    Just think, the PHP VCL source is fully open sourced, so it's going to be very productive and possibly lucrative for 3rd party component
    developers.
    This is not going to be like Eclipse PHP which is NON RAD, this is going to be fully visual drag and drop event oriented programming for the web and you will be able to deploy your PHP apps to the many many web hosts that provide PHP 5 which far out number ASP.net.

    A better comparison would be to TurboPHP: http://www.turbophp.com/

    Delphi for PHP is going to be better than both when it comes to RAD (rapid application development)

    CodeCharge = db dev tool and "Code Generator" for web - interesting but not a PHP dev tool
    TurboPHP = PHP IDE and Windows components that generate PHP (and require separate PHP components on the server)
    Delphi for PHP = PHP IDE and true PHP Components

    I have been waiting for a kick ass PHP IDE with RAD features for years, and with all the Delphi for win32 and .net experience CodeGear has I expect this
    product to really shine.

    Also people, if you are looking for a better .net, then check out Delphi for win32 which is a natively compiled RAD solution.
    It blows the doors off of C# for RAD windows programming and you can take that to the bank! You can also create single sourced projects for native win32 and .net by using Delphi for .net.

  • Joachim164, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Delphi for PHP looks for me like a portion clone of CodeCharge Studio (CCS) - a visual Rapid Web Application Development and Web Reporting Tool from YesSoftware. CCS can generate programming code in C# and VB. Net (ASP.NET), VBScript (ASP), ColdFusion, Java (Servlets or JSP), PHP, and PERL. Since the project model is stored in XML format, the programming language can be changed at any time and the same project can be regenerated in multiple programming languages. That is really RAD. The first CCS release was in 2002.
