Macromedia was worse. Perhaps this is the start of the liberation of Flash. - mark13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1haXe rocks. It's easy to learn and much more powerful than ActionScript.
You can also use it server side because it can compile for the Neko VM, too: http://nekovm.org/ - diggingthisone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The sweet thing about it, is instead of using 3 languages to write webapps, now you only need one. Instead of Actionscript+Javascript+PHP(or whatever), you can use haXe(which compiles to flash 6,7,8,or 9)+haXe(which compiles to JS)+haXe(which compiles to Neko, which runs as a apache plugin, and just happens to be 20-30 times faster than PHP)
- mdalan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nekovm samples can be found at http://nekovm.org/specs. It seems to be a functional language. For some reason they seem to prefix all builtin functions with '$' (so $print, $call etc) which is mildly inconvenient.
- PleaseKING, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Really cool language. Combined with SWHX (http://www.haxe.org/swhx) and neko (http://www.nekovm.org), allows to build both internet and desktop applications using flash or DHTML as client runtime. Excellent thing, I admire the author.
