- klepto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I hope its not the usual boring bots that we've seen in the past. Dictionary bots, Weather, Local Info, Search Engines, and other boring *****.
- odarky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+440K is not bad at all for the winner. of course they will own everything you created obviously. here the link to the main site. http://www.robotinvaders.com/main/default.aspx

- bonzooznob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Man, I have to stop speed reading... I read this as...
"Microsoft is challenging developers worldwide to create controversial robots or BOTs for MSN Messenger..."
As in, Microsoft was looking for developers to hack MSN Messenger as a challenge, presumably to iron out all the security holes.
Darnn, I was going to Digg this! ;-) - SirTezzy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I demand a porn bot.
- Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Cool, I did a few bots back in the day of the 4.5 Version of messenger, small stuff though, hope to see a lot of interesting bots coming out of this.
- aptmunich, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Oh good:
"The Windows Vista genuine advantage bot"
The "MSN Windows .Net Live generic-hypeware-name-generator bot" - ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think I'm going to go ahead and predict a future digg url
"http://digg.com/programming/Microsoft_s_Invasion_of_Robots"
Say when, around 2020? - justice7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"http://digg.com/science/Microsoft_Robot_Invasion"

- armbar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You mean interesting like most IM conversations?

Ok, that was a waste of 2 minutes... - pauldonnelly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about a Fleshbot?
- tedtoulouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To #1 - if you're looking for a bot that can chat and not just look up stuff and play silly games, give Spleak a try (spleak@hotmail.com). She's one of the first bots with a personality!
Ted Toulouse siger:
What should I do?
Spleak siger:
got a crush on someone? i can hook u up dead easy, just type: crush.
Ted Toulouse siger:
more?
Spleak siger:
make a deal with the devil...keep your fingers crossed. hehe. - nogwater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wonder how the ActiveBuddy patent ( http://www.internetnews.com/bus-news/article.php/1446781 ) plays into all of this.
- berlinbrown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Couple of questions. Can I run a GAIM style client and not mess with the MSN messenger stuff for testing. Is the download realling that big? What does 'host' a bot mean? Can I just run the bot and that be enough.
- Monkeyget, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I applaud Microsoft for this initiative.
I'm even surprised that they released a java sdk! - lostboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is a great idea. Of course it will invite a lot of the usual entries we've all experienced before, but there is always room for innovation in the film of AI which is really what this is a test of, so I will be excited to see the results and more so who enters the contest.
- hseldon, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1This is dumb. There's never been a bot context for IRC. This is another "me too" attempt to artificially compete with an established service.
- cazabam, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1I have a currently active IRC bot that kicks anyone who speaks French. Of course, in the interests of race relations, it can have any language set as 'native' and 'foreign'.
It's a novelty, anyway :-) - id34, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1I'm sure this will bring some fun ideas, a nice fun competition I think.
