The title says "Security/Hacking/Phreaking Podcasts That Don’t Suck".
You're talkin *****. Plain and simple. Where's the word technology?
What's worse is you actually repeated that incorrect quote three times! - CypherXero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14@cumic
What the hell are you talking about? Quit rambling. - CypherXero, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Because it's a show for script kiddies.
- mikedpirone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10uhm, isn't diggnation a podcast about the top user submitted articles of the week from the website digg.com which is a user driven content site?
- rogerbannister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@moonwell
"this 2600 group pathetic"
Have you no respect for your forefathers? Have you never read 2600 magazine? Do you even know the significance of 2600 Hz? (Hint: blueboxing)
Damn! digg really does have some scriptkiddies still in diapers, heh. - Kizzle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8http://hackermedia.org keeps track of all these shows and more. It takes awhile to load though but it's worth it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Dudes name is Cumic...huh huh huh what a faggonwaggon
- Seal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I second this shameless promotion:
Viva las hackermedia.org! - streamx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.schneier.com/blog/
- Abjure, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8I failed to see The Broken...
- funka7ron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Another one folks might find interesting is the CERIAS Security Seminar video podcast, which we've just started up about a month ago.
http://www.cerias.purdue.edu/news_and_events/events/security_seminar/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Dude cumic i kinda feel bad for you, you just got crucified on digg. Maybe you should accept that you will never rebound on this thread and move on to your next atrocity.
- Seal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4That's a good thing. Thebroken in its current form is as lame as seeing someone's dad start to smoke weed just "to be cool" with his kid. Or seeing the same dad dressing up gangsta-style in public, for much of the same reason.
Hak.5 is much, much better. But still not a podcast. - dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If theres a perfectly working, full URL, is it really nessairy to reply to it with one that depends on a referer.....?
- Ben - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"This show, hosted by Emmanuel Goldstein, has been running since the 80's and has become somewhat legendary in the Hacking and Phreaking communities as it's been there to document the evolution of technology. Definitely worth a listen."
Can anyone confirm or deny if this guy was the direct inspiration for the Emmanuel Goldstein character in the movie Hackers played by Matthew Lillard? - CARPEDATAM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Webex: Surviving Patch Tuesday with Richard Stiennon (reg required)

FYI - diggm0nster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Many of these shows stream on http://www.ddphackradio.org/ along with some others that weren't mentioned.
- MikePricee, on 03/06/2009, -0/+1Thank you http://www.unlockcomputers.com/
- brunner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah, I did let one or two podcasts that weren't completely security-centered slip in near the end. While their main focus isn't security, they often end up talking about security-related topics. There's often a great deal of overlap.
- 2Wrongs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was initially psyched when I heard about paul dot com, but after listening to it a couple of times, I've been underwhelmed. They seem very knowledgeable but for some reason never go into any depth. Perhaps they're trying to appeal to a broader audience.
Compound that with the fact they they're usually unprepared. I know it's free, but damn; at least read the articles before the show. I can read read security updates too; what I want to hear is insightful analysis, which is usually absent.
Cool list otherwise. - m0nk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Is funny one if the writer's criteria for being a good security related podcast?
- dgh1973, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wait a minute, I just finished the whole list and I'm seeing stuff like lugradio and tllts mentioned...
While Linux may be the preferred platform of security professionals purely from the "availability of tools" perspective I fail to see how those two relate to security concepts at all.
Lugradio is awesome, but those guys are far to busy arguing with each other about what open source programs they want to see or doing Stallman impersonations to have any real clue about security issues. Some of the others I would agree with but there are some on this list that I have checked out that I felt were either uninformed or just plain underwhelming.
Oh well, still dugg. - rogerbannister, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Some of these podcasts seem fairly useful, which brings a question to mind: What are some good computer security related blogs (or Web 2.0 sites) out there right now?
Yes, I know that digg.com/security exists, but it's very lightweight. - inactive, on 09/08/2008, -1/+1The best mortgage rates, refinance, home loan, real estate, realty http://tophomemortgageloan.com
- mcnugget, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Can't believe PLA is on there, let alone 4th on the list. That bloke is creepy and very unfunny. Anyone agree?
- pytro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Thanks, everyone!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1"Can anyone confirm or deny if this guy was the direct inspiration for the Emmanuel Goldstein character in the movie Hackers played by Matthew Lillard?"
He was. I believe Eric Corley (the Emmanuel Goldstein from 2600) was a consultant for the film. Either way, Lillard's character was definitely named after him, and he in turn took his name from the main character from 1984. - lozaning, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4since when is the broken a podcast?
- mcnugget, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Cumic quit while you're behind mate.
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5http://duggmirror.com/security/Complete_Security_Hacking_Phreaking_Podcast_Review/
- TinMan, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3because it sucks...
- dgh1973, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3"Dispite that fact that Steve Gibson is a total tool who proves repeatedly that he knows alot less than he thinks he does[...]"
Ahh so true... yet this is one I tune in to as well, probably for similar reasons.
Dugg. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Oh man you have no clue whats security. Half of the links is junk like "Off The Hook". I don't know what others opinion but this 2600 group pathetic.
Let's see the others "Network Security Blog" for example:
"Vista Licensing explained."
"Congratulations to the Behtlich family
General
Well, this is only kinda security related: Richard Bejtlich, author of the TaoSecurity blog has added a new daughter to his family. Sounds like everyone is doing well. How long until Richard has her doing security audits or network forensics?"
"CCNA certified logo" -mwahahahahaha, ok thats it, this guy is the ***** security GOD as I see .... :****
So you try to advertise your buddys crap on digg thats ok, but at least give another name for it as the previous guy said. - Abjure, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Its a vidcast whatever it fits in the same ***** no need to be a nazi.
- cumic, on 10/12/2007, -17/+0Did you follow the link? Did you visit the original article? Did you read the real title?
- cumic, on 10/12/2007, -18/+0The real article (follow the links) has "Technology" in the title.
- cumic, on 10/12/2007, -32/+1I will repeat it:
The title says "Security/Technology/Hacking/Phreaking Podcasts That Don’t Suck"
Again, "Security/Technology/Hacking/Phreaking Podcasts" - cumic, on 10/12/2007, -51/+0The title says "Security/Technology/Hacking/Phreaking Podcasts That Don’t Suck"
...and Diggnation is not in the list...
...so you say, in Digg, that Diggnation sucks!
I want to hire you. You're great on advertising.
