Oh dear, - ubergmr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3this is far better that yakalike, some things i instantly noticed was the ability to change tabs while staying in the chat, the ability the see how many users are chatting on your current page, and no lag time. All this extension needs now is users.

Also, when I visit a site, the pages are 50% shifted to the right, and there is no scroll bar at the bottom to shift the page.

It even has the same "tools" menu "quickchat on/off" and "yakalike on/off" places text in the SAME place on the toolbar, loads in the EXACT SAME KIND of mini window on the bottom, I don't understand. Either someone's serisouly ripping the other off or something... CAN anyone clarify?

The problem is... most extensions, broken or not... rarely break the entire browser just because of something on the extension's server side. This behaviour is unacceptable and should be fixed ASAP. I would even put that at a higher priority than getting your chat room up.
If people download an extension and it screws the browser up this bad, most of them will uninstall the extension and never try it again. You only get one chance to make the first impression.
My humble advice... make those long error messages in the status bar go away for normal end users and for jebus' sake fix the page formatting. - aliljet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@robschraer yah, i'd never heard about that .. sorry man.

I looked at the source of this extension and it's really simple. There's not even anything in there that could really cause problems. From an extension point, this thing is really simple. the problem is both ours and firefox's. the fact that they allow an extension to place text in the status bar that in return will affect the main web page content is an issue with firefox.
the extension does need to check what is being returned and submitted into the statusbar and format it first. that is our development mistake.
however, its not our fault that something like that in the status bar makes the whole firefox browser to display webpage content incorrectly. - godeltheturtle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0we're coming back .. i'm moving everything now, not so easy.

- okcookienc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@we.are.devo: The obvious thing to do is to uninstall the extension, download it to your deskto from one of the mirrors mentioned above, and re-install in a while to check up. I had the same thing happen to me, and rather than bitching and moaning, I simply uninstalled the extension.
@The dev team: I reinstalled, and no longer get the garbled HTML in the status bar. When it tries to connect to Chat on GoChat! I get a 404 error in the "frame." Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at quickchat.dnsalias.com:1245.
