- macattacks10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I live in Minnesota, it doesn't work any more as this year they have issued new licenses with brand new numbers that are completely randomized.
- cssdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"numbers that are completely randomized"
Don't go there... - Wamzlee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0btw, I dugg the story
--Digg - Wamzlee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow...it really worked for the Wisconsin one! Woot!
I wonder what use this is for? Can I use it to benefit me? haha - macattacks10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^ As I stated above, this past year they are now issuing new licenses with new numbers that are "randomly" generated opposed to before. If you go look at your old one, it should be exactly that.
- notman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm here in Michigan and it worked for me. Got mine exactly. Kinda scary if you think about it. The info I put in is pretty accessible knowledge.
- macattacks10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well that's what they claim anyways. It does work on the old ones, I just tried. They say it isn't based on your information like the old ones, so either they go down the list of numbers, or they just throw together a bunch of numbers.
- irright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Do a lot of people have duplicate numbers? Or am i missing something?
Suppose Daniel Dale Smith and David Dane Smith have the same birthday.
I'm sure there are many more examples. - focitrixilousP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Minnesota is broken. Not even close to my number.
- samk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just wondering... Is there any criminal value in collecting names, birthdates, and IP addresses of thousands of people?
- TokinDerrick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0doesn't work for illinois.
- 21.0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Worked for moi in Florida :D
- kimuuu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It almost got my MD card... kinda close.
- kat_ryder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Missed the second to last 3 number group of my Maryland one.
- jessejanderson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow, is that what normal drivers license numbers look like?
here in Washington state our lic numbers are the first 5 letters of our last name followed by first and middle initial... and then 3 random (random? ha!) numbers and then 2 random letters.
i.e.
Bill Frank Jackson - JACKSBF123AB - semsskater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i did my moms and told i could read the numbers through the card like a magic trick
- w3bsmith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This worked beautifully for my michigan ln.
- paulbridges02, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i got it to work for mine in IL...didnt trust putting info in but went through the steps with my license in front of me and worked perfectly.
- macattacks10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well it depends on what your definition of random is. If you think too much, of course nothing really is random. But then there is no point in calling anything random if it really isn't. So thinking into those things too much really isn't a good thing or else there is no other way to describe other than pulling numbers out of a hat and making it your driver's license number, which by a normal definition would be random as it has nothing to do with your name, birth date or anything else about you, unless they are just making that up.
- ph3rny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0just to point out nuthin is random
- morlab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Washington state licenses # are purposefully made so the bartender can determine the year of birth based on the license # and identify poorly made fake ids.
- BigTuna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Call me paranoid, but I'm not plugging my info into that form. This may be a well known algorithm and getting the correct info for someone is pretty easy, but this guy is just sitting back and collecting piles of free info for no work.
I personally think that much of the "identity theft" the news media throws around lately is a bit overblown, but I'm still not going to willingly plug any pertinent information about myself into some web form. - kingofallchili, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Works for Maryland!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am from Illinois and it worked for me.
- kurtm85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0got my Maryland number exactly!
- BigDog969, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesn't work for Colorado :(

submit a FL DL # and get back License class, Restrictions, Endorsements, and Expiration Date for Florida DMV - japunto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Digg the site.
About the story title, I'm going to wear my Conan the Grammarian hat for a second: the word should be "enciphering". - pinc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0this is old information.
