- Tim-in-oz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great guide that will become the Firefox "user manual" for the near future - I hope they have a lot of bandwidth!
Maybe they should make it available in PDF? - PrometheuZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Probably the reason for all the Firefox tweak posts is due to the simple fact that Firefox is noticeably slower than IE-based browers for many users. For many it's not, but for many it is. Mine is tweaked-out yet it's still slower than IE, but I use it as default for the awesome extensions.
- spyres, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm seeing obvious speed increases on web rendering/navigation with FF Beta 2 vs. 1.07. I noticed that extensions compatibility is picking up nicely.
- iamtheshow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0just use fasterfox and set it to turbo charged to save yourself the hassle.
- rusty_g, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0don't be a hater instigator, we all love our firefox!!!!
- natureman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Step 2: Uninstall Opera ;)
- chuckfoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this never worked for me
- Seaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I Digg some of the features in the guide but disagree with this suggestion:
"browser.xul.error_pages.enabled [Boolean] (False) - If set to true, Firefox will displays a full error page when it runs into an error (such as a 'page does not exist' error). If set to false, Firefox will only bring up a small dialog box with the error message, which is the default behavior. I recommend this setting be left at false for maximum convenience."
This is great when everything is running smoothly with your internet connection. If you should be using a shaky connection and are attempting to load 4 pages at once, you would be greeted with 4 pop-ups to click acknowledging the fact the 4 pages did not load. I personally like the fact 1.5 Beta 2 by default does not give you the pop-up warnings. Just goes to show that Firefox is always improving.
As for Opera...no Adblock, no Adblock, and no Adblock. Plus, it is ugly and renders my pages in a strange and nausea inducing manner. I do not like the fact that until recently you either had to pay for Opera or use an ad-supported version. By making Opera free, they are simply saying "OK, we think we have enough of your money now".
Firefox has always been free and open source. - kanenas.net, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have already used some of the tweaks myself, see...

- Menthol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Or you could get the FasterFox extension to fix the biggest issues.

Max server connections 99999999999 - PrometheuZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Step 3: Reinstall Opera ...I hate the default interface but it is blazingly fast.
- peerk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Step 1: Install Opera
- PrometheuZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0My favorite browser is Irider...find the crack if you're too cheap to pay for it. It's the fastest browser I've experienced so far, even though it's IE-based. I still prefer Firefox though...again, just for the extensions. If I want a quick porn fix I'll revert back to Irider...;)
- Akia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wow... a step by step guide to how to install, run, and tweak FireFox! The most idiot proof guide I've seen! This will SO help those people who don't know how to connect to the internet... Oh wait... how can they see the site if they don't know how to use an internet browser?
- lnstigator, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Enough with the Firefox tweaking guides already! How many times do we need to tweak it?
Give it a rest - kyle133, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0have a look at this...
