  • starfishsystems, on 11/27/2008, -0/+14Realtime kernels and process schedulers have been available in several Unix variants since the early 1990s. This is quite mature technology.

    The article discusses semaphores and message queues, which are useful techniques for process synchronization generally, not restricted to realtime use.
  • freenadigg, on 11/27/2008, -0/+11Yes it does look fine, but when it comes to RT and events fast handling, I still prefer to avoid systems that handle files, videos, USB and Ethernet connections. I like it dirty, cheap and fast, that's why I still cling to micro controllers (PIC, ARM, H8Tiny, ATMEGA you name it) rather than embedded PCs. Yes I'm still a cave man.......

  • TheWindBlows, on 12/18/2008, -0/+1regression in the realtime kernel apparently it only supports 1 core ubuntu studio developers suggested sticking to hardy if you have multi cores i'd imagine there are issues with more than that too.w I guess they still havent found how to fix it yet and are probably going to wait til jaunty putting all their planning and effort towards jaunty.
