- statik99, on 11/03/2009, -2/+35The blue screen of death will now be replaced with audio of Kirk yelling "Khaaann!"
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24We are looking for nuclear wessellssss
- GamingFox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Close...
The data one is photoshopped from Episode 115: Power Play, where Data, Troi, and Miles were taken over by spirits and they attempted to take over the bridge.
God, I sound so geeky... - nigel984, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13We all know what this means...

- gildude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11He tasks me...
- gildude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10As long as my computer doesn't yell, "Coolant leak!" we are all good.
- barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I used to use the lcars theme on enlightenment, It might be my own faulty memory, but It was pretty usable.
- bromac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Sounds like a geek, looks like a geek, can recite Star Trek episode numbers by scene like a geek...
Welcome to Digg. - pauldonnelly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Looks like someone isn't computing to their full potential....
- PunchSideiron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5C'mon, this is cool. Of course it's not useful in any way, but it's not supposed to be. Just enjoy it for the pure, unadulterated geekiness that it was meant to be.
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Yeah, I always wanted to use LCARS in stuff for the longest time before I realize that, in reality, Star Trek UI would totally suck. If you pay close attention in the shows, you can see that most of their panels would actually be completely useless or downright irritating. It looks cool on TV but functional it is not.
- drall.kj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I always like this theme for enlightenment. I know it is not true LCARs but it look and works good.
http://themes.freshmeat.net/projects/starenli/ - DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5The first one is a photoshoped image from The Wrath of Khan, the second is a photoshop of Lore (Data's "evil" "brother") from a TNG episode (dont know which).
- kwilliam71, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4What we really want to see is this: http://www.lcarsdeveloper.com
- oldgeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I have LCARS UI on my pocket PC, it works good and has the real voice of the Enterprise. I don't think it's a good thing for the desktop, unless you have a touch screen.
- finite, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5There were also some free LCARS components for the Maemo platform on digg last month:
http://digg.com/linux_unix/Real_Life_Tricorder_Based_On_Nokia_Linux_Tablet_Must_See_Pics
Always good to see more implementations of lcarsdeveloper's Open LCARS Standards... - protogenxl, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Okay, now lets do it for Beryl
- finite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i was able to download the .zip (with the DLL, the EXE, and everything else) using the first login at http://www.bugmenot.com/view/codeproject.com
- rusty0101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not entirely sure that it is entirely useless. Lets say you want to put together a touch screen kiosk for the next science fiction or star treck convention you are hosting. You could use this with a $150 Fujitsu 3400 and what not, and be up and running in whatever time it would take to actually throw the code onto the device.
Sure it's Geeky, that's part of the intent in that sort of an environment. Likewise at the local video rental store a simple kieosk built on this would probably rock the world for those sci-fi buffs stopping in.
Just because it would probably not server your needs on a day to day basis, doesn't mean it is entirely useless. - steelmaverick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can anyone post a direct link to the DLL? I dont wanna have to sign up for anything!
- hadak, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4http://www.duggmirror.com
- kmarius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Delphi has had LCARS components for years.
- finite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2(note that i didn't actually *run* it though, as there is no MS Windows for my CPU. So, again... anybody here actually use this thing yet?)
- GuyHitByTruck, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Somebody needs a girlfriend!
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2where did those come from? were they jsut photoshopped?
- smorg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Agreed. LCARS can be practical if you have a touch-screen, and a window manager which doesn't overlap windows. In other words Pocket PCs, Internet tablets, and the like. Trying to make it work with a desktop OS seems futile. A cursor is just out of place in this UI.
- udahlen, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I find it extremely improbable that any advanced civilization would use Microsoft .Net.
- Farticus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1That is because, in the future, .NET does not exist.
;-) - farglebargle, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2LCARS always looked dumb compared to the banks of discrete switches, toggles, and lamps.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1And just how often does your computer need to engage the warp drive or fire a photon torpedo?
I call useless!
Besides, has anybody counted how often things go wrong on the Enterprise? - buttsbuttsbutts, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2looks like ass
- finite, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3nice NOT joke.
- smoothly, on 10/12/2007, -21/+6Sulu, hit cntrl-alt-del now!
