- avgbody, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3C# is a great language, in that I can developed a program in the matter of seconds if I need to, of course I still need to know languages like C/C++, Java if I want to develop on other platforms.
Now for some good site for learning C# are, IMHO:
MSDN: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/csref/html/vcoricsharptutorials.asp
Public Joe: http://www.publicjoe.f9.co.uk/csharp/tut.html - Diseage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Not only did I learn C#. but the huge flashing Ad at the bottom noted that I also won a free 42" plasma TV! I love programming!
- inthe80s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The tutorials look ok from what I saw. I'm learning C# on my own at the moment after years of Java and C. I've also studied graphic design, and while the color choices are poor, the layout isn't that bad. I've seen much worse crap on geocities. The banners are probably the most offensive thing, and anyone complaining about that should just block 'em with adblock. If you can't manage that, I doubt you know the first thing about programming anyways. Heck, just disable the colors with one of the dozen or so Firefox CSS extensions out there.
- bf01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Horrible colors, ugly web page layout, and obnoxious flashing banner ads. No digg.
- illynova, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"C# has to be one of the easiest programming languages, ever. It's less of a language, more of a glue. ;)"
You misspelled python ;)
Oh and that site is UGLY. And the tutorial really isn't all that great........ I was expecting something really easy, like an explanation of what programming is for people who've never programmed before. Believe me, I've taught undergrads and this is the hardest hurdle to pass. Once you understand programming concepts, its rather easy. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
The REAL easy way:
1) Learn Java, its the "real thing" not a cheap knock off from a jelous monoplist company who wants to lock people into everything and can't play well with others.
2) If 1 complete, spend 20 mins learning the differences with C#. C# is nothing but a second-hand copy of Java that only runs on a doomed platform in the first place so its easy to pick up once you know "the real thing". - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1for MSN Nicknames : http://www.nicknameZ.tk

i already posted that link to digg
http://digg.com/software/Free_Video_Tutorials_For_C_ - digikill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not ripping the site just to be mean because I have made my fair share of ugly before as well, but I honestly cannot look at that site. For whatever reason, my eyes simply cannot focus on the text.
Programmers and graphic designers should work together! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm so sorry, but every programmer needs to learn new concepts and languages in order to deliver the best solution to the client. I know a HELL of alot of languages and each has great pros and cons, but .NET as a framework, the Visual Studio IDE, and Sql Server as a 'package' is HANDS-DOWN the best I've seen out there. And no flame necessary, I'm a java developer and big open source nut. But you all need to pick up a book and read every once in a while. Its good for your constitution.
DIGG ++ ( ya'll need an edumacation ) - MarkyBhoyUK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Heres some videos on learning C#

nuff said. :) - cha0sth30ry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2C # is basically a clone of Java. Both are not that easy to learn (nor master).
Moreover while this tutorial is better than most, it has one major problem: it is boring
Personally I think Ruby is much easier and more powerful. The tutorials are much better too:
http://poignantguide.net/ruby/
http://www.rubyonrails.com/
As an alternative python is another good candidate, though I have yet to find a good tutorial. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1MarkyBhoyUK got to it before me, but that microsoft link is the easiestway, and itlooks nice.
- m00k13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, the website is rough... but why all the slamming on C#? Damn near the main requirement for every dev job around Phoenix, AZ.
- MattyP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ZmasteR
Ordinarily I'd agree with you. The content is the important piece of a website. No argument there. But when the design aspects of the site actively gets in the way of the content it is supposedly trying present to you, then it is a serious problem. Granted, the actual tutorial documents are very nicely presented, and quite legible indeed. But if the site's index page turns away 90% of viewers because of headaches, burning eyes, and a strange urge to claw their face off, then there's a serious problem.
Maybe next time your link description could be a little more detailed....like, acknowledge the ***** frontpage design, but encourage those whose eyes haven't melted to make their way to the actual documentation pages...which are actually pretty decent. - MarkyBhoyUK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@avgbody That public Joe link looks handy, cheers.

amen lol - ZmasteR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i submitted this site, i totally agree bout the ads and horrible site design...i started off with basic, then visual basic, and then moved to web design learnin php xml mysql and actionscript and recently set myself a goal to learn c# and tutorials are so few for c# but i found this site, and it gave the simplest of explanations i could find,,it was like tryin to to it to a baby,,,soooo easy to follow...so if u dnt like, dnt digg...btw its not my site thank god lol
- rEvolution27, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0+ Digg
Who cares about the site design.
I think it's great for people who know other languages or the concept of programming.
For instance basic was my first language, then I moved on to actionscript and javascript
But I never fully understood the principle of classes and methods....Mostly beacause actionscipt makes it so easy for you.
That's why I could never get into a real language like c++ or C# - MystaMax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Last time I checked, this wasn't CSSBeauty.com or CSSVault.com, so why is everyone bitchin about design? Its the content that brought this to digg.com, not the page layout.
I'm also interested in C#, and I found the info on this site pretty interesting, and overall useful. Thanks for the link. - m00k13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sethx9 - I've only lived in Phoenix for about 6 months and the four interviews I went on all contract offers I received required C# and thats the primary dev language at my current job (along with SQL and old VB apps). Just my experience here so far. In Detroit, I never was asked once. Not saying C# is some forced standard, but it seems to be taking off more than VB.NET in regards to the latest Microsoft dev.
None of this is relevant to the story, though. - Haplo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"2) If 1 complete, spend 20 mins learning the differences with C#. C# is nothing but a second-hand copy of Java that only runs on a doomed platform in the first place so its easy to pick up once you know "the real thing"."
Mono: http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page
And if you consider C# "A second-hand copy of Java" you clearly are not ready for step 1) and certainly not step 2) - Haplo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"As an alternative python is another good candidate, though I have yet to find a good tutorial"
http://diveintopython.org/ free e-book, very good. - SethX9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Shame on all you who found nothing better to say about this page than 'I don't like those colors'. Yeah? Then send the guy an email offering to spread some CSS love his way. Be part of a solution. Unless the problem you're trying to solve is "I need to feel smug and better than others". In that case, 'Congrats...you're a winner'.
And bitch about Microsoft and the people who use their products all you want but whenever I hear bitter and juvenile slagging it's 99% sure to be coming from a Linux/open source/Apple fanboy. Is that the community you all have managed to cobble together? I'd rather use an inferior language (not that C# is an inferior language) than have to work with the likes of you. And for the record Microsoft so far has the only viable managed runtime that allows people using different languages to be able to use each other's code. Swallow that pill.
m00k13 - I've lived and worked in Phoenix for five years and have been asked exactly once if I knew C#. - DevinMccloud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Zmaster, You are right. I actually started reading these tutorials before I found your post. They are by far the most clear and easy to understand tutorials I've seen yet. I just started learning c# and I think it's well worth it.
Great link! - SpookyET, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No digg. Those are horrible tutorials. They don't use the .NET coding. guidelines. It's also a horrible site.
- ZmasteR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@MattyP
should be the other way round....
if it has good content...who bloody cares about the design!! - sapo916, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You guys are homosexuals... you flame the website design. Awesome. Go back to the Mens Fashion Shows.
- ZmasteR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ya its a great link...shame ppl are bitchin bout the design...if i wanted to show of its design id hav put it in the design category!
- Crazen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The biggeset problem with getting a job based on C# is that some wannabe developer would have put VB code into the project because it's "compatabile"
- djhifisi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Glidedon:
Lump of coal in your stocking? I'd be happy if I got that. - jasutton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What the title means is, learn Java first, then realize that C# is just a cheap knock-off that M$ 'designed' so that it could say it wasn't using Java...
- cd_RW, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1no digg.
- Buddybot111, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0God normally i dont care about the layout, i attempted to try to read the first paragraph and couldnt do it, my eyes started straining and I got a headache, iv never seen such bad website in my life.
- 0x4B494C4C, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I think I've gone blind...
- ziffel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I thought a lot of the comments were being harsh, until i looked at the site. Eek!
umm... yeah, that's pretty bad. - aforonda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'll digg it just for the fact there is almost never any .net stuff on digg.
- DarkEnder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I didn't even look for the C# tutorial. I alt-f4'd that sucker the instant I saw the background.
- ZmasteR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@Dravidian
lol replaced by indians nice! lol - majkeli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0In regards to the knuckle heads who can't imagine why someone would want to learn C#--why learn it? To make lots of money that's why. I'm a professional C# dev and in the Baltimore area that's what's in demand, and that's what is paying the best.
Kinda useless site though. I looked at the "delegate" entry and found it sorely lacking. google "C-sharp" or "C#" and you'll find much better stuff than that. - lpcustom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0not only did i not learn C#, I had a seizure.
- foovo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What's with the steak, the lake and the duck?
- teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2i need to wash my eyes after that site
- Glidedon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I see a lot of people are going to get lumps of coal in their stockings .
- 1ivewire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0How is this dugg all the way to the top? Get this eyesore off of here.
- MirandaJanell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Offensive site. I don't know how anyone could easily learn anything with that layout and color scheme.
- ZmasteR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@thespace
big props to ya i 100% agree on that...shame people seem to moan about ***** all the time though lol - fa_pa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11) the site is ugly as hell
