- flag564, on 10/12/2007, -1/+51Digg is a fad.
The future is Dagg.ru.
Where the content submits you! - AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23You mean you read the article? You're supposed to digg it, make a snarky remark and move on...
- allyant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Ubuntu is not a web site its a OS, so why is it in the list?
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13We'll just say that the Ubuntu kernel is coded in CSS and Ajax and leave it at that. They'll never know the difference.
- cybersnafu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Yeesh. It seems that it doesn't matter what the article is... if it gets to the front page and has web 2.0 in the title, it gets dugg. *sigh* A less than two day old blog with five posts, all consisting of nonsensical "top lists" and regurgitated (and misinforming) articles about "web 2.0 standards". I mean, really, what the heck is this? "One of the web 2.0 standards is to make some reflection on your images." "The backgrounds in web 2.0 have several forms, either to be gradient colors or diagonal line pattern." "The contents of the page should be in the center of the page like the following samples, as you can see the contents are in the center of the page and the left and right space are filled with gradient background."
These aren't web 2.0 standards. Gradient backgrounds, plastic logos, wet floor effects... these are the new fractals, scanlines and 8px fonts of trendwhorish web design.
*takes a deep breath*
Just sayin'. :D - spargo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Talk about the worst designed website ever. Light gray text on a white background with an eye-piercing green background? No thanks.
- CrushThemTorg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I discounted this list immediately upon seeing Adult Swim's inclusion. It's all ironic bad design (like a frat boy in a trucker hat) that screams: "This site's too cool for you to ever find anything."
- ksgant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"I don't think my ISP has upgraded to Web 2.0 yet...so I can't participate. Where do I buy Web 2.0? Do I need Firefox 2.0 to use Web 2.0? Is Web 2.0 only on Internet 2?"
Yes, these are actual questions I've heard others saying...the term is a bit of a pain. - hellogoodbye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This is not a good list.
- stev3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@flag: I actually went to that website, just in case.
+1 - ogmandino, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8no flickr?
- AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5...it's looking more and more like this list was compiled by a single-celled organism with Parkinson's.
- TroubleInMind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Web 2.0, a phrase coined by O'Reilly Media in 2004,[1] refers to a perceived or proposed second generation of Internet-based services—such as social networking sites, wikis, communication tools, and folksonomies—that emphasize online collaboration and sharing among users. O'Reilly Media, in collaboration with MediaLive International, used the phrase as a title for a series of conferences, and since 2004 some members of certain technical and marketing communities have adopted and loosely adapted the phrase. Others, notably Tim Berners-Lee, see the term as a needless and poorly-defined buzzword.
- snoozy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I love how most definitions of what Web 2.0 is read something like : Web 2.0 is going to change the way sites are designed and marketed, but there's no consensus on what or how. Another stupid buzzword for the stupid masses.
- boredaghast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3how about some categories or an order of any kind? It looks like someone just came up with that off the top of their head to make an article specifically for digg.
Marked as lame. - AstralSin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2christ, these noobs on digg are really dragging the content down. half these sites are barely web 2.0 if at all, this is just a marketing ploy to promote the guy's blog, marked as spam
- ericnmu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can hardly read the text with the contrast on my laptop.
- cybersnafu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yet people keep digging it. Mob mentality for the win.
- cybersnafu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hooray for the Digg snowball effect. The majority of comments here echo the same problem I had when it first it the front page (ie. the list just sucks outright), but the diggs, they just keep piling in.
- BlackSheep720, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1jesus i couldnt read that
firefox -- view -- page style -- basic page style -- no ugliness -- niceeeeeeee - sMoRTy71, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What about Profilactic?
http://www.profilactic.com/mashup/smorty71 - isgblog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1SEOmoz's Web 2.0 Awards is another good catalog of websites: http://www.seomoz.org/web2.0.
- entertainer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2no last.fm?
- monkeymagik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dugg for not including myspace :-)
- Dotnetsky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amen. Yah, we all know about O'Reilly and what Web 2.0 is supposed to be. Nevertheless, its all a bunch of ***** to me. A web site is a web site.
It might be good, it might be bad. It might have a lot of snazzy features, and it might not. It might be useful, and it might not be, notwithstanding the previous items. You wanna put a snazzy label on it to make you "feel all good", knock yerself out. Doesn't mean a damned thing to me. - flazz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2***** list.
some sites on the list are web2.0 but not all: invalid list of web2.0 sites.
also there is nothing truly original/innovative about the sites, they are mostly just incredibly popular sites. - Guard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It just seems like a list of 100 sites that are either popular or are wanting to be advertised.
Marked as lame. - toast1226, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1agreed
- moebis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Number 101:

http://www.zangani.com - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I really don't care if they're not all to Web 2.0 standards. Having them all in one place is a great boon. And finally having a central source to understand what some of those weird names mean is a great help.
Thanks submitter for helping make life a little easier (for some of us). To those who moaned about so and so not being there etc, hope you have added ure comments. - Evic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What a ridiculous list... half of those sites have nothing to do with 2.0. Pligg is nothing more than a CMS, it's a new phpNuke, nothing 2.0 there.
The best one - Adultswim... are you kidding me?
Maybe this is just a list of websites the authors think is cool and by placing web 2.0 in the title he knows he'll get a lot of hits. - funkytaco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.avidbeauty.com - Creates RSS playlists of podcast files that you can sync to iTunes. You can sync individual files to your own playlist which others on the website can see.
I know I need a new design, but I've been working long hours for a year. - vurdalak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow top100 now, why dont top500 at once
- pxlpshr, on 09/04/2008, -0/+1www.purepressure.com
- pesh2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@snoozy
Well said. Look at the list of sites in the article. It's basically YouTube, Digg, del.icio.us & blogger, and then 20 also ran versions of those four ideas.
My favorites on the list are Ubuntu and Fckeditor. I use and love both, but how are they "Web 2.0"? Ubuntu is an OS, and its just the newest (and maybe best) distro of Linux, which isn't new. And FCK is just a editing tool (albeit an awesome free one). Is Web 2.0 about OpenSource? I'm pretty sure OpenSource predates this hype. - DavisTheDigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1flickr?
- spencer911, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think the list is on the basis of ranking
if so there should have been thorough review of each site ,he has just given brief description - eightgr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://cg-gallery.com a new digital art gallery. Only online since two weeks and lots of new features are coming this year.
- funkspiel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'll wait for 2.1
- hungryduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1According to Sen. Stevens, Its a series of tubes.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would add www.interactionchat.com and www.meebome.com
- joshtj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is just a list of someones favourite site. Web 2.0 inserted for maximum digg appeal.
- somaninn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0and netvibes ? http://www.netvibes.com/
- kingofpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What? No Last.fm?
- twodimes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://hubpages.com/
- Zwirko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I suggest some of you guys need to read Zeldmans Web 3.0 piece over at Alist Apart ... reality check!!
http://www.alistapart.com/articles/web3point0
Web 2.0 ... c'mon.
Usability and accessibility is the name of the game boys and girls - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The title of this list is somewhat misleading.
Scriptaculous is a javascript library just displaying the effects of the library they have but I wouldn't say it's one of the best sites since it's missing factors of a 2.0 site. The writer clearly misses the fact that a Web 2.0 site is one that attempts to bring the features of a local OS to the web. Using 2.0 loosely would to refer to a site like digg is fine because it does it somewhat but scriptaculous clearly doesnt. It just offers a place to download a script. There's other flaws in this article but personally I dont think the blog was put together well. - lafayettest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pretty sweet video messaging site just launched alpha: http://www.voxlite.com -- good example of "web 2.0" -- use your webcam to send private messages via a simple website. when i registered i got a mailbox with unlimited storage...

What is Digg?
The Digg Toolbar for Firefox lets you Digg, submit content, and keep track of Digg even when you're not on the Digg site. Download the official
