- doublsh0t, on 04/01/2008, -1/+26you have to give them your gmail username and password to try it out? ***** them. ***** them in the *****.
- HydrogenY, on 04/01/2008, -0/+11I don't like giving my email password out to strangers. No good could come from that kind of stupidity.
- tbstudee, on 04/01/2008, -1/+6APRIL FOOLS
- TypeEE, on 04/01/2008, -0/+4My inbox is already spammers' social network
- uklizzie, on 04/01/2008, -1/+3Interesting idea but not for me. I have enough trouble keeping one inbox organised already, so I couldn't cope with anything more complex.
- d0nkeyBOB, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2I'm using it right now . . . I notice a small lag in gmail response but its really nice. . . . . after thinking though . . .my paranoia level just bumped up with the thought that I just gave out my gmail password . . . .er . . .
- Rotzooi, on 04/01/2008, -0/+2Great, another social network!
- Ryosen, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2Sounds like Xobni for GMail (www.xobni.com for those that haven't played with it).
- BBlank, on 04/01/2008, -2/+4Interesting concept. Its true about the mess your inbox can become leaving things in there because you "never know when I might need it!" My personal feeling with online mail services is that they call have some redeeming qualities and some pitfalls you don't get with a traditional desktop client. Mobile access is key, whether from a mobile phone or an internet connection, you need to be able to retrieve and work with your data effortlessly and efficiently. This is an interesting start to making more out of an old reliable tool.
- Blogfeeder, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1It's in the post I believe or you can sign up at xoopit.com. I got my invite from the story though.
- bobcoxocn, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1This has been achieved by having friends already and having them in your contact list.
- jsmith39, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I just went to sign up and saw the password request.... wtf? I came back to digg to see if anyone was offering a legitmate reason. April Fools Perhaps?
- jlebrech, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1There's already a social network system using email, and that's called Mailing Lists. There is also chain mail which is a popular social network that takes advantage of the email system.
- inactive, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1Anyone have any idea on WHY they need the email passwords?
- habenneas, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Fast text mirror: http://www.lynxcache.org/usr/1/_Xoopit_Turns_Inbox ...
- KidDeath, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1if you don't want to put your gmail password in, don't.
the signup thing from there doesn't work, put your email in the box to the right
if you have any problems, please change your email password. - thrill, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1You know, I've been looking for a place to post my Active Directory/MS Exchange username and password for all to see, I guess now I've found the perfect solution! yay!
- mspouf, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1my experience with xoopit has been super cool cause it's making my life easier. It's not like i have one more ****** social network to manage THANK GOD!! Instead it's found the zillion pics that were buried in my gmail and brought it out to my attention.
and i love that i can just send whatever i want to facebook without having to download first or ever leave my gmail. Super quick. About the whole password issue, i don't have a hang up about it. Don't really believe in a "private life" anymore in today's world so take a chill pill. - Syphon0928, on 04/01/2008, -0/+1It's real.
- sudhee, on 04/02/2008, -0/+0Isn't this similar to what Yahoo has announced sometime back? Jerry demoed similar stuff at CES.
OTOH, They're asking for your gmail password. I, for one, am paranoid enough, not to provide a random person with my gmail password or for that matter any data which would reveal my personal details. Google wouldn't like that as well. - tehcakeisalie, on 04/03/2008, -0/+0Interesting. I need to get around to creating a spam email address to try these types of sites out with.
- dshey, on 04/01/2008, -3/+3I'd like to try it out! How do I get an invite?
- MBSauls, on 04/01/2008, -0/+0This is definitely going to clean up my inbox... Thank God!
- amcneill, on 04/01/2008, -0/+0Sounds cool, but not sure how much I would use it. I could see it being very useful for others...
- vedhead, on 04/01/2008, -1/+0pretty frickin' sweet...
- Roofius78, on 11/30/2008, -1/+0http://www.bloggtrafik.net - yes i totally agree! and finally
- KidDeath, on 04/01/2008, -2/+1no, that's to sign in, and to allow their service to work with gmail / whatever
but to try it , you need the code, and if you read the page, you'll know that, and know where to enter your email to get the code. - rockus, on 04/01/2008, -2/+1I am using it. Really cool. I have a lot of pictures buried in my gmail and this is really helpful. Gmail has been noticeably slower after using this though.
- wild, on 04/01/2008, -3/+1So you like to play butt darts, do you?
