- breezy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11i'm pretty happy it made it to the front page again, because I have just found myself a great resource. Congratulations on seeing it the first time it was here.
- mcnugget, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I'm sick of these people who point out dupes. I don't endorse them, but they do have a purpose
1. Alot of people don't just sit on digg like you people and don't see it
2. If it's a good site (such as this one) it's worth posting again
3. New visitors to digg don't usually go digging into the archives, they see what comes up on the homepage or rss feed
Btw, that lame joke and 'lol' is what put me over the edge.
Finally, get a life buddy. - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9What no Python?
- jeffgtr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Duplicate or not, I did not know about this site and this looks incredibly useful. Thanks for posting this!
- TechManNYC, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8By far the best integrated programmer's reference website!!!
- digitaloxygen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I don't know if I'd go that far, but it is a great resouce. I will have to try it in a real work situation, but it appears that it could replace google as a coding reference for me.
- counterplex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6All it needs is a plugin for firefox and a guarantee that more api's will be added and it'll definitely be the best programmer reference out there.
My $0.02 - Jandels, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8No labels for checkboxes (i.e. I have to actually click on the checkbox) = lame. Here's a tip for the developers: spend 2 seconds and search for "label".
Other than that, the site is pretty cool. - DanAtkinson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Krugle, Goddamnit! I meant Krugle!!!
http://www.krugle.com
Please bury my last comment. - MrPig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Slow live search. - BUT IT HAS PYTHON!
- DanAtkinson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4How about Krugle - http://www.krugle.com - then? They also have C#.
Along with AJAX searches. - JSchwage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow. And to think I'm a web designer and programmer and didn't know about this. This site is great!
- inmatarian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nice, it's a useful tool.
If this was killed as a dupe, I would have never seen it. - bonzooznob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2would prefer a different site as the Javascript source... w3schools is a bit weak on JS support.
- standsolid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wasn't going to digg it because I'd seen this before...
but then i saw "Ajax Search" and was like, "***** yeah!" - porkstacker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Don't bother with the "CSS at msdn.microsoft.com" option unless you want to disregard standards.
- turndot7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What is this all 'dupe' talk about? As far as I remember the original posting 6 or so months back was http://www.gotAPI.com which is still there. I guess this one is an alternative maybe better/worse version of the former. Is the release of Microsoft Vista a dupe of Microsoft Windows 3.1???
- sdbarker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3And no Win32 API, and no MSSQL... sad day. Good stuff otherwise, though. Definitely handy.
- Loath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Depends how fast you type. It was less than 2 seconds for me!
- psylence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Man, back when we had to hit Enter to search, stuff sucked, this is fantastic.
- Dycacian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Looks good, just gotta add more stuff.
Needs ASP.Net
VB.Net
C#.Net
Oracle 10g
etc..
It looks nice and clean.. :D keep building it. - kschumakher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sure. No more stories about Microsoft products. Im for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- ardorin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Excellent resource!
One suggestion for the developers, could you add Smarty? - wheezl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3yep this would be more useful with python...
It has C and PostgreSQL so it's not *completely* useless.
It was pretty cool to use, add some ObjC/Cocoa and some python (maybe throw in Twisted and Turbo Gears) and I'd use it all of the time. - ferrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Jandels etc...
Here you go: a greasemonkey script to give it labels (until they fix the page itself).
This is public domain so anyone take it and make it better =)
http://s3.amazonaws.com/ServEdge_pub/gm_scripts/labeler.user.js - muka3d, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Another very similar one is QuickRef.org, I find it much faster and easier to use.
http://www.quickref.org - bjschnei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how come no django?
- RandomGuySteve, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I'm sick of Dupes. I'm sick of "spamming" the same story over and over, deliberately, to get front page hits.
"1. Alot of people don't just sit on digg like you people and don't see it."
The frontpage moves too fast. Fix the algorythm, 20 mainpage picks, 20 category specific pics. per day.
"2. If it's a good site (such as this one) it's worth posting again"
And again. And again. And again. And again. 10 TIMES! How many is enough? Infinite? Shall we post this site once a day for free diggs? Does it even matter anymore?
"3. New visitors to digg don't usually go digging into the archives, they see what comes up on the homepage or rss feed"
And the problem is even they get sick of the dupes. Hell there might be 2 of the same story on the frontpage at the same time, and even the people who don't visit that often get pissed off.
"Btw, that lame joke and 'lol' is what put me over the edge."
I agree, "lol" annoys the hell out of a lot of people. - FuzzyCat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
Need to add :
autocomplete=off
to the form to stop the double dropdown issue, please... - BigBadaboom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seems to have some omissions though.
For instance try searching for 'HashMap' under Java 1.5.0. It's not there.
But it does show up for 1.3 and 1.4.2... - rodneyH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have never seen this site before now, and am glad someone "duped" the post, too. Thanks. It looks very useful.
- squelart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It clashes with firefox auto-complete! I type some letters, firefox shows a list of words starting with them, and the site shows (underneath) a list of choices. Arrows move in both lists! Unusable...
Or is there a way to disable auto-complete for this site?
(quickref.org doesn't have this problem...) - oxyrubber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Why not write one, my man? Javascript+(XMLHTTPRequest Object+XML)+XHTML+XUL.
Not really as hard as it sounds.
For non-autocompletion, it would be a simple query URL for the searchbar. - grinin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Didn't Google itself just release a search engine specific to searching for public code??
http://www.google.com/codesearch ??
This one looks amazing though.
Thanks for the post! - fizgigtiznalkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oops, supposed to be under the next one, ditto the .net and ms sql comment
- streak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1C: system() but not sysctl()? Neither is part of the language, but if it has one, then it should have the other.
- etank, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It says more to come. I hope they add both Python and django.
- nytsua, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I love this site. Used it all summer, was such a great help. The updated look is much better!
- madmw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Quite useful indeed. IMHO the user interface needs a couple improvements.
I've hacked a dumb script (a Greasemonkey one) to allow toggle a whole group with a single click on its title:
http://wiki.mad.mw/GreaseMonkey/UserScripts/GotApi
Any plan to add python? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2sike.
it's probably not a dupe.
i was just sick of other peoples posts about duplicates so I gave it a try myself. - vitormil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great!!!
- wirelesshnic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1***** THE DUPE POLICE!
- osekmedia, on 02/27/2008, -0/+0Does not have a Coldfusion search, that sucks!
- nuno416, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1awesome find! thanks.
- gcalm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Zoooom...!! Thats how fast. By far the fastest and most comprehensive api search I've ever seen. Now I want one of these as a desktop app that would pop-up on a Crl+Alt+S or something, while coding.
- BeegoD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1A codesearch site with javascript error?
Oh god =( - yano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great reference, this will definitely come in handy!
- defnull, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Its a digg. Only thing missing is a Firefox2 search plugin with auto completion.
- lemz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1where's .net and where's sql server?
- zuul86, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yeah that's what I was looking for as well...
