Thanks, + digg - 0Kdestiny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1> whats wrong with doing windows devlopment :(
The wrong thing doing windows development is being not paid by Microsoft.
If you are either a software corporation or one man coder you don't get a cent
from them not even a -thank you- letter, you get nothing.
You write software for Microsoft increasing the value of Windows for them for free.
Then they can go and claim: see our Windows is invaluable you get any kind of
software for it, go buy Windows.
Now if there were so many people come to my business, offer to work for me for nothing.
(p.s. Yes I know you get paid by your software customer, but my point still stands that
Microsoft is not paying too, and thats whats wrong here.) - andrego, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just found this, *nix ... http://programmerstools.org/taxonomy/term/5
Beside of this, you can submit your own tool ... http://programmerstools.org/node/70
I have been visiting this site since 2001 (from the old days of protools.cjb.net). And it is still going on. Good. - andrego, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@0Kdestiny
Why MS should pay software vendors for writing applications for Windows? It is like automobile makers should pay petrol/oil companies? Or vice versa ...
The computer needs an operating system to operate with. Currently the most used OS is still MS Windows. Most used means highest number of users. Which means biggest market. That is.
I personally like Mac OS X more than Windows.
To all: Programmers' Tools has also tools for *nix, macos, as far as I can see. :) - h3adstr0ng, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg make it go boom.
- coyforce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Making Passwords is really boring
- speel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0whats wrong with doing windows devlopment :(
- LtngStlkr, on 10/12/2009, -0/+0It's a great site, I love it. There are a lot of Windows specific tools on there and not much else. It's not because they are Windows biased, but because there aren't as many tools written for other OSs. Also a lot of them are geared toward assembly programming. Assembly programming info on the web in general is difficult to find or nonexistent for other OSs. Also, Windows and the software that runs on it has a lot of quirks that warrant writing little tools like these.
- vagabond0101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is nothing wrong doing windows development but there are a lot of disadvantages when compared to web based apps. Web servers apart from storing and disseminating information also provide a lot of rich tools to organize and share information which is not possible in windows based apps.
- kardi412, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Eh - nothing fancy - I'm a C# and JAVA Developer
Nothing crazy n the C# department and as far as JAVA all I need is Eclipse and Netbeans
I'll still digg it though - silent1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+00KDestiny: I do believe your grasp on reality is a bit weak.
- cg84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the first time I read this site's url, the impression I got wasn't "programmers' tools".... rather it was "programmer stools".
- codeyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0useless site, I am a developer (both win & lin) and havent seen anyone use those tools, and if they are not popular then they are probably not good. No digg dude
- andrego, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@codeyman, I'm working as a security expert for protecting our sharewares from crackers and hackers and find this site extremely useful. You seems to be a pure developer and just use specific development platforms.
Thanks God, there are words IMHO (IMO) ;) - hathawayc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0+Digg cause it's a Drupal site.
- freddo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's just the old protools.cjb.net, it was basically a crackers'site with tools to reverse engineer. A good one at that, btw.
