you can watch Nail.exe being re-written every 5 seconds in FileMonNT, you kill their random-lettered process and it restarts as another random-lettered process, and you can remove Nail.exe from the Shell line in regedit and it will be instantly replaced by the resident program. Who would ever want to run their uninstall utility when you see this malicious kind of behavior?

In conclusion, someone please murder this company.

I think that people who create spyware should get double the punishment of Kevin Mitnick (meaning 10 years prison, 16 months solitary confinement, and not being allowed to use any communications technology besides a landline telephone for six years). Killing someone is just too quick, too merciful.

I don't know about you, but I think my toolkit is GUARANTEED to wipe out any piece of spyware. Looks like this:
1. External USB hard disk
2. Knoppix disc
3. Install discs

This is great, it's about time there is mass evidence of how people have been stolen from for years. It’s getting to the point that you can’t even put your computer on the Internet without the worry of destruction. People don’t understand that the seemingly innocent joke emails that float around the web where you click on a link to see the joke can add software to your system. There is no way that everyone who purchases a computer can even comprehend all the ways they can be attacked by the Internet. Steps such as these are the building block for protecting the Internet viewer. This works well for the companies that have built there business around them but there are the large groups of Internet Thieves who do this for a living but they are not a company. They don’t sell software, they don’t market software. They build consumer traps. Web sites, jokes, ecards, emails, video and more can all trigger negative or undesirable results, install software, take information from your computer and more. As a programmer and technologist I am see what can be done and how easy it can be done and the public is quickly becoming aware of these hazards. I feel they are tired of having to keep 3 or 4 programs updated, installed, defined and running on their systems just so they can use the web. Email is quickly becoming a non-reliable form of communication due to all the spam and the spam filters and spam services are killing the market by blocking IP address that they think are spammers. The problem is that the spammers use tools to prevent the correct IP address from being read so this does no good. I am not sure where this is all going but I see this as a step in the right direction.

I would hope that the lawsuit includes not just them, but every one of their investors and every company they have ever advertised for. If there was no money in it for them, they would not be where they are at in the first place.
