PHP on Rails, or at least the closest you can get

users.mat.uni.torun.pl — Somebody took the time to try these PHP Frameworks inspired on Rails: (CakePHP, PHP on Trax, Akelos and Code Igniter). They built a blog and made a detailed chart evaluating different aspects. The winner was the newcomer Akelos, wich seems to be the closest to Rails you can get on PHP.

  • bermi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0rikcat: Akelos documentation is embedded into the code. It has been ported and adapted from Rails docs to stay as closer as possible to Rails interfaces. While I've been working really hard to make the codebase solid enough to be a real alternative to Rails for PHP, I had no time to beautify the docs and prepare a fancy website.

    I'm working on getting thins ready for Akelos, including a nicer API documentation, user guide, some screencasts, a Wiki and an IRC channel, but I really need some community help to get this done. Any volunteer?

    Right now the community is growing very slowly around the Akelos Google Group http://groups.google.com/group/akelos-framework?lnk=srg so if anyone has a question thats the place to go right now.
  • fizzatbeyond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The information is interesting, especially since I have been researching these myself, however The page is horrible because it only renders properly in firefox. In Konqueror (my browser of choice) the text ends up being black on black. It does the same thing in IE and opera too, so it's some bad html.
