- bonedog73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have had problems for 3 weeks, just changed my DNS servers and I'm going again, no help from 3 comcast techs, are these guys just stupid? They must like coming to my house.
- Wuss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Click on "My Computer". Click on "My Network Places". Click on "View Connections". Right click on the connection that supports your internet connection and go to "Properties". Double click on the Internet Protocol TCP/IP option. Make sure "Use the following DNS server addresss" is selected, and input the above recommended DNS.
To check go to "Start > Run > "cmd" ". Type in "ipconfig /all" and you should see the DNS you input where it says "DNS". - rpalmeri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1switch to OpenDNS!
- Patranus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would suggest acquiring Tor from the EFF. It not only give you a DNS but makes your web usage practically untraceable - good for you paranoid people.
- tonytug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For the last week or so I've been having timeout problems via the Comcast DNS - I switched to the Verizons DNS 4.2.2.1 and .2 - Results? Most Excellent!
- spirus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Aah, that explains my slow internet. Thanks.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry, frigging comcast!
- smash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Comcast's DNS sucks.
- Kerim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+04.2.2.1 does work? where did you get that info?
Can't find anything on comcast.net - tnoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Message I got from a friend on this problem:
Comcast DNS is down for people having problems, you can switch your DNS to Verizons. 4.2.2.1 and/or 4.2.2.2 Enjoy! - DarkHack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is the second time that this has happen.
- bytehead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm using 204.127.202.19 and 216.148.227.79, which are the old attbi.com name servers, which still work. These are ns9 and ns8. There is ns1-2, ns5-9, and ns11-14 that are still listed in the DNS. I'm having a good ole time with everybody not using these servers.
- 4Runner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+04.2.2.1/2/3 = Verizon's DNS server.
- dataset, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I called and asked for my $3.34. They complied. Go figure.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kick ass! Dude, imagine if the millions of people did that!
- raven98030, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DNS all of this is new too me.So I have too find a good DNS server damn I have too google that.first time for me too do this
- Wuss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Comcast caps at 4mbs? I get consistent dl speeds of 5-6Mbs, and have peaked all the way up to 9mbs, this is residential service. Uploads are around 300k+ for me.
- digital_ice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You'll think they have backup dns servers to prevent this kind of problem.
- cheeseonstuf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i called canadia to find out what the issue was this time.
they said they intentionally took the servers down for an hour or so to work on the system and make sure "an outage like the first one doesnt happen again".
if you want to prove your point to them (as i will), they told me to call back after the outage to request a refund for the downtime. it'll only be a couple bucks, but again, it is power in numbers.
and as for the speeds, plunk down an extra $10 a month and you get 6mb down and 768kb up. guaranteed speeds? i think not. but i never go below 4.5 down. - MistaRip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0***** comcast. it's bad enough that they cap us at 4mb down and 256k up.
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0glad I still have adelphia!!! lol
- gunnmjk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thanks! I had just enough power to load digg.com but comcast.net wouldn't load

- jkjaymz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thank you wuss for breaking it down, was unable to get to the comcast site. Thanks!!!!!
- wildjohn999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was wondering why the cable modem was slow and dropping connections last night.
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I changed the DNS and it works now, but is that even legal?
BTW, what are you tugys talking about? I have 4.2 MB Down and I can only upload at 45KBPS... so.... I guess NJ sucks? - lurker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I really hate when this happens. Thanks for the tip
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What in earth is going on with them?!?!?
