- battlemyphoto, on 03/30/2009, -1/+10Sys-con is a terrible company. I hope they lose all their advertisers
- n00ge, on 03/30/2009, -1/+9I've been following the story on Twitter and on Aral's blog. The way that Sys-con has falsely identified hundreds of bloggers as authors on Ulitzer and posts up the blogger's articles on their site is completely irresponsible. Claiming copyrights to the articles is even worse. I hope that this gets resolved quickly for Aral and the rest of the 'authors'' sake.
- Pradeek, on 03/30/2009, -1/+9This is stupid. I feel sorry for Aral.
- seancorfield, on 03/30/2009, -0/+6I've had several run-ins with Sys-Con over the years and have asked them more than once to remove all articles and content associated with me. They usually remove it briefly and then they put it back without asking. When they decided to "change" CFDJ into the Silverlight DJ, they lampooned several well-known CFers (including me) because we spoke out about - all the time syndicating our blogs onto their home page (so they ran several seriously anti-Sys-Con posts on their own home page!). They pretty much define unprofessional journalism.
- coldfusionPaul, on 03/30/2009, -0/+5welcome to the club, they did the same thing to the coldfusion community.

- paulieman, on 03/30/2009, -0/+5Sys-con sucks ass
- jboomgaarden, on 03/31/2009, -0/+4Don't understand why Google and other major search engines aren't punishing sites such as ulitzer for these types of acts.
- chadu, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4mrdoob,
While there is a Streisand effect element to this, there is no denying that Sys-con has infringed the author's content, has maligned him and then threatened him. All of these would probably go under the radar of the general public, normally, yes, but there is a larger issue at hand here. Sys-Con operates their network of sites if they are a legitimate company and is using slimy tactics to steal content and then use scare tactics to get the author to back down. This is particularly troublesome in that they have big name sponsors and are pretty visible in the industry. - radison2, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4Looks like it's time for Digg Lynching. Who has the pitch forks? I'll go get the torches.
- rmaxim, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4When is someone going to sue Sys-Con already to put a permanent end to this?
- lelander, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4Outrageous. Who has time to deal with this kind of thing..?
- oddb0d, on 03/30/2009, -1/+4Hmmm... wonder if you'd be saying the same if it were happening to you.
Also I don't think you can class sys-con as '..every spam company...' - they've been around for many years and been involved in many events, publications, etc. - not your usual 419ers... - n0seblunt, on 03/30/2009, -1/+4This story is almost unbelievable.
- fabianv, on 03/30/2009, -1/+3I was shocked when I read this, how can they do this to Aral
- crunky, on 04/23/2009, -0/+1Fuat deserves himself.
- rapella, on 03/30/2009, -1/+2Sys-con > Con. Nuff said
- samlew, on 03/31/2009, -0/+0I have a friend who had a run in with them years ago. You're right, they apologize -- then put it back. Kinda like they said they were going to fire that woman blogger who found out where the other woman lived and published it (can't remember -- some Linux related thing)... And they said they were firing her. Yet she's on the front page of their site now. They rarely pay anyone for anything anyway...
Someone needs to do a class-action and then get their advertisers involved and take them down. For good. It's disgusting (someone is making the money for the 3,000 ads per page they have up on their 20 or more mirrored sites)... - mrdoob, on 03/30/2009, -2/+1I've no idea who sys-con is. Well, now thanks to Aral I know a bit more about them. Thanks Aral.
If it happened to me I would have probably ignore it, as if I care what people on the internet say about me... lets all grow up bit shall we. - mrdoob, on 03/30/2009, -6/+1http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect
- mrdoob, on 03/30/2009, -7/+1What the hell? Stop the noise guys. This is not relevant, you're even doing them a favour.
Aral, please, if everyone had to create such a mess for every spam company saying ***** about other websites what a pile of crap the internet will be (if it's not bad enough).
